Review: This book is full of very good advice supported by Biblical references. It was well organized and upbeat although there is some repetition. Ms. Meyer defines confidence as "all about being positive about what you can do-and not worrying over what you can't do." This made me think of the Serenity Prayer
- God, grant me the serenity
- To accept the things I cannot change;
- The courage to change the things that I can;
- And the wisdom to know the difference.
The second part of the book addresses Living Boldly and Without Fear. This gives sound advice to help face and cope with fear, guilt, disappointments, adversity and related issues. I like the encouragement to be bold even while we recognize we are humble in the gifts God has given us.
I found this to be an easy read and think it would be particularly helpful to those who need encouragement to be confident, some practical solutions or if you just want a bit of uplifting support. I think it is good to remember that God did not give us a spirit of fear.

Having suffered sexual abuse as a child and the pain of an emotionally abusive first marriage, Joyce discovered the freedom to live victoriously by applying God's Word to her life and in turn desires to help others do the same. From her battle with breast cancer to the struggles of everyday life, she speaks openly and practically about her experiences so others can apply what she has learned to their lives.

Great review! I am not entering.
ReplyDeleteI will comment on Fear. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I have to say fear and I became close friends. But eventually I made it through. I did have to have a mastectomy, so I must say that my self confidence was lowered quite a bit after this. I did find, though, that I became a stronger and very different person after this ordeal. This book sounds like something that would definitely be a must read for me.

I fear that I will never live up to my mother's standards. I admire her so much that and want to make her proud. It's made me question things that I do in my life.
