Product Description:Review: This story is a complete sensual and sweet romance in short form.
After spending twelve years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, Corey Donovan is bent on getting a little payback. He’s headed for Wayback, Texas, the place where it all began. And who better to start with than the recently widowed Tiffany Covington. Tiffany Covington is both thrilled and afraid when she learns Corey Donovan has returned to Wayback. She’s ready to repay old debts, the question is...will Corey accept her currency of exchange?
Betrayal landed Corey in prison for twelve years for a crime he didn’t commit. Now Corey has returned “to the scene of the crime” seeking revenge against the woman who betrayed him.
Corey works hard in construction during the day and finds relaxation and a bit of forgetfulness at night playing his guitar and singing at a local steak house. But the memories hit him head on when he looks up to see his ex- sweetheart, Tiffany Covington, and a 12 year old boy who surprisingly looks just like he did at that age.
Corey and Tiffany had a summer romance when they were 18. But she was the daughter of the town’s mayor, destined for class and wealth. Corey was just a reckless rodeo bull-rider. The next thing Corey knew he was in jail and there was no sight or word from Tiffany - until now. Corey has had plenty of hours to be angry and think of revenge. But the look in Tiffany’s eyes gives him pause. Maybe he can humiliate her but what is he going to do about a 12 year old son?
I really liked how the heroine’s heart is out front and how she is patient but determined to make Corey listen to her explanations. Corey is stubborn but finally the message gets through to him from a surprising source. Is it possible that they might get together and belatedly become the family they should have been?
The author does a nice job of including the twelve year old boy as a pivotal feature. The characters are warm and likeable; the sensual tension sparks between Corey and Tiffany and the emotional plotline runs sweet and smooth to a satisfying HEA. This short story indicates that I’d enjoy reading a deeper, fuller story from Ms. Coker. I recommend this to anyone who loves the second chance type of storyline or to anyone who loves solid romance and wants a quick pick-me-up read.
