I am linking with Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading? now at The Book Date (at Wordpress)
What Are You Reading? is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
This past week was better than the week before - on our home front anyway. God has wonderful timing and our closing schedule calmed down while we sorted out and got caught up. Heather got clearance to come back to work but she is not supposed to be using her left arm. I noticed it was swollen on Friday afternoon and figured she was moving it more than she should.
I spoke for a realtor lunch on Friday and felt that went well (especially since we had a business referral Friday afternoon). This is a picture of the new flooring we had installed a month or so ago. It replaces an old teal carpet that was pet stained. We really like the wood look.We continue to have rain every afternoon but I think it is cooling ... a little.
Meanwhile, our prayers are with Louisiana as hurricane Ida goes through and we are collecting supplies to be taken over on Monday night. .
I visited 17 blogs last week.
Shout Out this week to GETTING YOUR READ ON. Aimee likes to review clean books in genres from fiction to non-fiction, YA, MG and even picture books.

Publisher's Summary
When Penny solves the riddle of an unbreakable knot in time, she unwittingly releases two time travelers from the distant past into Piper Falls. The town is plagued by a series of baffling events related to the appearance of a strange elf-like creature. Penny's science teacher and mentor, Mr. Myrdin, recognizes him as the Coch Coblyn, an evil spirit from Celtic myth with a penchant for igniting city-destroying fires.
Compounding the mystery is the discovery of a prehistoric scepter, made of impossibly pure silver that's intertwined with Seneca creation myth and Master Poe's past. The silver scepter draws the sole survivor from the ancient civilization that created it to Piper Falls. After traveling forward thousands of years in time, he plans to take the scepter back to his own time and save his people from the cataclysm that destroyed them.
Stumped by the escalating pranks of the Coch Coblyn, the Deputy Sheriff contacts his good friend, Darin Kolchak, a paranormal investigator. Kolchak answers the call by bringing the latest in ghost-hunting technology to town in his refurbished U-Haul. Kolchak's methods may not be conventional, but they lead him dangerously close to the truth. Penny and her friends race to unravel the secrets of the artifact, dodge detection, and prevent either of the new arrivals from using it to return to power.

August 29, 2021 - I remain on track. I love seeing new things each time I read the Bible. I am glad to still be current with morning reading. I am reading/listening to the NLT Tyndale version of the Bible on You Version App so Hubby and I are reading the same passages each day.
I really liked this 5-day study shared with other ladies from our church: The Armor of God.
I may join in another study this week.
I completed three books to review this week.
NetGalley shelf is still at 3 old titles.
Now five author titles are in queue. I'll be working on these
(Plus a few that I received from facebook links and newsletter sign-ups, not specific review requests.)
Still many titles through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.
Welcome to Mailbox Monday.
Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday. Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit, me and new to the team, Velvet at vvb32reads. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
Two new audio review books this week.
I picked up Two for One Credit titles at Audiobooks.com.
I picked up four Audible titles on 'flash' sale. I missed the first two days and limited myself to four on the last two days.
I also selected three audios from Audible Plus Catalog.
Three Kindle titles this week.
(Note these are in my Amazon library, NOT on my Kindle until I download and transfer them.)
Are your mailbox and TBR piles blooming?

We have a similar flooring in our house, it brings a lot of warmth to it. It's certainly lovely in your room!
ReplyDeleteI need to continue with the Martha Wells series, I had really enjoyed what I read of Murderbot. Have a great week and happy reading!
That floor looks fantastic. Carpet is nice but it sure has drawbacks. Happy reading for coming week. Hope Heather's arm is okay.
ReplyDeletePoor Heather :(
ReplyDeleteI’d love wooden floors, they look lovely.
Wishing you a great reading week
The scenes from Louisiana really aren't good, I feel so badly for everyone caught in Ida's path. But I do love the new flooring, I'm a big fan of wood flooring everywhere. 'Hematite' looks lovely! My "reads" this week are also from the Audible sale. I hope you have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and I'm glad you gave yourself the rest and break you needed! Ghost Forest does look amazing and I'm adding that to my list ASAP! I've also heard good things about The Push so I hope you enjoy it. I think Elatsoe looks like it will absolutely ensnare me though, so I'm going to have to hunt that one down. I hope you have a great week :)
Juli @ A Universe in Words
I love the new flooring. Is it LVP? We put that down in our kitchen/family room several years ago - wasn't sure at the time but now am so glad we went with it. Still looks great.
ReplyDeleteThe Balogh is on my TBR list. I'm about due to escape into a good historical. Have a good week, Martha!
Great photos! I also love wood floors.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week and your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Nice looking flooring. Do you find your house noisier after installing it? I did when I switched from carpet to wood and ended up putting down an assortment of throw rugs. Nice looking assortment of new books too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else that the new floor looks good and so much easier to keep clean if you have pets.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a Dean Koontz book for years, but I do like the sound of The Bone Farm.
I also have my eye on the Mary Balogh book, so I hope you enjoy that one.
Autumn is definitely on its way, here in the UK, just in time for the mass return to school this week. Our daily new Covid cases are already through the roof, so everyone will be watching the next couple of weeks with bated breath.
I hope that referrals keep coming in for you and that the business continues to flourish.
Take Care and Happy Reading! :)
Your new floor looks great. Love wood instead of carpet.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week....lots of books to choose from.
Happy reading
ReplyDeleteThe flooring looks great! Glad your week calmed down some. Happy reading this week, I like Mary Balogh's romances. I'm trying to get through my NetGalley books also, I have several left to read.
ReplyDeleteLove the new flooring. It looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteWe have had some rain as well. I finally made it out to the garden, though.
Great books this week. The Keepers and The Proposal need to go on my wish list. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog last week.
