Sharing Beyond Books #39 Comment Giveaway March 10, 2012

Welcome to another Saturday SBB. I am tired after a busy week and strange nights - either crashing early or staying awake too late. Now I will lose an hour tonight as we set our clocks back.

Thank you to all those who commented last week.
Most of us prefer simpler contest entries, some would prefer equal (one per person), although one or two like many entries. And several agreed that captcha is annoying.

All but two commenters like ratings although many agree that they like to look at more than ratings - things like author, cover, back cover blurb and, of course, review comments. :-) I think that makes me more cautious on giving a lesser rating on a book that has good points but wasn't for me. I will have to be careful to make that clear.  Mystica and Abby prefer to read the reviews and not look at ratings.

The Winner from SBB #38 comments is: #15 Carol M. There are still 8 'love' books to pick from and 2 Christmas choices. Carol M please let me know if you want a GC (if you are international) or choose a book from the remaining Love Books List for Giveaway or remaining Christmas Giveaway Books, the one summer book below OR pick from the ARC box and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #39 Questions

Q1. This week Abby says: Okay, I have a two-part question I hope has not been asked before.  A) was sort of asked when this was hosted by Dollycas as Enquiring Minds but B) is new I think.

A) How do you like to sleep? Left, right, middle, horizontally?
B) Where do you sleep the best (ie. on the sofa, bed, Lazy Boy)??
A:  A)As I lay on the bed I would be on the right and DH is on the left with little dogs at the feet or in the middle. Also I am a very still sleeper and barely rumple up the sheets except when I have to tug them from DH or dogs.  B) I definitely prefer my own bed and I miss it when I travel.  I often take my own pillow for car trips.

Q2. My book related question this week: Has blogging changed your reading habits??
A:  I have to answer a resounding "Yes" to this question. I think I have been reading more plus expanding and changing my genre likes. I spend my evenings writing reviews or other posts. I giveaway books and other things - that's fun. Well, for me, all of it is fun!  And I thank you my blogging friends for sharing the fun with me.  :-)
I found a bunch of cute blog images but I liked this one right away!

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question FormAt the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)  The question list is being replenished!  Thanks for sending in questions!

Your turn to share:

  1. Has blogging changed your reading habits??
absolutely! it feels like i am on a deadline in order to get reviews posted for what i'm required to read for blog tours, etc.
becoming very selective in choosing which books i review in order to keep the pleasure in my reading!

  3. 1. I sleep in the middle of the bed which is no problem (or surprise) seeing how I don't have to share ;-) unless you count my plushy friends, of course! That said, it's definitely my bed where I sleep best. When I was younger (oh my, now I sound old) I could sleep pretty much anywhere, but no more ... there were times I could fold myself into two airplane seats and actually catch some ZZZs (ok, I am old).

    2. Oh definitely! I always read a lot, but now I read twice as many books. I also read a lot more from other genres than I used to before and with so many great blogs in front of my nose it's hard not to be tempted to read all kinds of books that intrigue me and which I would have never heard of if I weren't blogging myself.

  4. Congrats to Carol M.
I sleep on the right of the bed in a semi fetal position. :) It's the most comfortable for me. Can't sleep on my back.

I'm most comfortable and sleep deeply in my bed. I can sleep on the sofa but not as deeply for some reason.

  5. 1. I sleep on my side either left or right. Though I do wake up some mornings & find I am on my stomach.

I sleep best in my bed. If I am sick during the day & take a nap, I sleep out on the big lounge.

    2. My access to blogs has broadened my reading. I now read genres I would not have thought to in the past.

  6. 1.A)As I lay on the bed I would be on the left and DH is on the right. Unless I am in the bed by myself than I tend to be in the center.
    B) I definitely prefer my own bed, but I can sleep anywhere. I have fallen asleep on the sofa while watching TV and have fallen asleep in a chair and sleep for a good 3 to 4 hours.
    2. As a reader, following the different blogs that I do has changed my reading habits. I have found a lot of new authors and new books to read by following blogs.

I am a follower by email.

  7. 1. I sleep on the right side of the bed, but I sometimes go diagonally after my husband leaves for work in the morning. I definitely sleep best in a bed, but cars would be a close second.
    2. No. Although I was reviewing for seven years prior to having a blog, and that did change my reading habits.

  8. I sleep on the right side of the bed, on my right side. The side of the bed isn't the important thing to me, mostly that I am facing out. I prefer sleeping in my own bed, by myself, without my husband or son there.

Blogging has definitely changed my reading habits. I read more genres (more specifically YA. I never touched it before blogging) and pay closer attention to how I feel and react to books.

  9. 1. A) A am a leftie when it comes to sleeping. Although I move a lot so I don't always end up on the left in the morning!
    B) BED! It's not easy for me to sleep in chairs and other places. I like my pillows everywhere!

    2. Not really. Even though I do have a blog I sadly have been quite inattentive to it. But I think more so, reading book blogs has expanded my genre choices. Never before had I even heard of dystopian books before last year. NOW, I want to read more of them!

    A) Middle.
    B) On the bed!

    2. Has blogging changed your reading habits?
Nope. I still read books I'm interested in. I still love discovering great new authors.

  12. For a while I slept on the left but when the kids came along I switched to the right side because it was easier to get to them during the night. I always prefer sleeping in my own bed.

I've never blogged but by visiting blogs I've found a lot of new authors to read.

  13. As lay on the bed, I sleep on the left side of the bed on my left side. My dog takes up the rest of the bed even though he only weighs 12 pounds. Fortunately, I don't move around a lot. At night I sleep best in my bed but, during the day I nap in my recliner chair with my dog. If I lay down on my bed to nap, I wake up.

My reading has definitely changed since reading blogs. I have discovered so many interesting new genres I had never read before and for that I am thankful.

    2. Nope. I still read a whole darn lot, I just try and make it scheduled, but that hasn't really changed what or how much I read. Yep.

  15. I like sleeping on my left side. I sleep best in my bed. Blogging does take away from my reading time but so does my job. I love blogging. I am a follower and email subscriber. Tore923@aol.com

  19. 1. Right side on a bed.

    2. Definitely. It has changed my perceptions, even the genre of books I read. I never read paranormal or fantasy or time travel before. Now I do and I think that is purely due to the blogging.
