Thank you for commenting last week. (Sorry I had the wrong link up last week - I did include Abby who commented on the previous week's post.) If you haven't finished shopping now... guess you'll be getting in on the post Christmas shopping! LOL
Only about 1/3rd of us read classics. Many of us have such large TBR piles that we do not include classics. That is a bit of a shame. I love that Ricki started reading classics thanks to Marvel Comics and Krystal gives credit to a teacher. Interesting that Dickens was mentioned a couple of times and Birgit included The Christmas Carol as a Christmas fav even if it is in movie form. :-)
Most of you do not read a traditional holiday book - again too many TBRs! Those who do read holiday books read Twas the Night Before, the Nativity or some Holiday Romances. It sounded like a couple purposely avoid holiday reads. What? Maybe you should be reading The Grinch? Just kidding. :-)

Q1. This
week Abby asks: If you could be a character in a book, which universe (realm/period) would you choose to be in??
A: That isn't an easy question as there are too many good choices! The first one that popped into my mind was The Lord of the Rings; then Harry Potter. But I like some of the future/Sci Fi worlds too. And to be a character in a book I would want to lose at least 30-35 years in age! If I am picking the actual character I pick Doc (Delilah Oliver Clementyne) in the future space world of Girl Gone Nova by Pauline Baird Jones. This is part of a series I will be featuring (finally) in January.
Q2. Since it is Christmas Eve I want to know: Do you open presents on Christmas Eve, Christmas morning or Christmas later in the day?
A: We had a family tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve. When we were kids it was always pajamas. :-) Now that the kids are grown we aren't planning to open any of our few gifts tonight but we do have a special one our daughter has to open tonight. I can't say what it is in case she peeks at the blog today. :-) Then tomorrow we will be at their house to help the little ones open ALL of their (too many) gifts.
Whenever you open your gifts I hope each of you, my blog friends, have a
WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS DAY
And for me it's nice to know I can open the Gift of God's Love every day of the year.

1) I definitely would like present times. Also always as a woman.
ReplyDelete2) Open presents Christmas Day after morning service.
1. I would love to be in the world of Thursday Next - I want to be in a fantasy world where cool stuff happens (and what could be cooler than going into books?), but I want modern conveniences like indoor plumbing.
ReplyDelete2. All three - Christmas Eve is at my husband's mom's sister's house, then Christmas morning at home, then on to his parents then my parents.
1. I'd settle for the future or (as it doesn't always have to go hand in hand) rather the science fiction genre in general. Discovering whole new worlds would be just my thing!
ReplyDelete2. Presents will all be opened on Christmas Eve. Yay to living in Europe, hahaha!
1. 1920's when women were beginning to enjoy a touch of emancipation. Exciting times.
ReplyDelete2. We open one present Christmas Eve & the others after church on Christmas Day.
1. I would like to live in the future so I could all the new technology that is coming.
ReplyDelete2. We open some gifts at my son's house on Christmas Eve and we open the rest at my daughter's house on Christmas Day.
I would have to be in a present day book, too. And, as a woman, of course.
ReplyDeleteWe open gifts on Christmas morning. Not as early anymore since my son is grown and doesn't get up at the crack of dawn.

1) I prefer present times as well, female!
ReplyDelete2) We open presents after mass Christmas Day edysicecreamlover18@gmailDOTcom
I would love to be one of those superheroes in the X-Men comics that have a supernatural power. We open our presents at midnight.
ReplyDelete1. Too many to list!!! But always as a girl, and of at least all of my favourite book's universes :)
ReplyDelete2. We usually do all gifts on Christmas, but this year we did cousins, aunts and uncles, and Grandma and Grandpa's presents on Christmas Eve, though I don't know why. But it's a good thing that we did, since I didn't go to the supper today that has great-aunts and uncles, and their kids :)
1. Going for Harry Potter! Apart from the magic, I really love all the delicious treats.
ReplyDelete2. I don't celebrate Christmas but if I did, I would wait for Christmas morning to open the gifts.

I'd like to be Eve Dallas from the In Death series but on her day off :) This way IO could meet Roarke.
ReplyDeleteWe open all our gifts on Christmas Day now. When the kids were little they'd get to open one gift on Christmas Eve and it was always pajamas.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

1. I would probably like to be Daine in the world of Tortall (The Immortals quartet by Tamora Pierce). She has "wild magic" which means she can communicate with animals/control them/shape shift into one and has some other powers, too. Although she doesn't always seem to have fun, she is always happy in her life and it would be fun to be her (at least for a while).
ReplyDelete2. I'm not sure what you would call this, but we open presents as soon as we wake up on Christmas, which is usually around 12pm. Morning for us, but not for most people.
I forgot to put my email- sorry.
