Sunday Post July 21, 2019/It's Monday! What are You Reading? Plus Mailbox Monday July 22, 2019

Sunday Post #318 Chairs, Compliance, and Storms
I am linking with Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading now at The Book Date (at Wordpress).
What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

Work went along well. My assistant was out two days with sick children.
We celebrated our daughter's birthday this week with pizza and cake at the office. She is the one in the middle. She is thirteen months younger than our son.

Hubby's testing got a good clear report: no new heart blockages. It seems the problems now are related to the fact that his lunds are not operating properly. He has to rely on the oxygen more and more which is frustrating for him.
Our weather here continues to be hot. I hope everyone stays safe during these hot days.
I had a very good week of reading with a day waiting in hospital giving me a few extra hours. I finished six titles: 3 audiobooks and 2 ebooks and 1 childrens ebook. I posted four reviews on the blog and posted my usual memes.

I visited 18 blogs again last week.
Shout Out this week to Pixireads. Sarah is a reviewer, maybe future author. She seems to like some fantasy that I like too.
Thank you to all the nice people who visit me.

These were last week's posts:
  • A2019- Audio Book Review and Tour Giveaway: The Hashtag Hunt by Kristina Seek; Genre: Clean Romance, Inspirational Romance, Romantic Comedy; My Rating: 4.5 of 5.0 Overall; Story 4.5; Narration 4.5.
  • ATBR- Audible Book Review: Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett; Genre: Historical Thriller, Spy Thriller; My Rating: 4.25 of 5.0 Overall; Story 4.25; Narration 4.25.

Kingdom of Exiles (The Beast Charmer Book 1) by [Martineau, Maxym M.]

Kingdom of Exiles
by Maxym Martineau
I am enjoying the intrigue and
intense attraction in this story.
Source: 2019 NetGalley; Release date June 25, 2019.
Description:
My heart wasn’t part of the deal when I bargained for my life,
But assassins so rarely keep their word.

Exiled Charmer Leena Edenfrell is running out of time. Empty pockets forced her to sell her beloved magical beasts—an offense punishable by death—and now there’s a price on her head. With the realm’s most talented murderer-for-hire nipping at her heels, Leena makes Noc an offer he can’t refuse: powerful mythical creatures in exchange for her life.
Plagued by a curse that kills everyone he loves, Noc agrees to Leena’s terms in hopes of finding a cure. Never mind that the dark magic binding the assassin’s oath will eventually force him to choose between Leena’s continued survival…and his own.

Space Dragons
by Robin Bennett
This sounds like a fun dragon adventure.
Source: 2019 NetGalley.
If Stan Pollux had known he would be spending his summer holidays in the outer reaches of our solar system, he would have put on different underpants.
But when he gets kidnapped by the Planet Dragon Mercury, most things suddenly seem small and insignificant. Stan finds himself in a universe of dragons who had once ruled the skies as gods: Mars, Venus, Saturn and even Uranus way out back. This is shaping up to be the best summer holiday in the history of the cosmos until Stan discovers his stupid sister is missing and that Pluto (AKA Hades) is trying to use her to destroy the Solar System. And it will be all Stan’s fault if he doesn’t get Poppy back.
So, all Stan has to do is learn how to fight like a hero in space armour, defeat the dragon god of the Underworld, Hades, rescue his sister and save the world. All before his parents realise she is missing.

The Curse of the Pharaohs
The Amelia Peabody Series, Book 2
By: Elizabeth Peters
Narrated by: Barbara Rosenblat
Series: Amelia Peabody, Book 2
Length: 11 hrs and 41 mins
This is another title from my older Audible TBRs.
Source: July 2007 Audible Purchase.
Publisher's Summary
The sun rides high over the British Empire and the light still sparkles brightly in Amelia Peabody's eye as she returns for her second adventure in archaeology and romantic mystery as recounted in her lively journal, The Curse of the Pharaohs.
It was Sir Henry's intention to ensure that no tomb had been overlooked in the previous expedition. Scarcely had the men been at work for three days when their spades uncovered the first of a series of steps cut into the rock.
The Times gave the story a full column, on page three. The next dispatch to come to Luxor, however, rated front-page headlines. Sir Henry Baskerville was dead. He was found next morning stiff and stark in his bed. On his face was a look of ghastly horror. On his high brow, inscribed in what appeared to be dried blood, was a crudely drawn uraeus serpent, the symbol of the divine pharaoh.
Instead of digging up the treasures of a lost age, it appeared that Amelia and her friend Radcliffe were excavating a deadly curse.
Don't miss the rest of the Amelia Peabody series. You can also check out more of our Most Addictive Series.

July 21, 2019 - I am still enjoying the devotions and readings with the One Year Bible plan through You Version App. I fnished a 5 day study, Quiet Time for the Soul. I plan to start a new study tonight. [You can check out audio of the One Year Bible Plan on the companion commentary online.]

I completed six books and posted four reviews. I have three reviews to post this week.
I have been adding newer reviews to NetGalley, Goodreads, Amazon and Audible. (Eventually I will add older reviews.)
My NetGalley shelf is at 13 unread. I still have 1 April titles which I will pick up next. [Plus I have 4 old titles (2012-13.)]
I still have four author ebook titles in queue and I still hope to read at least one this month.
Still many through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Welcome to Mailbox Monday.
Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday. Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Leslie of Under My Apple Tree, Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit and (yours truly). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
I received one new review title this week through NetGalley.
I bought eight audiobooks - one from Chirp and one Audible credit, two Audible Daily Deals and four on sale at Audiobooks.com. (Just under $30.00 total.)
I downloaded week 13 titles from SYNC.
No free kindle titles this week. (Note these are in my Amazon library, NOT on my Kindle until I download and transfer them.) Are your mailbox and TBR piles blooming?

Review Titles
I received another title from NetGalley:
Bark of Night
by David Rosenfelt
I enjoy this series and although this is jumping ahead of some I haven't read, I think it will be okay.

  3. That looks like a good birthday celebration. I am guessing though that the oxygen is really important for your hubby as without it he would get tired/dizzy etc. Oh boy, the trials of ill health. Happy reading this week Martha, take care.
