J. Kaye's Book Blog

I only finished a couple of books last week but I had all long books and I'm nearly done another.

[Note re codes:  YGR is You Gotta Read Reviews; CR is CataRomance Reviews, BTL is Between the Line/WRDF - these are the three sites where I read and review.  There are links under Some Friends on the sidebar for each of these. MBS is this blog - Martha's BookShelf!]

Finished:

PB: It Happened one Night by Lisa Dale. Can long time friends recognize that they may be meant for one another amid the complication that she is pregnant by another man? I didn't get that done last week so review will get posted later this week.

Kindle2:  Angel and the Lawman by Barbara W. Starmer.   A very good, very action filled Historical Western. Review to be posted at CR this week!

Audible: ---------

Audio CD:  What the Dog Saw by Malcom Gladwell.  This covered numerous interesting articles! It was great to listen to on my long ride this past weekend. I suddenly hit the end and had a sense of disappointment that it was over!!  Audio from Hachette. I'll send the review to YGR this week.  Giveaway in progress.

**************************

 Currently reading:

PB:  Getting Lucky by Carolyn Brown. Neighboring ranchers butt heads!  J.Kaye and I started a Twitter read along on this last week. I am near the end (2 and a half chapters.) It started with a hero we weren't sure we would like but it picked up to be more fun in the middle! Reviewing for CR.

Then I'll get back to:
Don't Look Down by David Laing Dawson. A thriller about four murderers, 18 to 81, in a forensic psychiatric ward. Reading and reviewing for author through Bostwick. Only just started into this.

Kindle2:  Call Me Kate, Meeting the Molly Maguires by Molly Roe - Historical fiction about a 14 year old who infilitrates a secret Irish organization.  Reviewing on my blog, MBS, for Tribute Books.

and Released by Kimber Chin. A short suspense. Reviewing for YGR.

Audible: (March to the Sea by David Weber and John Ringo, my own TBR - on hold again - no reading on this till I get reviews caught up.)

Audio CD:   Hmmm - Need an Audio!  I don't have any review ones now.  Fortunately my brother-in-law left me the latest Holly Barker story from Stuart Woods, Hothouse Orchid, so looks like that will be the new listen!

I won $50.00 Amazon GC from Desert Breeze!!

Whoo Hoo! THANK YOU Desert Breeze Publishing!!

This week I participated in a scavenger hunt hosted by Desert Breeze Publishing and its authors!  I had fun visiting the sites of some authors I knew and others who were new to me! I got to chat a little bit on Friday and Saturday from my computer while out of town.  This afternoon editor Gail Delaney announced that I won the Grand Prize of the $50.00 Amazon Gift Certificate!

Oh! I also won a $5.00 credit at Desert Breeze Publishing as a follower - so I get to go get a book when I can decide which one I want!!
You all know that I have promoted DBP before through Gift certificates and on other posts.  The site was developed to offer nonerotic romance and I think they have some wonderful books.  They have a blog and a yahoo group as well as the main store site.  I encourage you to check out their books and authors!

Sunday Words of Encouragement - December 20, 2009 "Breath of Heaven"

Our Pastor said that this Sunday of Advent signifies FAITH!  I will miss his sermon this morning as I have been out of town.

In searching for songs over the past weeks I found this one thatvI had never heard.  It is hauntingly beautiful. Mary's song - Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant, this version with footage from The Nativity.  I hope it will touch you.

Verses for Today:
Luke 1:34-38

"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"
The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God."
"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.

I pray the you will seek Faith this week and focus on the Reason for the Season: God's Gift to each of us - a child born to bring us salvation.
