Happy Saturday Night! Hope you have all had a nice summer week. I've been enjoying my reading when not working. (I couldn't get Random.org to work this evening so I put numbers in a bowl and picked.)
Thank you to all who shared last week.
The majority of commenters prefer to read the book before seeing the movie. Four will see the movie, one so they won't miss what the movie script didn't cover, and two have no preference. As for favorite romance movie: the most picked was Pride and Prejudice. I guess I need to see that ...I do like Emma but haven't seen PandP. The second most picked was The Notebook, another movie I haven't seen.
Tore mentioned several good movies I didn't think of like Lady Hawk. Birgit's favorite is Pillow Talk which reminded me that I used to love to watch Glass Bottom Boat with Doris Day. :-)

The Winner from SBB #60 comments is: #13 Tore There are still 6 'love' books to pick from and 2 Christmas choices. Tore please choose a book (or GC if international) from the remaining Love Books List for Giveaway, remaining Christmas Giveaway Books, OR pick from the Updated ARC/Review List and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM.
Q1. Birgit asks: 1. Apart from reading them, have you ever repurposed old books? Eg used old hardcovers as base for a bedside lamp or got crafty and made a mobile out of a picture book??
A: Other than giving away old books, I have not done 'repurposing.' However I do have some old law books and I keep thinking of making one of those designs like the picture below. Or maybe I can think of a way to make a table out of them... that would be cool too.
Q2. My question: Have you watched any of the summer Olympics? What is your favorite sport to watch?
A: I usually enjoy watching gymnastics and swimming. However, we haven't watched more than a very few minutes this summer.
Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far. Either way - it works for me. :-) The question list is being replenished! Thanks for sending in questions!

1. So far I didn't get crafty with old books though I've seen some amazing ideas on Pinterest and while browsing on Etsy. So far the only thing, other than reading of course, I am using books for is as a side table aka as TBR piles *lol*.
ReplyDelete2. Nope. I am not big on sports in general.
hi martha!
ReplyDelete1. i never repurposed my books. if i no longer read them, i keep them in my bookshelf, on the back.
2. due to time differences, it's hard to watched the olympics. but my favorites are the gymnastics and swimming.
1. I did have a book that got "eaten" in the mail, and I did make bookmarks from some of its pages and cover.
ReplyDelete2. I watched some of gymnastics, swimming, water polo, volleyball, sand volleyball, track, and cycling. I guess women's gymnastics is my favorite, although the men's floor exercises were good, too.
Q1- I have never done that.. Hmmm.. I have some old books but I don't want to "repurposed" them. I don't have creativity for it.
ReplyDeleteQ2- Well, I haven't watch a lot either. Just as few minutes. I love to see swimming, too. Volleyball and soccer.
Congrats to Tore.
ReplyDeleteI've never repurposed my books but there are so many crafty ideas out there. One in particular is an amazing idea. This Etsy shop makes purses out of old books. If you're interested here's the link to the shop.

i have been following your blog for a while, but never commented. Your questions are always interesting. i bought some old hardcover books at a garage sale for the sole purpose of repurposing them into plagues. You glue the pages together in an open position, paint it all black and put a picture or verse on the open pages!
ReplyDeletei don't have TV, but if i did i would watch the equestrian sports
1. I've only used books for reading, I never thought to use old worn out books for anything.
ReplyDelete2. I love watching gymnastics.

In helping my parents go thru some of their stuff, we found several books with active bug damage going on. Some of these books were frozen, killing the bugs, and then the minor damage fixed. However, others were too far gone. So I turned them into compost. Maybe not the most glorious ending to a book, but better than the landfill.
ReplyDeleteI love gymnastics - both rhythmic & artistic; I think rhythmic might be more entertaining to watch tho. I like quite a few of the other sports as well; athletics, swimming, diving, tennis (yay Andy Murray!) to name a few. I didn't watch as much as i'd have liked to. Usually when I'm running at the gym.

ReplyDeleteI have watched a little of the Olympics. Last night I watched Mo Farah run an amazing race for Britain. I like women's gymnastics but somehow missed most of it this time out.

ReplyDeleteI haven't tried that.

ReplyDelete2. I haven't watched any of the Olympics yet.
1. I have never re-purposed books, it feels like a bit of a sacrilege to me actually.
ReplyDelete2. We love the Olympics & watched as much of it as we could. The coverage left a lot to be desired I thought. Swimming would be our favourite, but in truth we watch whatever is on offer, because these are the best athletes in the world.

1. never repurposed books except to give them away
ReplyDelete2. we love sports in my house so we watched the olympics each night. The prime time coverage however stunk this year - the same sports day and after day were shown. Love watching the young athletes give it their all after training for so many years.

1. Nope, but I think crafts made from old books are so cool.
ReplyDelete2. Yes I have! I've watched as much as I could. My favourite sports to watch are diving, swimming, gymnastics, and rowing. But I especially enjoy watching the opening and closing ceremonies!
1. No, I am not very creative. I think crafts from books are really neat, though.
ReplyDelete2. We watched some of it, mainly gymnastics.
1. Nopez. I love my books too much to do that to them. Unless it's some ratty old textbook which I didn't like then maybe in the future I'll turn them into origami OR to wrap presents with?
ReplyDelete2. YUP! Gymnastics, diving, shooting, archery, fencing, some swimming, badminton ooo...and track too!
I did watch the Olympics. My favourite sports were swimming, track & martial arts (judo, taekwondo).
