I finally feel mostly better although I still have some congestion. I am thinking maybe I am experiencing some allergy issues. Ah well.
Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
12 of us collect bookmarks and Faith Hope Cherry Tea makes bookmarks. Two people collect coffee mugs and a couple like them, as well as T Shirts which were mentioned a couple of times. The unique items mentioned were: Poetrynleaves wants to collect tattoos; Carol L likes to collect quotes; and Gaby II collects book related jewelry.

The regular Winner from SBB #216 comments is: #14 Rubynreba who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated ARC/Review titles or (not yet updated) Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. I'm hoping to update the book choices this week. Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.
WEEK #217 (One Question.)
My question this week: When did you first get a computer and what kind was it?
I know this dates me. I got my first computer (for my law office) in 1982. It was an Osborne. It was a rather ugly thing (looked like a bulky suitcase) but it changed my work life! It used 5 1/4" floppy disks and as I recall the computer program I had to learn was C Basic.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.

My question this week: When did you first get a computer and what kind was it?
SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the February 2015 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. One of these days I will get together a new box of Christmas titles.)
SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday September 5, 2015 at 5 PM central.
My first computer was I think an IBM that had both a 5 1/4" floppy disks drive and a 3 1/2" floppy disk drive. If it wasn't an IBM computer then it was a Dell. I do remember that it had both floppy disks drives and I think it had a Compact disc drive too. I had it in 1996 to 1998 before getting a newer Sony computer.
ReplyDeletehum let see i got a computer when i needed it for school it was a very simple outdaded one" ( already at teh time) with win2000 i think
ReplyDeleteI probably got my first computer around 2000. We seems to upgrade the tower every few years. The monitor less so. I love a large desktop computer best. Love the big screen and just the whole set up.
ReplyDeleteCan't remember what kind of pc it was but something with mario bros + games for the kids!
ReplyDeleteWe bought our first computer in 1991 and it cost $4,000 dollars, when I sold it all I could get was $50.00, that was in 2000. I don't remember what brand it was.
ReplyDeleteMine was a computer/laptop from work - about 14 years ago
ReplyDeleteCongrats rubynreba!
ReplyDeleteOhhh boy this way a LONG time ago. I think I got my first 20 years ago?? I think it was a HP computer. And I used to play lots of PC games on it since I was still young and didn't have email and all.
Mine used to hook up to the tv. Can't remember what it was called... from the early 80's.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner!
It was a commodore 64, I think.
ReplyDeleteMy first computer at work was in 1992 and I think it was a commodor but everyone called them the dinosaurs. They were constantly going down. Before that in college, I took a course in Fortran, learned how to do "do" loops and had to drop out because I got really sick that summer. I remember walking down a long ramp unto a basement at Indiana University and passing by the glassed in Main Frame! We had to type punch cards and create a program to alphabetize a list of names. I can't remember the name of the one that we first had at home but I do remember that it had Windows 95 and I was so glad of that!!

We got our first computer around 1996. It was an HP. I remember we were worried what was going to happen on December 31, 1999! So nice 2000 came in and no computer problems! Thanks for the win. I'm going to pick These Boots Weren't Made for Walking by Melody Carlson.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the computer details, but it was awhile ago - during the 80s.
ReplyDeletefor school- can't remember
ReplyDeleteI bought my first one in 2000. I now have a desktop and a laptop. I use the desktop most of the time.
