I had a rather busy day with Skype meetings/training. Does anyone have special plans for Easter? I am looking forward to church worship service and a quiet day. I hope everyone gets to enjoy a beautiful day!
Thank you to all who shared last week.
By far the biggest factor mentioned in selecting book to read was the blurb/summary/premise/plot which was mentioned in 12 comments. Author was mentioned by 9; Price was mentioned by 5 and Series was mentioned by 4. Other factors considered include: cover catches attention; review comment, genre and even size of print. Cindi and Mary ask whether it is a book they will read over and over while Ricki keeps her Q simple: "Do I want it?"
There are a variety of juices we like but the most favorite is orange with 9 mentions. Some of you drink fairly unique flavors like Linda's guava and Carol NW's healthy aloe vera! And while I was noted the choices I had to go get myself some juice! Grape 'cause we didn't have apple.:-)

WEEK #93 Questions
Q1. Emily asks: What book/series influenced you the most as a child??
A: We have previously answered our favorite childhood book but this Q is different. The Bible would be my first answer. The Encyclopedia my second - yes I really spent a year or so reading through it! But for fiction I would choose the Nancy Drew Mystery series -- they were fun to read and they gave a positive image/model for a young girl to follow.

Q2. My non-bookish Question this week: Did you buy anything special this week? For Easter or other celebration or spring break??
A: I didn't buy anything for me but I bought an Easter coloring book for my granddaughters and I helped my daughter buy a few items for their Easter baskets. This has been our Spring Break week so the family has been away enjoying the beach.
I wish I had seen these adorable DIY gifts sooner!
I could have added it to some small items for my Secret Sister.

1. Enid Blyton's books :D I love her books because her stories empower children with intelligence and courage and dignity.
ReplyDelete2. No.
1. The book that left a lasting impression on me was "My Bedtime Book of Magic Carpet Stories" by Patricia Taylor (1971) - it sparked my love for reading and traveling at a very early age!

1. Saw the picture of The Secret of the Old Clock and I was like "That's it exactly". I discovered Nancy Drew through some old books my mom had, along with some other series that are no longer in print - such as The Dana Girls. These mysteries made me a fan of the genre, and these books from my mom turned me into a collector of pre-1980s books from the Stratemeyer Syndicate.
ReplyDelete2.My mom's birthday was Thursday but we are celebrating today on Easter, so I bought her a cake.
I had those Choose Your Own Adventure books that had different endings depending on the choices you made throughout the book. I don't know how many there were total, but I never lost interest in them as there was usually a different ending to explore.
ReplyDeleteThis week, I bought some SF books. Being a non-Christian, I sometimes loose track of when Easter is. I can only tell by the sudden dearth in Easter candy.
1. My mother introduced me to Little Women, Little Men and on I went.
ReplyDelete2. We cant' eat much sugar so we bought two small Cadbury egg, one for my hubby and one for me. I usually get out my porcelain egg, that opens up so you can see a little sweet chick inside.

Q1. Okay....not the conventional type. I grew up on Disney and Sesame Street! Seriously. I had the whole SS set.
ReplyDeleteQ2. Nope. Have not been out much this week except for family Easter dinner earlier.
Happy Easter!

There are already so many great choices mentioned. I'm going to go with Nancy Drew and Little House on the Prairie. I read them so many times. They were both so adventurous with strong female characters.
ReplyDeleteMy son doesn't eat candy or chocolate, so I bought him some activity books to play with. He is quite excited about the cutting one since he loves his scissors.
1. I wasn't much of a reader as a child and honestly can't think of one book from when I was little. Pathetic really!
ReplyDelete2. Nothing for myself but I bought lots of goodies for my girls. I fill my girls baskets with fun & useful things. They both got new purses and wallets this year and new sun glasses with a few other things. Very little candy goes in their baskets.
1. Enid Blyton. I loved her book! Maybe that's what started my love of fantasy & magic.
ReplyDelete2. I didn't get anything special over the w/end. Unless you count books. I bought Dracian Legacy by Priya Kanaparti which was on sale for $0.99. I'd been eyeing that book for some time & finally caved in.
