This was another pushed week but it ended on a good note. Our son and d-i-l are visiting while he moves bases. I've already read five books to our granddaughter, the SweetPea!
Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
Five of us would offer prayer and thoughts to help an online expressed trouble. Most of us would try to offer other help if we could, mostly monetary. I agree with and appreciate Miki's comment that sometimes even a card or small gift, soup if nearby, are a nice way to share instead of just monetary donations.

The Winner from SBB #240 comments is: #15 Rubynreba who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated ARC/Review titles or (not yet updated) Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. I'm hoping to update the book choices - maybe the beginning of next year, lol. Please let me know your choice by completing the WINNER FORM.
WEEK #241
(One Question.)
Nikki asks: 1) You know those mini review quotes on book covers/first few pages by other authors and reviewers etc, do those reviews sway your judgement when it comes to purchasing a book??I glance at those snippets but I don't always trust them. I am more inclined to trust reader reviews than author endorsement quotes.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.
Comments for February were submitted by Elizabeth, Miki and Nikki. Random.org chose #3 so Nikki gets a GC.
Your turn to share:

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the February 2015 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. One of these days I will get together a new box of Christmas titles.)
SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday March 5, 2015 at 5 PM central.
No they don't, but I still read them especially if I recognize the author.
ReplyDeletei do read them from time to time but it doesn't make me buy a book or not as i will only trust them if they are by a reviewers that i know or a author i follow
ReplyDeleteNo, I may read them, but they do not influence.
ReplyDeleteno, ignore them
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Rubynreba!
ReplyDeleteI don't trust those reviews because they are always positive. In general, I rarely read reviews prior to starting a book, but if I do - I look for some less praising ones. I trust them more.
Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteThey do not sway my judgement on reading a book.
I prefer a full review to those little blurbs---and one from a neutral source.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner. I always read them but I too am more inclined to go with reader reviews.

No, I do not trust those at all. I especially hate it when a book gets compared to a popular book and they even get the author of the popular book to write some glowing mini review of the book. Then I read reviews about the book only to see that the two books aren't even similar.
ReplyDeleteNo, they don't make any difference to me
ReplyDeleteCongrats Rubynreba!
ReplyDeleteNo, they don't. I might read them, but they don't influence me in any way.
I don't even read mini-reviews.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner.
I like reading these mini reviews. They, however, do not sway my judgement at all.
ReplyDeleteNo, they don't.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes read them, but I tend not to make a decision based on them.
ReplyDeleteI read them IF they are by one of my favourite authors but they don't sway me so much.
ReplyDeleteI do read them, however, that doesn't change my mind if I want to buy it.
ReplyDeleteI like reading them but they don't make me buy the book. Real reviews do, the ones that took people actual time to write.
