Sharing Beyond Books #35 Comment Giveaway February 11, 2011

Welcome to another late SBB. We just had a rush trip to south Florida. DH drove so he took the brunt of it but it was still rushed.

Thank you to all those who commented last week.
The large majority of us would choose to be a millionaire in the 1800s. Only Krystal was willing to be a cavewoman for partial choice. :-)

I was surprised by how many of you don't keep lists although several said they thought it might be a good time to start. At least nine of you keep your list on Goodreads and other online group lists. That seems like a good idea.  Miki started her list at the young age of 8!

The Winner from SBB #34 comments is: #8 Tore. There are still 8 'love' books to pick from, 3 Christmas choices and 1 Summer title below. Tore please choose a book from the remaining Love Books List for Giveaway or remaining Christmas Giveaway Books, the one summer book below OR pick from the ARC box and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #35 Questions

Q1. This week Margaret asks:  When downloading those freebies in a series do you actually buy the sequel??
A:  If I like the first in a series I will almost always end up buying the next... I do love a good series! Also, sometimes the freebee is book #2 and I have to get #1 as I don't like to start mid series.
I wanted to think of an example: I got Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater last summer as a free download from SYNC YA Listening at AudioBook Community.  I have purchased Linger and Forever on Audible since.  I hope to listen to Forever soon!

Q2. Here is my question: Do you have special plans for Valentines or do you hope to get a special gift??
A:  We are looking forward to our church youth sponsored Valentine's dinner tomorrow night. No special gift is expected although my DH usually gets me some flowers and/or makes me a nice dinner. Chocolates are nice too but we are trying to diet so maybe not this year.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question FormAt the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)  The question list is being replenished!  Thanks for sending in questions!

Your turn to share:

2. Do you have special plans for Valentines or do you hope to get a special gift??

  1. 1. In fact I've already done that! And to take this a step further - it's often that through a freebie I only ever discover new authors and end up buying more of their books.

    2. I'm the Grinch of Valentine's Day ... 'nuff said!

  2. 1. I haven't, but if it was amazing & there was something I just HAD to read I probably would.

    2. Valentine's is not a big deal in our household & I'm fine with that. So no special plans at all.

  3. I don't have an e-reader so I can't take advantage of the free reads.

I have no special plans this year but I will babysit my grandson so his Mom and Dad can go out to diner instead.

  4. 1. If I enjoy the book, then I tend to purchase the rest of the series.

    2. For Valentine's Day, my husband and I usually celebrate with dinner at a nice restaurant and a movie. :)

  5. 1. I haven't downloaded any freebies but when I win a print copy and like it I will buy more books in the series.

    2. No plans for Valentine's Day. A special gift that I already received is a heart filled with M&M's from my four year old grandson. :)

  6. 1. I don't really know if I would or not. However, I have downloaded the first book in a series when I have found it for free because I had later books in the series.
    2. No plans - just working all day. I have a middle school production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opening on Thursday, so Valentine's Day is deep into tech week, which means no night out for me.

  7. 1) I rarely buy the sequel, especially of ebooks.
    2) I have to study for an organic test :)

  8. I don't necessarily buy the sequel to those freebies or the ones I win. It depends on how great it was and the money situation.

Here's my big Valentine's Day plans...I'm going to the dentist for a filling. Exciting, huh? Well, I am older, single, no relationship. I will be home with the dogs so my son and his wife can go be romantic.

  9. I dont have any special plans for Valentines Day. I don't expect to receive anything. We just don't have the money.

  10. Hi,

to be honest i'm not fond of ebook at all so i can't say but i guess it would be like if i win a book and i love it i generally buy all the others

as for valentine day, i haven't found my soulmate yet so i will spent the day enjoying myself with a good book and a cup of tea

    all the best

    gfc: miki

  11. 1. I never get freebies, so I can't get any other books in the series. Oh, well, I have plenty to read, over 3000 books!

    2. Nope, no Valentines day stuff, it's just going to be a regular day for me :)

  12. Freebies are way to discover new authors and if I like the free book, I probably will buy the other books in the series. No plans yet for Valentine's Day.

  13. Q1: if I like the book I downloaded, I will buy the sequel.
Q2: no special plans for Valentine's Day, will be spending the evening in with my hubby.

  14. 1. I usually get a copy from the library first to see if I love it before I buy a copy to keep. Too often the first book is phenomenal but the second book is lacklustre. Have learnt my lesson!

    2. A book gift card would be great!

  15. 1. It depends on how much I liked the original and the author

    2. We're cruising in 2 weeks so no Valentine gifts this year

  16. 1. If I like the series I will buy the next book and sometimes more than one book. I like reading new authors books and have found so many new authors that I like.

    2. Nothing special for Valentines. Just staying home with my 4 cats. My daughter usually gives me a card and sometimes candy.

  17. 1. It depends on how much I enjoy the book downloaded.

    2. I don't have any special plans for Valentines as I'm still single, but of course a gift would be greatly appreciated. ;)

  18. 1. Like others have said, it really depends on how I think after reading the freebie. If after reading it, I have to have the next book, then I'll most likely buy it.

    2. No special plans for Valentine's for me.

  19. 1. I have never actually downloaded any book in a series before so I can't really comment on it but I think I would get the other books if I liked the first one!

    2. Nope. No bf, no Vday for me. Alas I spent it in front of the TV and computer (right now typing this).

    Happy Valentines everyone!!

  20. 1. Yes absolutely. I am a sucker for a good series. I hardly ever read single titles. I the first book caught my fancy I will buy every other book in that series :)
    2. We had nothing special planned for Valentines day, time are tough this year and we have our anneversary coming up on the 19th. We are saving to be able to go out for a fancy dinner then.

Happy Valentines and thank you for runnig such an awesome blog!
