This looks like a repeat from last week:
"Work continues. Our new employee seems to be doing well considering how much we have 'thrown at her' this week.
I contacted the architect's office repeatedly but, in spite of one reply, there is no progress. I'll be back on the phone this week."

I found a couple of poppies like this along our front walk. Sadly most of the yard is full of weeds as we wait for the yard man.

Tiger Lily is moving normally and eating again.
Our weather is expected to reach the 100s this week. We are waiting for a new air conditioner to replace the one broken. (The upstairs one still works.)
We're watching the finale of Game of Thrones tonight.

My reading/listening week was so-so; not wonderful. I finished 3 books: 2 audiobooks and 1 ebook. I posted three reviews and my usual memes.

I visited 22 blogs last week.

May 19, 2019 - I got a half day behind and had to catch up this week. I am still enjoying the devotions and readings with the One Year Bible plan through You Version App. I read the three day plan: You Are What You Think. I'll pick another study this week. [You can check out audio of the One Year Bible Plan on the companion commentary online.]

I completed three books and posted three reviews. I continue to be current for review posts.
I have been adding newer reviews to NetGalley, Goodreads, Amazon and Audible.  (Eventually I will add older reviews.)
My NetGalley shelf is now at 15 unread. I am working on the now 6 April titles. [I have 4 5 old titles (2012-13!) that I might get read this year too.]
I still have four author ebook titles in queue.
Still many through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Sunday Words of Encouragement May 19, 2019

Our Sunday School teacher finished his wrap up of 1 Corinthians. Church began with awesome praise and worship. Pastor’s Sermon continued his Life Skills series with “Conflict Resolution”.

A baby has basic life skills but has to learn to eat, burb, pass gas and more with the help of the parents. Marriage skills are learned over time with the couple growing. From the time of being children, to adults, people deal with conflict in a variety of ways: yelling; physical wrestling (fighting); competing; keeping score. Then there is parental (or outside) interference and when mature enough, relational.

Obviously, many have not learned to deal with conflict. The divorce rate is over 50 percent, even in the church. Often people run away instead of resolving a conflict. They run from a job, from a marriage, from a town or community, even from a church.

James 4:1-2 asks ‘What is causing the quarrels among you? You want what you want; if you ask God, you don't ask with right motives.
Conflict occurs when there is distance between expectations and reality.
We are either the victim or the offended.
When we have a conflict situation we can be one of three in our reaction:
1. Peace-breaker
2. Peace-faker
3. Peace-maker
James 3:18 says “Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”

Resolving conflict is so important that it comes before worship. Matthew 5:23-24.
We are encouraged to live in peace: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18.

To be a peacemaker we have to breathe grace.

Point: We are called to be peacemakers, and peacemakers breathe grace.

Psalm 34:14: seek peace and pursue it.
Make every effort to live in peace … to receive the grace of God and avoid the root of bitterness. Hebrews 12:14-15.
Resolving conflict brings growth and joy. Unresolved conflict brings destruction and bitterness. That is the work of the enemy – not of God.

These are steps to resolving conflict:

• Define the problem and stick to the issue. Don't generalize, keep to a narrow, specific issue.
• Pursue purity of heart. Seek God's input.
• Plan a time to meet.
• Affirm that the relationship is more important than the conflict.
• Listen, and listen some more.
• Forgive.

Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Forgiveness says:

• I won't bring it up again.
• I won't dwell on it in my heart or mind.
• I won't talk about it with others.
• I won't let the issue stand between us.

Resolve your conflict; take care of it. Resolve it soon.
Commit to: When conflict arises take on the role of a peacemaker.

Lord, I pray that you help me be a peacemaker when there is conflict to be resolved.

Elizabeth asks: Who is your favorite Games of Thrones character (from the TV show and/or the book series)?? I'll add a question: If you haven't read or watched Game of Thrones do you think you will??

There are definitely some intriguing characters. I do like Arya, especially as the "No One" assassin. I do think my favorite character, even if not the most interesting, is Jon Snow. And the best villain, at least until last week, was Cersie. Although if I think back there actually were some horrendous, evil, characters like Ramsey Bolten.

