Sharing Beyond Books #113 Comment Giveaway August 17, 2013

Hello again on Saturday night and Welcome to SBB, Sharing Beyond Books.  I apologize as I realized I didn't update the giveaway link last week... I thought I had but apparently not.

I had a strange busy week with several mornings in court requiring preparation. My reading is a little behind. I hope everyone else has had a good week.

A few of you are planning trips to the beach or a last summer outing over Labor Day week. Some are already preparing kids to return to school or preparing to go back as a teacher. nrlymrtl has end of summer chores to wrap up and Natasha is looking forward to autumn. I think I am too although we are getting a last minute summer end cruise the end of August!

A few of us admitted to pen names we liked or might use. Some indicated they had thought of one but are keeping it secret. :-) And half of you choose not to think up a pen name; no need. I smiled at Brooke's choice of her names backward.

Thank you to all who shared last week.
The Winner from SBB #112 comments is: #4 miki who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles, Christmas titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post.  Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.

WEEK #113

Q1. Becky asks: What is your favorite part of a book??
A: I thought on this a bit. I like getting started in a book and I enjoy the middle where things are developing well. But I guess my favorite part would be the ending.  I like to find out what happens... even though sometimes I'm sorry to say goodbye to the characters.

Q2. My non-bookish Question this time was inspired by Carol L's 'last hoorah' answer: Do you have street fairs or festivals near where you live and do you visit them?? (Think smaller events - well some cities have bigger street fairs I guess. But I plan to ask about bigger County Fair type events another week!)
A: We have several smaller events in our town. We have Summer in the Park evening concerts which don't have many vendors. We do have an Art Festival every year in the spring. And there is even a very small Civil War re-enactment. However I have not attended most of these. I did attend a couple of Run for Life events and St. Patrick Day events complete with bed races. These I usually participate in as part of our area Board of Realtors team of which I am an affiliate.

Now this looks like a crowded street festival!

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We are getting low on questions so hopefully you will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.

Your turn to share:

  1. First thank you a lot!!!!

now 1) i don't think i have a favourite part in a book i tend to enjoy it as a whole

    2) street event in my city... we have one in june/july for the music day, when there are some free concert or prestation.
in august we have a small beach on teh main place for those who can't go on holidays

and we have "Carnaval" at the laetare^^ very famous by the way ( but i didn't consider that a gigger event because each city has it own at a different time)

thank you once again, off to fill teh form to get an aswer this time^^

  2. I love those HEA endings so that would be my favorite part. With the exception of hating to say goodbye to characters I've connected with and love. :)

We have small street fairs in y hometown, craft fairs and art festivals every spring as well. During the summer our church has three or four amazing festival/carnivals.

  3. 1. I never really thought about my favorite part of a book.
    2. We don't really have street fairs - in a big city, it is hard to block streets. But we do have festivals all summer long - and fall and spring, too. They are crowded, so we tend not to go to many, maybe one a year. The monthly food truck festivals are fun, even if the lines are outrageous. This year we went to an outdoor movie on Art Hill and they had a ton of food trucks there, so it was kinda two events in one.

  4. 1. The part where everything comes together and you get to see what the author has been doing all along :D

    2. No.

  5. 1. I LOVE epilogues. A good ending always satisfies me and then I can happily move on to another book knowing that the previous book was well enjoyed.

    2. Here, in India we celebrate the festival of Diwali. known as festival of lights. It beautiful everywhere and all the houses are lighted up with lanterns. It is my favorite festival.

  6. Q1. The ending of course! But when it comes to books like romance, or ones I know the endings of, I like the middles, because I want to read about the journey they undertake to get to the ending.

Q2. Not really. We have those markets like farmers markets and sometimes a few bazaars held once a month or once every few months but that's about it.

  7. My favourite part of the book is right after I've been hooked. As soon as I know I can't put it down and need to know what happens next, that's my favourite part.

I'm still learning what events and festivals are here, but in the last month there were 2 salmon festivals, and art festival and a homemade artisan festival. The homemade one was my favourite.

  8. 1. My favorite part of the book is the ending.

    2. We do have alot of small festivals. We have farmer markets, fall festivals and some other ones.

  9. 1. I love the beginnings. It's exciting to be starting a new adventure.

    2. We mostly have fairs in the parks rather then streets. One week it will be dog lovers, then home & garden etc - small expos really.

  10. 1. I don't have a favorite part, I usually like the entire book.

    2. I live in a small town, we don't have street fairs or festivals.

  11. 1. don't have one
    2. no

  12. 1. The whole book, especially the opening line. :)

    2. There are various street fairs and festivals in Cyprus, including the Limassol Wine Festival.

  13. My favorite part is the ending.

We live in a small Iowa town. Each year in July we have a celebration called Watermelon Day. There is a parade, small carnival, food stand, ball games, and FREE WATERMELON for all attending. The town is really hopping that day!!!

  14. 1. I don't really have a favorite part of a book...I enjoy the experience as a whole.

    2. They have tons of fairs in Dallas but they are too big and crowded for me to drive that far to attend. They don't really have any in the small towns around where I live.

  15. 1. I don't have a favourite, if a book is well written it's an enjoyable read from beginning to end.

    2. Yes but I don't go as I don't like crowds.
