Giveaway Packages for Easter

I am sorry I never got the March Gift post up. I had one Celtic book and some St. Patrick day magnets to giveaway but I misplaced which computer the picture was on!  I was going to add another Irish related book.  Then I gave the magnets to a local group for last Saturday's St. Paddy event since I knew I could not get them mailed out in time for March 17.
Ah well - to make up for it I'll have four prizes for Easter. Three packages for US/Canada and one for International entries.

Now it is time to get the Easter Gift Post up before that gets here as fast as time is going by for me!

I have three little Easter packages for the US/Canadian entries:

Here they are in separate picutres:
#1 QUACK the DUCKY
(who quacks when you push the patch on his chest!)
with a candle, a dish towel and treats

#2 MISSY BUNNY (a cute old fashion look!)
with a ceramic bunny house decoration that opens,
Easter window decals/stickers and treats

and #3 CARROT BUNNY (so soft and plump)
with a bunny bell, a dish cloth and treats

To enter you must comment telling me if you have any special Easter tradition.  Or if you do not celebrate Easter but some other celebration at this time of year tell me what tradition you have for that.

US/Canada entries may enter by telling me whether you want #1, #2 or #3.  You may enter for all three but you will only be allowed to win one package.

International visitors are entering for a chance to win a gift certificate of your bookstore choice for $8.00.

Okay- I hope those rules are all clear.
The giveaway will run until 10pm Central March 28.  Hopefully that will allow the packages to arrive near Easter!!

Hurry to enter A Great Follow Giveaway at Storywings!

I thought I had posted about this one last month but I don't see it. Hurry because this great giveaway - lots of wonderful books with multiple winners - ends March 19!

Martha's March Movie Madness - Contest!

My family and I have this habit of picking up lines from movies.  So today is Martha's March Movie Madness!  Your goal, *should you chose to accept it *, is to identify the ten (10) movies the quotes came from.  So we do not give away the answers PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER HERE but e-mail me your answers at mesreads@gmail.com.

I will do a drawing from all entries that get ALL of them correct and I will do a second drawing from all OTHER entries.  So even if you miss a few you will still have a chance.
The winner with ALL correct answers will get to choose a book or $5.00 gift card from the Friday Pick books AND a credit of $5.00 for a book from eTreasures Publishing.
The winner from the other entries will get to choose a book or $5.00 gift card from the Friday Pick books.

1.  "They never call, they never write."

2.  "We'll do that!"

3.  "100% pure old fashioned homegrown."

4.  "Don't worry. I've done this before...once."

5.  "We're sending someone in to negotiate."

6.  "I'd die for you."

7.  "She's in good hands."

8.  "The secret's in the sauce."

9.  " What am I supposed to do? Walk around with their little corpses stuck to my finger nails?"

10.  "And Winter slumbering in the open air,
Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring!"  ***  I liked this so much I looked up the full poem:

"All Nature seems at work. Slugs leave their lair- The bees are stirring - birds are on the wing - And Winter slumbering in the open air, Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring!"And I the while, the sole unbusy thing, Nor honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing."
Samuel Taylor Coleridge,
Work Without Hope

*Bonus - what movie is *that phrase* (in the third line of this post) from?

Please comment here to let me know you sent an entry and for extra fun when you comment tell me one of YOUR favorite movie quotes and I'll try to guess the movie!
I will pick winners Thursday night at 10 pm central and announce them on Friday.

There is no way to keep people from searching quotes online. AND I know that if it were me I would be trying to search the answers!! I am thinking - hoping - one of these might really get you stumped! *BG*
I'll check answers and if everyone gets stumped by the same question I may add hints if it looks like its needed and I may extend the deadline.  That means I will allow updated answers so check back Wednesday and Thursday to see if I have added hints.

I have used a similar but shorter list for fun at the (SaSR) Sweet and Sensual Romance Tuesday R&R. They have to name the character and movie or show for five quotes.

