Sunday Post February 3, 2019/It's Monday! What are You Reading? Plus Mailbox Monday February 4, 2019

Sunday Post #318 Chairs, Compliance, and Storms
I am linking with Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading now at The Book Date (at Wordpress).
What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I had a tense week as I had a series of club reports (my responsibility) to get in by February 1. I am quite glad to have completed them and plan to use better strategy for next year.

We also had the usual business reports/taxes to get filed but Heather helped get those ready. Now I will get back to concentrating on probates and some litigation files to move along.

The dryout process is continuing at the damaged office. Meanwhile we remain on hold until the engineer and architect get their plans to us.

We had hoped to have our house roof done this week but the contractor had to change the shingle we picked.

We had several days quite cold (for us) and this weekend ended up with some heavy rains.

My listening was better than reading this week. I finished 4 books: three audiobooks and one ebook. I posted three reviews and my usual memes.

I visited 22 blogs during the week.
Shout Out this week to Lady in Read Writes. Cute play on words, right? Vidya shares reviews and life tidbits.
Thank you to all the nice people who visit me.

These were last week's posts:
  • ebA2018- Book Review: Aether's Call by John Farr; Science Fiction, Space Exploration; My Rating: 2.0 of 5.0.
  • ATBR- #Audio Book Review: Promise Me Texas by Jodi Thomas; Historical Romance, Western; My Rating: 4.0 of 5.0 Overall.

Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit
by Francis Chan
This is our Ladies Book Club book to be discussed Saturday 2/9/2019.
Source: Kindle Free TBR 2012.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and ... the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two? As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit—the Helper—so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today's church has admired the gift but neglected to open it.
Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church's power—the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we've ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan's invitation to stop and remember the One we've forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

Buried Secrets (Men of Valor Series, Book #1)

Buried Secrets (Men of Valor Series, Book #1)
Series Men of Valor Series
Author Irene Hannon
Narrator Therese Plummer and Jennifer Grace
I am sticking with more romance for February; this one is romantic suspense.
Source: Christian Audiobook Sale July 2017.
After seven years as a Chicago homicide detective, Lisa Grant has hit a wall. Ready for a kinder, gentler life, she takes a job as a small-town police chief. But the discovery of a human skeleton by a construction crew at the edge of town taxes the resources of her department. A call for assistance brings detective Mac McGregor, an ex-Navy SEAL, to her doorstep. As they work to solve the mystery behind the unmarked grave, danger begins to shadow them. Someone doesn't want this dead person telling any tales--and will stop at nothing to make certain a life-shattering secret stays buried.
Master storyteller Irene Hannon is back with an exciting new series featuring former special forces operatives now in the thick of the action in civilian life. Hannon is at the top of her game in this can't-put-it-down thriller that will have readers up until the wee hours devouring every page.

February 3, 2019 - I am staying up to date with the One Year Bible plan reading through You Version App.
I enjoyed a 10 day reading plan this week: Passion & Purpose.
This week I started a 21 day reading with others in our church: Gospel of John; What it Means to Believe.
[You can check out audio of the One Year Bible Plan on the companion commentary online.]

I completed four books and posted three reviews. That keeps me to 3 reviews to post since I am still reading the Becky Doughty title.
I continue to slowly add reviews to NetGalley, Goodreads, Amazon and Audible. I still have older ones to catch up on.
My NetGalley shelf is at 10 unread from November to date plus 4 old titles (2012!) that I might get read this year. I still have four remaining author titles in queue.

Still many through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Welcome to Mailbox Monday.

Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday. Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Leslie of Under My Apple Tree, Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit and (yours truly). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
I was momentarily at 94% feedback ratio at NetGalley; then I picked up four new review titles so dropped back to 92%
I picked up one Audible daily deals.

I didn't purchase any Kindle paid titles and I only picked up 3 free kindle titles again. (Note these are in my Amazon library, NOT on my Kindle until I download and transfer them.)
Are your mailbox and TBR piles blooming?

  10. Whew glad you were able to get your reports done. That kind of thing can be super stressful. I'm trying this year to stay on top or early of things since I failed majorly at that last year. lol So far...fairly okay. Ha! Hope you have a good week!
