Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
We all agreed that we love the zoo and seeing all the wonderful animals! The animal that got the biggest vote was the tiger/big cats with 5 favorites. Next came elephants with 4 votes. Then penguins, panda bears and monkeys each had 3 votes. The others were a variety of different animals - and yes, dolphins count. I'm used to seeing dolphins in Florida zoos and waterparks and there is a fun penguin display at Seaworld but I don't recall seeing too many polar bears. Then again - haven't been for a number of years. Sarah shared a link to view her office with some wonderful elephants, including a beautiful cross-stitch elephant on one wall.

Q1. LisaC asks: Do blurbs from authors you like influence you to try a new author??
A: I might read the author blurbs but it would only be one consideration.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We still have a supply of questions but from the same people so hopefully others will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.
Your turn to share:

1. No.
ReplyDeleteI doubt they will influence me because I generally tend to go with authors I already like so the choice is already made.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on my cross-stitch!
ReplyDeleteI don't care about author blurbs. I tend to look more at reviews from bloggers than blurbs from authors.
it can but mostly they just give me the want to discover more about teh authors, check the reviews etc it won't jump to buy the book just because of the blurb
ReplyDeleteI may look up a referenced book but it's not a big influence on who I choose to read
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteNo they don't.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it will encourage me to read the book. :)
ReplyDeleteThe can - it depends on what they say.
ReplyDeleteKind of I guess. I try new books all the time with new authors. If the book sounds good then I'm willing to try it. =)
ReplyDeleteI may be influenced, but only to some small degree. I would need to explore further.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Nikki!
ReplyDeleteBlurbs always influence me. If I see a book I always go to the blurb. It gives you an idea of what you will get. The only time I don't check it is when it's a favorite author.
I wouldn't say it would influence me to try a new author, but it might make me look at other things about the author to consider if I want to give them a try.
ReplyDeleteA blurb plays a small influence on my choices but I do read them. Congrats to the winner.

No, they do not influence me.
ReplyDeletepbclark(at)netins(dot)net
No, though I always read them, but no. The blurb of the book has to intrigue me, if not, I won't read it.
ReplyDeleteI do read the comments, however, I mostly check reviews on amazon.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Nikki.
Sometimes they do a little bit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
What I like about author blurbs is reading their comments on the book - I enjoy hearing their thoughts/perspectives and their unique style/wordsmithing. So whether that influences me to read the book or not, I suppose it could, but moreso it influences me to read their own books! =)
