It's Monday! What are you Reading April 18, 2011?

This meme starts at One Person's Journey Through A World of Books!
What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I had a good week reading. I finished four books and posted four reviews, two with Giveaways; a Blog Tour announcement; Enquiring Mind Meme, Sunday post and winner posts.

I had to work crazy on closings in the early part of the week, especially since one of my assistants got sick. I was at a ladies' retreat Friday and Saturday which was wonderful. But I am still frustrated that I haven't gotten to visit other blogs. There is just not enough time to do everything I would like.

These were last week's posts plus Winner posts not listed.

Private investigator Vivi Angelino loves living life on the edge, but stepping into the shoes of a movie starlet to bait a serial killer isn't just a thrill . . . it's a ticket to the big time for her fledgling security firm. That is, as long as a certain risk-averse FBI agent stays out of her way-and out of her fantasies.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Colton Lang isn't above using his well-worn rulebook to stop Vivi's latest walk on the wild side. But when they learn her client is involved in something far more insidious than bad acting, Vivi and Colt must work together despite the electrifying attraction arcing between them. For each new clue is bringing them closer to a high-profile crime with a dark and deadly truth at its core . . . and a cold, calculating murderer with nothing left to lose.

Action heats up between Lt. Eve Dallas and Roarke
The first victim was found lying on a sidewalk in the rain. The second was murdered in her own apartment building. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas had no problem finding connections between the two crimes. Both victims were beautiful and highly successful women. Their glamorous lives and loves were the talk of the city. And their intimate relations with men of great power and wealth provided Eve with a long list of suspects - including her own lover, Roarke.
As a woman, Eve was compelled to trust the man who shared her bed. But as a cop, it was her job to follow every lead... to investigate every scandalous rumor... to explore every secret passion, no matter how dark, or how dangerous.

Sunday Words of Encouragement April 17, 2011

Today is Palm Sunday. Our church is not a liturgical church so we do not celebrate the Church Holy days or feast days like some of the more formal churches. I was raised in the Episcopal church and remember receiving palm fronds to wave in celebration and to use making crosses. I feel some of our young people miss that reminder that was a focus for our Holy week leading up to Good Friday and Easter.

Our Pastor did preach a message entitled "Expectations." The bottom-line questions I got from the message are: (1) are we looking for God? and (2) who do we perceive Jesus to be?  There were different perceptions of Jesus as he made the triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The Pharisees wanted a high priest to keep the law and balance. They were not looking for the Son of God.  The Disciples and followers were looking for a powerful King to lead them in prosperity.  The Zealots were looking for a strong leader to bring in new law and order. Merchants were looking for big crowds and sales. Soldiers were perhaps looking for trouble or maybe for a peace bringer.

Since we have the hindsight of the history of the Bible who do we look for? We can anticipate (expect) a Savior, a liberator, a healer, a comforter, a redeemer. What a joy and blessing to have these expectations.

This isn't a song video but
it matches the message so well I have chosen this today.

Verses for today:
Luke 19:37-40 (NIV)
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.

I pray that you appreciate Palm Sunday, and the rest of this week, in God's way.

Enquiring Minds - Meme Week 33 PLUS Comment Giveaway + Winner

I love the variety in your answers - different cereals and yogurt flavors. :-) Most of us do the healthy thing and eat breakfast ... although I suppose eating bacon and eggs isn't as healthy as eating yogurt would be. Scottsgal reminded me that I did love OHs for a while too. winnie listed a cereal I have never heard of -Vectors. Apparently it is a Kellogg Canada cereal.

The Winner from Enquiring Minds Week #32 is: #8. Carol L. Carol, please pick a book from the Love Books List for Giveaway or remaining Christmas Giveaway Books and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks if desired.

This meme is hosted by Dollycas Thoughts for Thursdays - which are hard for me to make.  The goal is to get to know our fellow bloggers and visitors better. Each week Dolly asks some questions for us to answer and then link up. I am late doing the post but I am trying to to participate as I would like to learn more about blogger and follower friends.

WEEK 33 QUESTIONS
Oh dear - these are fun sort of. ;-)
1. How often do you go to the hair salon or beauty parlor?
I am really bad about going to the hairdresser. I where my hair in a bob that can also flip up. The length is from chin to shoulders depending on how long between hair cuts, which is usually about four months. I color my hair myself about every 6-8 weeks. My color varies from dark auburn to pomegranate but always some reddish color.

2. Have you ever had a massage?
Yes, I have had maybe three spa type massages that I can remember. One on vacation in Cabos, one on a transatlantic cruise and one by a friend who has a private shop.  Interestingly, the only noncredit course I ever took in college was massage!

3. Have you even been able to enjoy a full day of pampering at a spa?
No, I have never done a full day at a spa. It might be lovely - as long as I could read during the day too... How sick is that!?

Your turn to share: How often do you visit a beauty parlor? Have you ever had a massage? Have you ever had a full day at a spa?
Enquire Comment Winners can choose a selection from  Valentine and "Love" books or the remaining Christmas Giveaway Books
Rules: a) Must be a follower; b) Share a comment on any (or all) of the three questions above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