Review:
Mercy has declared the Tri-City area as a safe place for the fae. The government and the Grey Lords, fae leadership, are seeking to meet to work out some guidelines for normal humans and the fae creatures to live safely beside each other. The meeting is to take place in Mercy’s hometown with Mercy’s mate, Adam, and the werewolf pack members providing security. Considering her unique relationship with the fae, Mercy has been recruited (directed) to participate by arranging a safe location.

While the joint meeting is barely being discussed, Mercy is called upon to help deal with some strange community incidents. Mercy faces a rogue, killer goblin and next she has to deal with zombie miniature goats. Mercy gets help from appropriate allies, like Larry the Goblin King and a new pack member, Sherwood, who brings some surprising skills to bare when faced with black magic. The zombie goats are determined to be the work of an invading witch group.

Mercy and Sherwood go to check on the local witches and discover tragedy and horror. They find one survivor, a nearly dead kitten. Mercy and Ben save Adam and a small group of government officials from a bomb. When a curse attack against Mercy is accidentally discovered at her garage, it becomes clear that the enemy witches, including one called “death”, are not only trying to take control in the community, but they want to block Mercy and the joint meeting. Dangers escalate and Mercy seeks the aid of her fae friends, Zee and Tad, and even the wildly instable vampire, Wolfe, to take on the black witches and the minion zombie army they have created.

This is a series that keeps on providing strong entertainment through strong characters and engaging plots. The relationship between Mercy and the werewolf pack is always interesting. Of course, her bond with her mate Adam is particularly well done. The black magic in this story creates a dark tone with evil and death putting a bit of a damper on Mercy’s usual snappy humor. I enjoyed the cameo touch with Mercy’s family, Coyote and Mercy’s brother. I also liked the unique zombie creatures and the surprise connection that appears during the battle. I wasn’t overwhelmed with this episode, but it maintains the entertainment level of the series for me. I recommend the whole series and suggest starting at the beginning for full enjoyment.

Audio Notes: I’ve probably said it before, but Lorelei King is the gifted narrator for this series. She has unique voices for the characters and brings the right emotion and energy to the story. She even captures the darker mood of this story. It is a pleasure to listen to this series on audio.

If you saw the pictures posted of my bookshelves and boxes you know I do have lots of books! And that doesn't include the other eight or so boxes at my office!! And more books as I find deals too good to pass up! I am sharing my book bounty by these Friday Pick Giveaways.

I started Friday Pick on November 27, 2009 and in almost EIGHT years I have posted 82 groups of 16 plus an additional 21 totaling 1,333 books to find new homes! (as of November 9, 2018).

I am happy to say that so far about 1,247+ books have found new homes through this feature! YAY. [A year or so ago I posted I had reached 2000 books given away. As I calculated the numbers 11/2/17 I realized that had to be an error. I realized I went from 1098 to 2001 instead of 1101. Guess I was tired; sorry for the error.] I have to update my print out to check the exact number sent out - a few were never claimed. I periodically update the lists - deleting those won. You can still go to the Friday Pick list link to see older posts and the older lists book pictures if you want!

Note rules here regarding international entries.

Because postage to overseas can be prohibitive I am willing to give a $5.00 book certificate to international winners - Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, ARe, TWRP, ClassAct Books, eTreasures, Desert Breeze, etc....you tell me where and I'll set it up. So for my overseas visitors your comment may indicate a smaller book and I'll check postage or note your choice of gift card.

I learned that The Book Depository does not ship to everywhere. The postage for some of the books to far away places runs between $7.00 and $10.00 and up. Since I would award $5.00 for The Book Depository to an international winner, as an alternative you may choose a smaller book and we will hope the postage will not exceed $6.00. If the postage is more, or if you want to pick a larger book and you are willing to pay any extra postage beyond the $6.00 I will work with you on that. This may not make a difference to many but if it helps one or two of you to give one of my books a home that will make me happy too. :o)
