Sharing Beyond Books #277 Comment Giveaway Novmeber 5, 2016

Hello again and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.

Six commenters had no strange remedies to share. I was aware of the use of aloe for cuts, Vicks on the feet for coughs and the pillow between the knees (I sleep with a small pillow under one knee). I had not heard of the sugar to clot blood, the tea tree oil to fight off fleas and the spaghetti with marinara sauce for upset stomach. I might try those sometime.

The Winner from SBB #276 comments is: #10, Becky who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated ARC/Review titles or (not yet updated) Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. [I'm hoping to update the book choices - maybe the beginning of next year, lol.] Please let me know your choice by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #277
(One Question.)
Becky asks: Do you have a favorite house plant that you love to grow??
I have always loved to grow African Violets. At one time I had over 32 violet plants and a dozen varieties. They are my favorite even though I only have one right now. I also have several Christmas cactus that are growing well. One other house plant that I light to grow is orchids -- after all I do live in Florida!

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify.

Your turn to share: Becky asks: Do you have a favorite house plant that you love to grow??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the February 2015 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. One of these days I will get together a new box of Christmas titles.)

SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday November 12, 2016 at 5 PM central.

  1. What I'd like to do is orchids, very feasible in our climate. Never done it but would like to try.

  2. No, I don't have a green thumb

  3. I have trouble growing plants outside let alone inside. No favorite.

  4. The only plant I have is a white Kalanchoe. It does't need much care and has long lasting flowers.

  5. Congrats, Becky!
I have so many plants you'd think my living room was a jungle... lol. My favorite is a toss up between my Anthurium and my Orchid. I do love a good fern though and always have a couple in the house.

  6. Congrats Becky!

I like to grow the dieffenbachia.

  7. Congrats Becky.
I used to have house plants, but, I do not have a green thumb, so I gave it up.

  8. not really but i have a very old plant of basilicum which gives me a lot of seeds that i offer to those who may need it

  9. Congrats Becky. I don't have a green thumb. For some reason nothing grows for me. :) And I have tried.

  10. I have a begonia that I've been really lucky with keeping alive---and it blooms!

  11. I have two favorite house plants, I love growing spider plants and African violets.

  12. Yup! A variety of cactus that's called Queen of the Night. Very fickle-minded thing though. Sometimes there are loads of buds, sometimes none for months.

  13. Currently no houseplants, but I do enjoy fresh flowers at home.

  14. I do not have any houseplants but enjoy growing plants and flowers in my garden.
