I hope everyone who celebrates had a beautiful, blessed Easter day!

Heather still had days out this week with doctor appointments for her, her significant other and the children.
I had to do a rush hire for a new clerk this week so we had time spent on training. But I do feel we are getting work done, bit by bit. Have to do some bookkeeping these next two weeks for tax preparation.

Stock market started to pick up at the end of the week. I watch closely but am comfortable right now. 

We got to enjoy a few hours visit with our grandchildren Friday night! Saturday I took my granddaughters to the nail salon with me. They left earlier since I was getting pedicure too.
I wanted to get a picture of their nails too but right now I just have mine.

Pink toenails for spring (3 months) and
Easter egg nail colors for the next four or five weeks.

We are enjoying the cooler Spring weather. I did have to drag out the umbrella one night to get out of the office.

I had a good reading/listening week. I finished three audio books and one NetGalley ebook. I posted three reviews and my usual memes.

I visited 19 blogs last week.

April 4, 2021 - I love seeing new things each time I read the Bible. I am glad to still be current with morning reading. (I got one day behind but and caught up again.)
I am reading/listening to the NLT Tyndale version of the Bible on You Version App so Hubby and I are reading the same passages each day.
I enjoyed another Easter study this week: Holy Week: Pause, Ponder, Pray.

I completed four books and plan to get those reviewed this week.
NetGalley shelf is still at 7.  I added one to the shelf and added one to reading this week.
Three author titles now in queue.
(Plus a few that I received from facebook links and newsletter sign-ups, not specific review requests.)
Still many titles through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Sunday Words of Encouragement April 4, 2021 Happy Ressurection Day!

Our church celebrated three baptisms this morning. Then Pastor shared his Easter message of Celebration. 

Celebration of new lives; celebration of secured lives. We Celebrate Jesus!
Jesus left the tomb without the captive.
Now we share in the celebration of the gift of salvation, not the Easter bunny.
The Good News was shared in all four gospels by the Apostles, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
They witnessed this event in person!

If Jesus had stayed in the tomb, His story would be over.  But here is the story:
John 19 and 20:1-18.

Jesus proclaimed: “It is Finished.” John 19:30.
Angels from Heaven said “Dear woman…” John 20:13. Jesus said to Mary: “Dear woman…” John 20:15.
Who is He calling today? “Dear woman” “Dear man” “Dear Child” He is calling each one. He is calling you!

You have a choice: return to the old promises of ashes to ashes with nothing more. Or choose the promise of the empty grave; choose the resurrected life!
Proclaim for yourself: “It is finished!” The work may not be complete in you yet, but the old life is finished, and you have a hope and a future. Celebrate in the Risen Lord!

Writer asks: Do weather/season changes affect your reading habits??

I think we have asked a similar question before especially regarding season. I do like to plan a book or two that fit the season but not so much weather. That is an idea for a future reading goal: sunny, cloudy, rainy, foggy, snowy, etc..

Review:
I had no idea who Common was as I don’t listen to hip hop. (Actually I listen to very little music as I am listening to audio books.) I picked this because I wanted to learn about the medium of hip hop and about this artist’s journey.

The author/artist presents this performance as vocal letter to his father, recalling their times together before his father abandoned the family and the long-time impact that had on him. Common shares from his heart s few times of joy, but more times of struggle through his growing years and an underlying pain of rejection. He also shares of young love and how that grew through the years to a point where he might seek to settle down after a wandering lifestyle.

I enjoyed the work and the hip hop poetry and prose that was shares. The words captured and conveyed the emotions of the artist. There was some foul language but fortunately it didn’t permeate the work. I recommend this to those who enjoy music variety and to those who are willing to experience a different cultural art.

Audio Notes: Common shares this work in performance mode, before a live audience. Clearly he is a skilled artist, both in word and presentation. I am glad I had the opportunity to experience this work and thank Audible Originals for making it available.

If you saw the pictures posted of my bookshelves and boxes you know I do have lots of books! And that doesn't include the other eight or so boxes at my office!! And more books as I find deals too good to pass up! I am sharing my book bounty by these Friday Pick Giveaways.

I started Friday Pick on November 27, 2009 and in almost TEN years I have posted 91 groups of 16 books plus an additional 21 totaling 1,477 books available to find new homes! (As of November 6, 2020).

I am happy to say that so far about 1,355+ books have found new homes through this feature! YAY. [A year or so ago I posted I had reached 2000 books given away. As I calculated the numbers 11/2/17 I realized that had to be an error. I realized I went from 1098 to 2001 instead of 1101. Guess I was tired; sorry for the error.] I have to update my print out to check the exact number sent out - a few were never claimed. I periodically update the lists - deleting those won. You can still go to the Friday Pick list link to see older posts and the older lists book pictures if you want!

Note rules here regarding international entries.

Because postage to overseas can be prohibitive I am willing to give a $5.00 book certificate to international winners - Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, ARe, TWRP, ClassAct Books, eTreasures, Desert Breeze, etc....you tell me where and I'll set it up. So for my overseas visitors, your comment may indicate a smaller book and I'll check postage or note your choice of gift card.

I learned that The Book Depository does not ship to everywhere. The postage for some of the books to faraway places runs between $7.00 and $10.00 and up. Since I would award $5.00 for The Book Depository to an international winner, as an alternative you may choose a smaller book and we will hope the postage will not exceed $6.00. If the postage is more, or if you want to pick a larger book and you are willing to pay any extra postage beyond the $6.00 I will work with you on that. This may not make a difference to many but if it helps one or two of you to give one of my books a home that will make me happy too. :o)
