We spent a nice lunch visit today with my sister, brother-in-law, two grand-nephews and a grand-niece. Had computer troubles later in the day so I am working from my smaller travel computer now.
Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
I was impressed by how many commenters have gardens, although there were a couple of black thumbs. :-) Many would like to grow vegetables and some fruit trees. There is lovely variety.

The Winner from SBB #156 comments is: #11 Llehn who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles, Christmas titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.
WEEK #157 (One Question.)
Q1. Marjorie asks: Do you read more books by women or men??
A: Good question but I have never checked this. I will guess that I read more female authors although male might be increasing as I read more sci fi.
Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We still have a supply of questions but from the same people so hopefully others will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.
Questions for June were offered by Becky, LisaC, bn100, and Marjorie. Random.org picked #3 = bn100.
Your turn to share:

I definitely read more male authors - Patterson, Woods, Grisham. I like the legal thrillers and mysteries
ReplyDeleteI read more books written by female authors than male authors.
ReplyDeleteWomen, because I read mainly romance but surprisingly even the fantasy books I read are mostly written by lady authors
ReplyDeleteI believe that I read more male authors than female authors, and I think that is because my 2 favorite genres are male-dominated (scifi and fantasy). Of course my 3rd fave (historical fiction) is probably also male dominated, but I would have to run stats on it to be sure. Perhaps I should experiment on myself and only read female authors for 6 months and then male authors for 6 months and see if I have a noticeable difference in reading enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteI doubt I have checked! I go by the genre and substance of the book.
ReplyDelete99% of the books I read are by women - I mostly read romance and I don't know many male authors who write romance. Here's a follow -up question: are there any male authors that write romance that anyone can recommend? (the only one I can think of is Leigh Greenwood).
ReplyDeleteCongrats Llehn!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I read more female or male authors. There seems to be a fine balance for me.
Mostly women.
ReplyDeletehum yes good question.... i think i read more of female authors at the moment ( after all all my favourite are female ( or team husband and wife^^;; like ilona andrews) but i never really checked and honestly two or 3 time si thought it was a male because of the name before months or years later i discover it was a woman instead^^;; so i guess i'm not teh reference for this anwers^^
ReplyDeleteOver time the mix would probably even out, but right now I seem to be reading a lot more works from male authors.
ReplyDeleteI'm noticing that I have been reading more female authors now.
ReplyDeletepbclark(at)netins(dot)net
probably equal
ReplyDeleteWomen.
ReplyDeleteI tend to read more female authors since I read a lot of cozy mysteries.
ReplyDeleteI read a variety of books, so I think that the authors are fairly balanced between men and women.
ReplyDeleteI read more women authors for sure. I read mainly romance books and there just aren't that many male romance authors.
ReplyDeleteI've never though about the split, so I checked the books I've read so far this year, and it's pretty evenly split.
ReplyDeleteMore by women and mainly with female leads too.
ReplyDeleteI have just started reading books by a Canadian author Linwood Barclary and his books (my first male author to read). His book No Time for Goodbye is just the best page turner, wow.
