Sharing Beyond Books #85 Comment Giveaway February 2, 2013

Hello, Welcome to SBB and Welcome to 2013!
Hi! I am so glad to be feeling better. I hope everyone is staying healthy!:-)
Thank you to all who shared last week.

Well, five brave souls do have tattoos: Brooke has 7 and Jolene has 4, nrlymrtl and her man have ring tattoos (sweet), Tore has Pegasus on her back and Linda K has permanent eyebrows. Two others are interested in getting tattoos but the majority of us said "no."

Many of us do like book scavenger hunts particularly if they are smaller and not too difficult to find. We agree that time is an issue of concern. A couple of us do not enjoy them..

The Winner from SBB #84 comments is: #14 Di. There are still 4 'love' books to pick from and new Christmas choices. Di please choose a book (or GC if international) from the fifteen Love Books List for Giveaway, the new Christmas Giveaway Book list, OR pick from the Updated ARC/Review List and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM. [I am uploading a new set of Valentine titles shortly! :-)]

WEEK #85 Questions

Q1. Lissette asks: What's the craziest thing you have ever done just to get a book you really want??
A:  It wasn't too crazy but in November 2008 I carried a picture of AJAX from Red Fire by Deirdre Knight around on our Spain Cruise. I took pictures to submit for a contest and won $25.00 GC and a copy of the book.

Q2. My Question this week: Do you like snow??
A: I do like snow - for short visits. I am glad I don't live where is snows though.  And I wouldn't want my books to get in the snow. :-)

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! I STILL HAVE A GROUP OF QUESTIONS AVAILABLE BUT THEY ARE FROM ABOUT FOUR PEOPLE SO SOME OF YOU MAY WANT TO ADD A QUESTION OR TWO! We can always use fresh questions.

Your turn to share:

1. Lissette asks: What's the craziest thing you have ever done just to get a book you really want??

2. My non Book Question this week: Do you like snow??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the remaining Valentine and "Love" books (new list of fifteen) or the new Christmas Giveaway Books. Also I have added the Updated ARC/Review List now.

SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on any (or all) of the two/three questions above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.

I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made by Friday,  February 8, 2013 at 10 PM central.

  1. 1. I honestly don't think I ever did anything crazy to get my hands on a certain book other than buy it. I don't even pre-order books, so ... apparently I am a very patient and/or lazy person! :-D

    2. I do, but only over Christmas. And of course I never get what I want. It's either snowing in early December then it gets spring like around November, just to get awfully cold and snowy and icy in January. If I didn't know any better I'd say this is some sort of conspiracy.

  2. 1: What i did to get a book and that was crazy... i participated in a contest where the goal was to reach more than 5000 comments in less than 24h( each 5000 a new winner was added) so i nearly spend the day on it, loosing time because of teh capcha , my hand hurting and on teh day it was mostly 5 of us who did comment the most ( the comment could be repetitive and i admit after a few hour copy paste was my best friend) At the end i was really happy to ee that the 5 of us got a copy ^^ we had won it fater all

    2) i like looking at the snow seeing everything white so the undisturbed snow whoah. but i live in a uite big city and thus teh snow doesn't stay long before becoming gray or black or worse so many walking on it transform the gently rassuring snow in hard ice couch... and since my ankle has been hurt i really hate those. We had some two week ago and i'm not arssured at all when i need to leave the house ( but seeing it on the roof, gardn etc it's so lovely)^^ a real dilemne in a sense

  4. 1. I've not really done anything crazy to get a book.

    2. I enjoy snow...from a distance. :) I live along the coast, but there's snow in the mountains (during the winter months), which is about an hour drive from my home.

  5. I haven't done anything too crazy to get a book - tho everywhere I travel I tend to pick some up and then end up paying extra to bring them home.

I like there to be snow if there is going to be negative degrees. I don't really like dry, cold weather, the kind that causes your skin to crack and bleed.

  6. I haven't done anything crazy, but I have placed high bids to get my hands on some out of print books I wanted. I do like snow. It snowed last night.

  8. 1. The only thing I can think of is leaving a big note on the refrigerator for my children to see my Christmas book wish list. Not so crazy & very effective.

    2. Years ago when I lived in Sydney, we would go down for weekends to the snowfields. I tried skiing & decided it was NOT for me. I did like toboggans - on the baby slope. I even built a snowman once. I haven't seen snow for years now. No snow in QLD. I don't think I would like to live with snow.

  9. 1. I have never done anything crazy to get my hands on a book that I really wanted. I usually just go ahead and buy it.
    2. I love the snow. I moved from what was considered as the Snowbelt area to a warmer state and miss the snow very much. I have always loved to look at the snow and thought how peaceful it made everything.

    2. I haven't seen snow but I think I will like it provided I don't get it all the time :D

  11. PatL:
No, I don't like snow; always afraid of sliding while driving.

Craziest thing I did to get a book was take a picture of myself on a truck with the featured book trying to make it look like the photo to copy in the contest.

And what is your must buy author?

  12. I've never done anything crazy for a book. I once really wanted an out of print book from an author after reading one of hre other books (& loving it). I wrote to the author telling her how much I'd enjoyed the book (which was the truth of course) & how disappointed I was that her other book was out of print (no digital either). She sent me the book! I was quite speechless.

Living in a tropical country I've never experienced snow. It looks really pretty but I don't handle cold well at all. I think I'll have to do any liking of snow virtually =)

  13. 1. What's the craziest thing you have ever done just to get a book you really want??

Well, I've preordered the Harry Potter books and then waited in line for a couple of hours to get them @ midnight. That's about the craziest thing I've ever done.

    2. My non Book Question this week: Do you like snow??

I do like snow, I just wouldn't want to live somewhere where I had to deal with it. I like to visit, play in it, then head home to sunny Florida :)

  14. I can't think of anything crazy I've done to get a book.

We had 4" of snow last night. I don't like driving in it but I enjoy living where we have 4 seasons although I'd much prefer summer weather.

  16. 1. I have only done something crazy for my son when he wanted the Harry Potter books. We stood in long lines at midnight at the book store. It was worth it to see his excitement!

    2. I like a little bit of snow as long as it doesn't cause road problems. I live in the south, and snow/ice can paralyze the city. :/

  17. 1. Nothing really. We don't have a lot of book events in my country. Sad, I know.

    2. Well, I've never actually seen or touched it in real life before so it's still very magical to me.

  19. 1. I can't think of anything crazy to get a book.

    2. Living in TX I love to get snow because it is so rare. I don't think I would like it as much if it was a regular occurrence though.

  20. Nothing really crazy. A author I really liked came to a bookstore in my hometown while I was living out of state. I forced my mom to go stand in line and get an autographed book for me lol

I hate snow, really hate it!
