Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
All commenters read more fiction than nonfiction. Several mentioned reading for escape, pleasure or entertainment. Those who do read non-fiction mostly read biographies or autobiographies. Marjorie mentioned reading books by Lisa See which she says are based on fact.

WEEK #144 (One Question.)
Q1. My question this week: How do you handle your TBR pile??
A: I don't think my TBR pile is this bad although if you include ebooks it would be. :-)
Image found at The Good, The Bad and The Unread.
A continued: I try to read at least two to four books a month, ebooks, print and audio, from my TBR but on the scale below mine would be "All is lost". I definitely have more books than I could read in a lifetime.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We still have a supply of questions but from the same people so hopefully others will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.
Questions in March were submitted by Di, MaryP, Nikki and Elizabeth (I don't count for the submission wins). Random Pick is #1 - DI.
Your turn to share:
Q1. My question: How do you handle your TBR pile??
SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books, the Christmas Giveaway Books (this is the new link), or the June 2013 Newly Updated ARC/Review List.
SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on either of the two questions above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday April 5, 2014 at 5 PM central.
I try to read as many books from my TBR pile that I can, but sometimes I don't get any read from that pile.
ReplyDeleteI very seldom have a pile of TBR books. Access to books is limited so I do read everything I get hold of. With an Ipad now I download as much as I could so I always have something on hand. I just discovered a classics literary fiction download for free so its like Aladdin's Cave for me right now!!!! Have already downloaded five of those classics. Its almost like back to high school.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I will be finishing my TBR list any time soon, maybe never too. I like to go through it now and then and kind of clean it up a bit. There are some books that I realize I no longer want to read and can't quite remember why I was even interested in it.
ReplyDeleteOne book at a time!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Sarah and Di!
ReplyDeleteTBR pile. Hmm...It's a long one. I try to mix it up, one romance, then one crime, then dystopian etc. With books for review thrown into the mix.
Thanks for the Paypal winnings Martha! Much appreciated!
my TBR pile is on my Nook and I try to not get more books until I'm caught up with what I have to read. Usually doesn't work though
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I do really handle my TBR list. I just read as I please. I read whatever I fancy at the time. I will never catch up & that's kind of OK because it tells me that there is a world of books just waiting for me.
ReplyDeleteVery badly I have to say. I started buying newer reads instead of tackling my TRP. But I definitely have to start reading these books before I read others that catch my eye. It will also save me some money to read the books I already have on hand. :) Congrats to the winner.

I have all my books on shelves in the order I plan to read them.
ReplyDeletehum i guess my pile would be "reality check" i mean i do have a huge pile but it takes me longer to get more book than to read so at the moment i'm managing. i do try to read at least 4 books a month but this month for example i'm above that ( thank sto a read a thon and a great challenge by kim at caffeniated blog reviewer) i've read..; i don't know 7 or 8 but it's also tryue that for once this monthly haul was pure delight too so the pile TBR didn't decrease but it's nothing ^^
ReplyDeleteI have 60 paper books right now in my TBR collection. I try to read at least one book a week, doesn't always happen. I have about 260 books in my ereaders, how will I ever get though it. There are so many freebies offered everyday.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners.
I have a lengthy list books to be read, which I try to keep track of on Goodreads. And my print copies are on my bookshelf. :)
ReplyDeleteThe picture is hilarious. It reminds me of my TBR pile. There are just so many great books, I can't read fast enough.
ReplyDeleteMy previous comment just disappeared so I'll try again. I just retired and have been accumulating books for a couple years to enjoy now that I should have time. My husband is painting up some bookcases and I will sort by type (cozy vs. romance) then alphabetically by author.

Congrats Sarah!
ReplyDeleteone book at a time
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! So many great choices of books!
ReplyDeleteMy TBR pile has lots of books in it - I keep track of a lot of what I have on index cards by author, and about once a year try to go thru & separate by author or alphabetically. I have a lot in boxes from BJ's or Costco that had packs of berries & then they stack or slide under furniture.
My TBR pile is way too big! I just pick what I want to read based on my mood and don't really worry about the pile.
ReplyDeleteI tend to read what's newest 1st but I do try to keep a record of what I've read.
ReplyDeleteI do not have a very big TBR pile. I try not to get too many books because I want to be able to read all I have.

My TBR pile is massive since I discovered e books on Amazon, Kindle, book blogs, new authors and new genres two years ago. I have a huge backlog of paperbacks from prior years which I just don't think about reading at this point. I concentrate on reading books accumulated in the last two years which is still a huge amount of books.
ReplyDeleteMine is very big. I usually just try to read whichever book I want off of it and make a little pile of the ones I want to read most.
