Sharing Beyond Books #250 Comment Giveaway April 30, 2016

Hello again and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!
We are securely in Spring with the beautiful flowers and weather, even with some rain. I won't speculate on how soon we will move into Summer weather.

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.

Four commenters are adamant that they always prefer the book to the movie. Two more don't watch movies so the book is always better. Two commenters rarely watch the movie as well as reading the book. That leaves six of us who have seen at least one movie that was better than the book and MaryP agrees that sometimes a movie can help explain a book.

The Winner from SBB #249 comments is: #14 Janhvi who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated ARC/Review titles or (not yet updated) Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. [I'm hoping to update the book choices - maybe the beginning of next year, lol.] Please let me know your choice by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #250
(One Question.)
My question this week. (This has been in my Q queue since 2013.) 1. Do you watch political debates and/or follow election coverage??
It is not my intent to discuss the candidates but, yes, I am following the campaign news. It is hard in a presidential election year not to. The debates and campaigns this year have been disappointing to me. My primary observation is that I wish I was hearing a lot more on the issues and less name calling across the board. It appears we have to do a little more digging to see the real positions.

I appreciated the well stated article (except for the swear words) by Todd Daniel Crawford.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.
Oops - I forgot to announce April comment provider winner. The comments were provided by: Carol, Rosebud, BN100 and Elizabeth. picked #2 so Rosebud gets a book or GC.

Your turn to share:
My question this week. (This has been in my Q queue since 2013.) 1. Do you watch political debates and/or follow election coverage??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the February 2015 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. One of these days I will get together a new box of Christmas titles.)

SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday May 7, 2016 at 5 PM central.

  1. Politics in my part of the world can get very heated and boisterous in my part of the world! Cricket and politics are two subjects which can never be conducted in a calm atmosphere!!!

  2. I live in Europe and don't own a TV, so I don't follow political debates/election coverage in the United States. Only what I read online.

  3. I do pay attention to issues raised as it affects so much of life

  4. I do follow election coverage. It gets irriating watching the debates because it's usually two adults slinging barbs at each other like two children.

  5. Congrats to the winner!
I follow campaigns but never watch debates, they just seem like a big put down show to me.

  6. Congrats Janhvi!

Yes I do watch the debates and follow election coverage. If I don't vote then I really can't complain about the way the country is going.

  7. It's hard to miss what's going on during elections. Like you I would like to know more about policies rather than be subjected to childish behaviour.

  8. i do watch them and being international watching those in teh USA can be very surprising ebcause it's done really differently in my country

  9. I watch the campaigns, both The American and Canadian ones. It is such an interesting year for politics.

  10. I have been following the campaign news and what the candidates are saying and what some of the news programs are commenting on them. I haven't been watching the debates.

  11. I don't watch them all but I try to keep up with what the candidates are saying. I feel it is my right and duty as a citizen to be aware of who will be running out country. I do not like what has been going on this year either with the name calling and arguing.

  12. I don't really pay attention until it gets closer to the actual presidential election. Besides, I prefer to learn more about the candidates through other, more insightful and potentially less biased methods.

  13. I tend to follow the election coverage online.

  14. yes I have watched the political debates I liked to be informed before I vote
