Sharing Beyond Books #280 Comment Giveaway November 26, 2016

Hello again and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.

Nine commenters like (short) recaps or find them useful to remind of characters after a gap between reading in a series. Four of our blog friends don't mind a recap and four others feel it depends on the series/genre and delivery. They feel it is good for short recap in epic fantasy but not as needed in romance. Also several mentioned they prefer short recap to length and don't want it done through lots of flashback. MaryP isn't certain she has read many books with recap and bn100 doesn't feel she reads that type either. CarolL likes to read her series books in sequence so she skims over recaps.

The Winner from SBB #279 comments is: #6 Brooke who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated ARC/Review titles or (not yet updated) Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. [I'm hoping to update the book choices - maybe the beginning of next year, lol.] Please let me know your choice by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #280
(One Question.)
Miki asks: When do you get a new yearly agenda (if you have one) in December to be ready on the first or you wait until the new year start. Do you prefer a simple one, a bookish one (with citations etc) or another kind??
I do want to have a new calendar before January 1st. I have received a couple from work sources but I like to get one to hang on my wall and one to carry in the car. I like gorgeous pictures for my wall calendar and sweet images or quotes for the smaller one.

Nope- It won't be this one!
Image Found at Parade.
Perhaps I will get the 2017 389 Unforgettable Senior Moments Page-a-Day® Calendar for my dear hubby!

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify.
Four questions in November were provided by: Becky, bn100, Nikki and Miki. Random.org chose #1 so Becky gets to chose a book.

Your turn to share: Miki asks: When do you get a new yearly agenda (if you have one) in December to be ready on the first or you wait until the new year start. Do you prefer a simple one, a bookish one (with citations etc) or another kind??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the February 2015 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. One of these days I will get together a new box of Christmas titles.)

SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday December 3, 2016 at 5 PM central.

  1. Congrats, Brooke! I got my new 2017 agenda a couple of weeks ago. It was cheap but sturdy and would do its job. I never buy expensive ones because I'll probably abandon it soon and use an app on my phone.

  3. I like getting a new calendar before the new year begins. Nothing fancy, as long as it has holidays marked & space for me to pencil in notations & reminders.

  6. I like to have one well in advance of the new year so that I can record future appointments and such as I make them. I always look for one that has cute animal pictures.

  9. I used to purchase a new pocket calendar in December, so I'd be ready for the next year. However, now I tend to only use the calendar on my phone.

  10. We get a beautiful calendar from our local pharmacy. It's free and has large squares for writing in. This hangs in the kitchen. The whole family uses it. No one has missed an appointment yet.
