Mailbox Monday August 25, 2014

Welcome to Mailbox Monday.
Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs.  This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday.
Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Leslie of Under My Apple Tree, Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit and Vicki of I'd Rather Be at the Beach.
Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

I didn't receive or select any review books last week.
I also purchased four Kindle books and picked up many free kindle titles.

(I still have many author requests to consider and reply to.)

Are your mailbox and TBR piles blooming?

It's Monday! What are You Reading? August 25, 2014

This meme starts at Book Journey!

What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

It's been another good week though I am juggling work between title company, law office and publishing company.
Although I enjoyed my reading and listening it seemed slow. I only finished two books but I am well into the third.  I posted three book reviews and a separate tour giveaway.
I also posted the usual memes. :-)

I did get to visit  a little early in the week and a little at the end of the week.
Thanks as always to all the nice people who visit me.

These were last week's posts:
Finished Reading:

Bound to Danger: A Deadly Ops Novel
by Katie Reus
I am 70% through this and enjoying this.
I received this from the Publisher through NetGalley.
Click on book title for full description.

2.  eBook/Kindle

The Traitor (Captive Hearts)
by Grace Burrowes
A Regency Romance from a reliably good author.
I received this from Sourcebook through NetGalley.
Book Description
Publication Date: August 5, 2014
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Grace Burrowes delivers a passionate, danger-filled Regency romance...
The past will overtake him...
Abandoned in France since boyhood, despite being heir to an English barony, Sebastian St. Clair makes impossible choices to survive a tour of duty in the French Army. He returns to England hoping for the peaceful life of a country gentleman, though old enemies insist on challenging him on the field of honor, one after another.

But this time, he will not fight alone...
Millicent Danforth desperately needs her position as companion to the Traitor Baron's aunt, but grieves to learn that Sebastian must continually fight a war long over. As Sebastian and Milly explore their growing passion, they uncover a plot that will cost Sebastian his life and his honor, unless he does battle once more-this time in the name of love.

3. eBook/Kindle

Winter's Passage
by Julie Kagawa

I choose this as a book with "Winter" in the title as a result of a recent giveaway.
There are several other choices for "Winter" from my Kindle Library but I thought I would start with this novella.
Book Description
Publication Date: May 20, 2010
Julie Kagawa's bestselling series The Iron Fey captivated the imagination—and hearts—of readers of all ages with its mix of magic, fantasy and romance. Enjoy this special bridge novella, which takes place between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter.

Meghan Chase used to be an ordinary girl…until she discovered that she is really a faery princess. After escaping from the clutches of the deadly Iron Fey, Meghan must follow through on her promise to return to the equally dangerous Winter Court with her forbidden love, Prince Ash. But first, Meghan has one request: that they visit Puck—Meghan's best friend and servant of her father, King Oberon—who was gravely injured defending Meghan from the Iron Fey.

Yet Meghan and Ash's detour does not go unnoticed. They have caught the attention of an ancient, powerful hunter—a foe that even Ash may not be able to defeat….

I am pretty sure I will pick an audio choice this week but I haven't decided what title yet.

I am still one day ahead on my daily Bible reading.
I have disciplined myself each morning to read my Bible passage before I pick up print, Kindle or mp3. I am really enjoying the reading.

Line Edits:
We are still finalizing formatting for four ebook re-releases, two fiction and two non-fiction. We are also working on releasing several novels in print.

I still have some books carried forward and I still hope to read at least one of my own TBRs this month. I completed three reviews last week and hope to post at least three this week.

Sunday Words of Encouragement August 24, 2014

We had a lovely praise time today and then a graduation ceremony for preschool girls and especially for four young girls who received Honor Star status for their studies in Mpact.
We then celebrated communion. There wasn't a full sermon but Pastor reminded us the purpose of partaking in communion is to remember Christ's sacrifice of body and blood to secure the gifts of redemption and inheritance. Physical and spiritual healing is ours if we believe and accept.

I felt compelled to share this video that our on vacation Sunday School teacher put up on his FB page yesterday to encourage us to prepare for church. :-)
If the copied link doesn't work here is the link:
http://todaychristian.net/universalist-muslim-jew-holy-ghost-filled-christian-prays-watch-happens/

HUGE secular conference invited a Holy Ghost filled Pastor to pray along side with a Muslim, Universalist and Jew Awesome response!
The name of Jesus Christ is not a magic word. The power is not even in saying words, but in understanding and believing all that the name of Jesus Christ signifies. His name represents all of His finished work on the cross, fulfilling God's plan of redemption and salvation, victory over sin, death, and over the devil's entire realm
(From Nairaland Forum.)

Verse for Today:
Philippians 2:9-10 (NIV)
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Thank you God for your awesome creation, including me. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice and your free gift of grace! Thank you Holy Spirit for being with me every breathing moment to help me along my way in this fallen world.

Sharing Beyond Books #165 Comment Giveaway August 23, 2014

Hello again on Saturday night and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!
It seemed like a nice day even though I worked on treasurer business and work. Not overly tired right now.

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
I thought last week answers were interesting. Seven out of 17 would not finish a "bad" book. Six of us would finish and then seek to "heal", as miki put it, by reading a favorite author or re-reading a favorite book. Nrlymrtl talks her man's ear off and then goes for a favorite author or book. Sue and Sarah switch to a different genre hoping for a better read, which that sounds like a good suggestion.

The Winner from SBB #164 comments is: #14 Alyn who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles, Christmas titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post.  Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.

WEEK #165 (One Question.)

Q1. Marjorie asks (submitted in the Spring but it could work year round): Do you do a big spring cleaning of your house or do you clean as you go daily??
A: I need a good 'spring', 'summer', 'fall' or whatever season, cleaning! I spend over time cleaning when I do and I don't have much time (or desire) to do that anymore. So we have a lady that comes in twice a month for dusting, vacuuming, kitchen and bathrooms. She is obsessive and I need to get her in more often to clean out closets and 'stuff' which she likes to do! I just found these great tips that are linked below. A good use for old table napkins that might have a few stains and other good tips too.
Image  and tips found at BuzzFeed.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We still have a supply of questions but from the same people so hopefully others will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.

Your turn to share:

Q1. Marjorie asks: Do you do a big spring cleaning of your house or do you clean as you go daily??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books, the Christmas Giveaway Books (this is the new link), or the June 2013 Newly Updated ARC/Review List.

a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on either of the two questions above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.

I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday August 30, 2014 at 5 PM  central.
