Sunday Post July 12, 2020/It's Monday! What are You Reading? Plus Mailbox Monday July 13, 2020

Sunday Post #318 Chairs, Compliance, and Storms
I am linking with Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading now at The Book Date (at Wordpress)?
What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

Heather was very sick at the beginning of the week so I was on the computer for two days working remotely. She was tested Thursday for Covid and it was negative. I think she has a very bad sinus infection though or a bug that she is sharing with the other staff--- Aargh!

Our d-i-l seemed to be recovering very well and they removed half of her staples on Tuesday. We think she pushed things a bit much on Wednesday and Thursday night she had to go back into the hospital to deal with infection and blood pressure issues.
I have been spending a lot of time in the pool with my grandchildren. I taught them all how to float on their backs. The twins will be 4 next month and they learned how to jump into the water this week, letting their heads go under and swimming a bit more. Their wing floaties may be gone soon.
The 7-year-old swims like a mermaid!

Our son is out to the hospital to visit tonight so I bathed the children with a special bubble bomb I brought for them.
Then we read a couple of books and a chapter of Box Car Children.

I finished only one book last week although I am well into two more. I posted four reviews and my usual memes.

I visited 16 blogs last week.
Shout Out this week to Wanders With Books. (I love the title.) The host says: "I’m a book blogger, bookstagrammer, mother, wife, reader & book hoarder."

Don't forget- Audible is offering free children's titles during these days at home.
Audiobooks.com is also offering free listens for children.

Death Of An Aristocrat (A Lucy Anne Trotter Mystery): A Laugh Out Loud Cozy Mystery
by Anya Wylde
This author writes a truly fun romp! I am 70% done.
Source: Supplied by Author 2020.
The gossip columns can talk of nothing else, and even the Regent is intrigued. The murder of Lord Beazley at Gopshall Manor has caused a sensation, and the fact that two sweet governesses could have done it has further tickled the nations bloodthirsty soul. Lucy Anne Trotter, who stands accused, steals a horse and hurtles off to convince the only man in the country who can save her bacon— the national hero and the most handsome man in England, Lord William Hartell Adair. With him by her side, she sets out to discover the Gopshall family’s secrets and the murderer. In true Anya Wylde style, plenty of madness, kisses and burning breeches make an appearance. It’s a carriage ride not to be missed.

The Queen Bee and Me
Gillian McDunn
Release date March 3, 2020
I peeked at this and think I will enjoy the bee activities.
Source: Title from the publisher and NetGalley 2020.
From the highly acclaimed author of Caterpillar Summer comes a heartfelt story about the sweetness and stings of middle-school friendship.
Meg has always found comfort in her best friend Beatrix's shadow. Self-assured Beatrix is the one who makes decisions, and the girls have been a pair since kindergarten. But middle school has brought some changes in Beatrix, especially when Meg tries to step outside her role as sidekick.
A special science elective is Meg's first step away, but when she's paired with quirky new girl Hazel, Beatrix steps in to stake her claim on Meg. Meg is taken aback at how mean Beatrix can be--and how difficult it is to stand up to her friend. But as Meg gets to know Hazel while working on their backyard beehive project, she starts to wonder: Is being Beatrix's friend worth turning down the possibility of finding her own voice?
This pitch-perfect exploration of middle-school friendship dynamics brims with heart and hope, and will resonate with readers of all ages.

I expect I will pick up another audio this week but I'll decide when I get to that point. So many choices!

I'm keeping track of my Alphabet here as I finish the books. The cross-outs aren't easy to see, so I made the completed letters blue.

July 12, 2020 - I need to do better to keep up daily. I keep going two days behind and then catching up. I need to be in the word every day. I am again enjoying the devotions and readings with the One Year Bible plan through You Version App. I considered changing but this is the reading group that is closest to my husband's reading so we can sometimes discuss the same passages.
I finished the six-day study: Ordinary Moments: Small Prayers That Can Change The World. I will pick out another study this week.

I completed one book and posted four reviews. I have three to post this week.
My NetGalley shelf is now at 3, plus the four titles from 2012-13 which I still hope to read this year.
I'm resisting adding any more NetGalley titles until I get some of my review titles done. I still have one carry over author ebook and two one new author ebook. I have two audiobooks from authors. I feel good getting caught up on these books.
Still many titles through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Welcome to Mailbox Monday.
Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday. Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Leslie of Under My Apple Tree, Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit and (yours truly). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
No new review books.

I still have to check the email requests I have been receiving. {Sigh.}
I picked up 2 Chirp titles, 2 for 1 Audible credit, 2 audios at SYNC, and the July free download at Christianaudio.com.
I only added 2 free Kindle titles this week. I haven't taken time to view the free offerings due to this week to travel and grandchildren!
(Note these are in my Amazon library, NOT on my Kindle until I download and transfer them.) Are your mailbox and TBR piles blooming?

I’m glad Heather tested negative for Covid though she should get a retest in a week or so.. false negatives are not Uncommon.

  5. It sounds like your week was busy, what a worry with my namesake, thank goodness it wasn’t Covid.

I wish it was warm enough here in Scotland to have a pool in the garden, I doubt it’ll happen any time soon, maybe a hot tub would be better.

    Have a good week!

  8. So glad your enjoying some time with the grandchildren. I hope your DIL is recovering well. I love Rachel Amphlett's book. Her twists are amazing. I've been following her right from her fist book.

  9. I hope you remain well and safe. The figures from America and the rhetoric both don't sound reassuring. Troubling times.
