Sharing Beyond Books #118 Comment Giveaway 9/21/13

Hello again on Saturday night and Welcome to SBB, Sharing Beyond Books.

Now we are truly into fall and I am enjoying watching leaves drift down.  Of course I'm not the one who has to clean up the yard!
I had a long week fighting the flu and cold. I am feeling better but still not 100% yet.

Our group of commenters are pretty evenly split with 10 who take advantage of libraries and 11 who do not. Several don't use the libraries as they are not in English or have a very limited selection. Others have plenty of books already. :-)

Only five of 22 have visited modern jails for projects or tours. Three others have visited historical jails, including Alcatraz - which is pretty awesome. And Scottsgal likes the show Lock Up. :-)

Thank you to all who shared last week.

The Winner from SBB #117 comments is: #2 Sarah M who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles, Christmas titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post.  Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.

WEEK #118

Q1. Margaret asks: Which is better dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate??
A: I love milk chocolate and white chocolate but I am not a big fan of dark chocolate -- too bitter.

Q2. My bookish Question: I know we have had a couple of questions about series but I think this one is a little different. When you read a series do you like to read them right in a row (one after another) or do you prefer reading them with a month or two, or more, between??
A: It varies for me as I have several series that I am okay with picking up a book every few months (or longer), including, but not limited to: Eve Dallas, the Woman's Murder Club, Mercy Thompson, Destroyermen and several more.  This question came to mind as I just started a new series, Charley Davidson, and I liked the first book so much I picked up the second right away. Now I am trying to decide if I should use my current two Audible credits for two more Charley Davidson or wait. Right now I am leaning toward waiting... just in case something else catches my attention before the middle of October.:-)

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We are getting low on questions so hopefully you will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.

Your turn to share:

    1. Actually The Hobbit tells the story of the ring when it is found by Bilbo Baggins. IMHO it is best read before the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I love milk chocolate. I can't stand dark chocolate because it has the bitter taste and white chocolate...it has this taste in it that I just don't like.

Q2.My bookish Question: I know we have had a couple of questions about series but I think this one is a little different. When you read a series do you like to read them right in a row or do you prefer reading them with a month or two, or more, between??

I love to read a series right in a row. I cannot wait for a month before reading a book in the series.

  4. 1) milk chocolate is my favourite

    2) part of me like to read them in a row or at least get them that way so wait until a series is finished ( to be sure it will be finished) but sinceit's not always possible i tend o read a lot in a row then stop and i wait to read a book until i have the next one too ( in case of cliffhanger)
for example if we take a series with 6books already released but stil ongoing i could read in a row book 1-4 but i wouldn't read book 5 until i got book 6 (and read book 6 only when 7 is on my shelves)

  5. 1. My favorites are milk chocolate and white chocolate. :)

    2. I prefer to read the whole series together in a row.

  6. 1. I like dark and milk; white just doesn't taste like chocolate.
    2. I prefer to have some time in between or I am likely to get confused as to what happened in which book.

  7. 1. I like milk chocolate best
    2. In sequence all in a row otherwise I find I've forgotten things.

  8. 1. Milk chocolate

    2. In a row if possible.

  9. 1. chocolate of any kind is perfect for me - definitely my weakness snack

    2. depends on the series and how far I am behind. Some series likes Woman's Murder Club I read the next installment as soon as it comes out

  10. Congrats Sarah.

    1. I like all chocolate.

    2. I like to read a series right in a row.

  11. 1. LOVE milk chocolate :)

2.I am a little bit impatient in my chase to the happily ever after so I mostly do prefer reading a series where all the books or in many cases most of the books are out.

  12. 1. I love dark and white chocolate. I started eating dark chocolate because of its health benefits and got used to it. Now I don't like milk chocolate. Before it didn't matter!

    2. I enter giveaways for books and the ones that I usually win are not at the beginning of the series so I try to enter for standalones only. I can't afford to buy a whole series by myself.

  13. 1 - Dark Chocolate!! Isn't great that it is now considered good for us!

2 - Love to read a series one after the other - I've found a lot of series that are already all out so I love to read them. One series I started that is still coming out is Mary Balogh's starting with 'The Proposal' looking forward to 'The Arrangement ' and the rest.

  14. 1. I love milk chocolates but sometimes I like to have dark chocolate
    2. If I can I love to read series all at once.

  15. I like dark chocolate best but can only eat very small amounts because I am allergic to it. I know my limits.

If I am reading a series, I prefer to have time and books in between. Otherwise, I feel like I am reading one gigantic book.

  16. Q1. Milk chocolate wins it for me every time. :)

Q2. I like to read series close together, which is why sometimes I will wait to start a series until a few books are out. On the other hand, I don't like when I come to a series late and have like 10 books to read to catch up lol. That's a bit overwhelming.

  17. 1. I prefer milk chocolate, but do enjoy white & dark at times. Add nuts & I'll eat it all quite happily.

    2. I do love it when I have a complete series so that I can read back to back. I don't mind reading other books in between, but I don't like having to wait months or years for the next in a series. I prefer to wait before I begin.

  18. When it comes to chocolate, I do not discriminate. Chocolate is my friend.

For some series, especially with larger books, I like to have time in between to let each individual book sink in and be fully enjoyed. The shorter the book, the more quickly I pursue the next book.

  19. I love milk chocolate, but I've started to like dark chocolate too.

I prefer to read series books fairly close together, pretty much as soon as I finish the review for one, I want to pick up the next one.

  20. Milk chocolate for me.

I have to read series books in a row.

  21. Q1. Dark chocolate all the way. Besides, white chocolate isn't even really chocolate.

Q2. I do like reading them in a row, rather than having to wait FOREVERRRRR for a new one. Though I will wait for sequels to come out.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1. all of the above
    2. depends on the series

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1. Dark Chocolate any day any way!

    2. I am a series junkie and prefer to read a series in order and all that are available at a time. In fact I prefer to not even start a series until at least two to three books are out because I get to impatient wanting to know what happens next.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1. All of them!
    2. I like to read them one after another.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 1. I like milk chocolate best when it's just a normal piece of chocolate, though I prefer dark chocolate when it's in combination with a cookie. Weird, I know.

    2. It depends - if I already own more books in a series I tend to read them back to back, if not I am usually a bit more patient and wait a little while before purchasing and reading it.