What are you Reading Monday? March 15, 2010

I feel badly that I didn't get to reply to any comments last week nor get to visit many other blogs.  I hope my commenting friends accept my apologies and understand my being a bit swamped with three businesses now plus two blogs!  I hope I will do better this week.

This meme starts at One Person's Journey Through A World of Books!

I had some erratas to do and a bit of editing so I didn't get to do as many reviews as I wanted. Another four reviews written only keeps me even and not getting ahead.

[Note re codes: MBS is this blog - Martha's BookShelf!]

Finished:
PB: Once Upon a Nightmare by Lee Moylan.  This is a dark horror.  Good writing but not my favorite type of read.
Reading from my won TBR books! Review to be posted here at MBS.
On the night of October thirteenth, the Hunter's Moon descended upon the quiet town of White Chapel. As Sara Bishop drifted off to sleep under its soft illumination, the full moon seemed to have brought with it something far more sinister than a warm glow. At once, the nightmare started. But this wasn't any ordinary nightmare… This one seemed real ─ as if she could smell it, feel it, taste it....
....Will Sara Bishop have to experience death itself to stop this killer? Or will her nightmare never end?
Kindle2:
Sarah's Story by Delilah K. Stephans, Time Displacement Corps Book 1.
This was from my own TBR. I really enjoyed this and would like to read the next in the series.   This came from the author and review will be posted here at MBS.
Sarah Beauchamp has made a life for herself in the past having given up on returning to the present. She only has one question – What had happened?
Captain Matthew Barrington is determined to find the longest missing agent – Sarah. She was lost when the Time Displacement Unit exploded.
The Time Displacement Corps greatest fear is causing a Paradox. But when an agent has been missing for ten years, can they avoid it?

Kindle2:

The Little Known by Janice Daugharty. This wasn't my normal type of read either. A well written coming of age story of a poor black boy.

A good-hearted boy.
A segregated town.

A stolen fortune.
a coming-of-age story full of hope and forgiveness

Book supplied for review from Bell Bridge Books; review to be posted here at MBS.

Audio CD:

Audio CD:  Absolute Power by David Baldacci.  This was Baldacci's first book back in 1996 - Political thriller.  Reviewing for Hachette - to be posted here at MBS.
I finally finished and then Saturday night watched the movie.  The movie was okay but the book was definitely MUCH better!

**************************
Currently reading:

PB:  An Earl to Enchant by Amelia Grey.  I am very glad to get back to a nice historical.  The heroine is a fun character and this is reading very quickly already at 60%.
He’s determined not to be a hero…
Lord Morgandale is as notorious as he is dashing, and he’s determined no woman will tie him down. But from the moment Arianna Sweet appears on his doorstep, he cannot resist the lure of her fascinating personality, exotic wardrobe, and tempting green eyes…
She has a deadly secret…
Arianna Sweet never imagined the significance of her father’s research until after his untimely death. Now she is in possession of his groundbreaking discovery, one that someone would kill for. She can’t tell Lord Morgandale her secret, but she knows she needs his help, desperately…

Kindle2:  Black Velvet by Delilah Stephans and Antonio Tiranth.  This looks like a sexy paranormal read.  This is from my own TBR.
Always in battle, always alone... A prophecy that cannot be denied.
Determined to avoid a forced marriage, Amara hops a plane to find and recruit Jett, the only man her fellow shifters believe can save them.
Jett cares little for Amara's cause, and an ancient prophecy has told him he must always fight alone. But when the plucky lass shows up in his life and refuses to leave, the last thing he expects is the turbulent emotions her presences brings.
When she's not busy hating him, Amara kind of likes Jett, and Jett can't deny that he's falling for her. But when love ignites between them, can they deny their destiny?

Audio CD and Hachette Giveaway to be posted:  Marriage and Other Acts of Charity by Kate Braestrup.  Some of the language is a bit esoteric but I am enjoying this.

I'm not listing any other upcoming books for this week - AGAIN.  This week I am planning to make time to write reviews!
