Here are some more pictures during our December visit with our son and daughter-in-law in Hawaii.
I loved the many birds on their back porch and the birds loved the sprinklers!
These were shot through the glass and screen doors so they are not quite as clear as I would like.
Every time I tried to get closer they would fly away of course.

A black cardinal surprised me our first morning.
Here the birds begin to gather in the shower.
Isn't this guy handsome?
On this evening I caught a whole group of sprinkler bathers!
This yellow-eyed guy looks like he is eying me!
Humph! He turned tail and stalked away. :-)
Thanks again to all the nice people who have commented on my Saturday pictures. I am so sorry I have only been able to return the visits at the end of the week. :-(

What an interesting collection of birds, great how they liked the sprinklers. I like that red headed fellow, he's very handsome. The yellow eyed one is an introduced pest in Australia, I really dislike them, not sure if they're native to Hawaii or not, but they can be a terrible introduced pest.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! That red-headed one ("isn't this guy handsome") is definitely very handsome! And the yellow eyes on that last one are quite something. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteThey are having a fine time! Thanks for sharing the gorgeous shots....and here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
ReplyDeleteThat little guy with the red head is stunning.
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet that was fun! I wish I knew someone to visit in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteI am always so intrigued by the different species and sub-species of birds that I see in the posts from different parts of the world! These are all so different from our New England birds ... except for that little rosy-breasted finch! We have those birds here in New Hampshire!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a black cardinal. You definitely captured some interesting birds. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds. So nice to see them up close, in all their glory.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Saturday Snapshot.
That is fun to see the birds drawn to the water!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos....I like the green grass so much better than our ten inches of snow. :)
ReplyDeleteTHANKS for sharing.

My Saturday Snapshot
Great photos, loved your captions.
ReplyDeleteYou've a great variety of birds there - is the one with the red head a cardinal? I've been looking at geese or ducks (don't know which!) for my Snapshot at blog http://goo.gl/9qx5t
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures -- I love seeing photos of birds that are new to me! Here's my Saturday Snapshot post.
ReplyDeleteI saw a couple of those varieties of birds when I was there and they were fun to photograph. You captured a couple that I missed though. And that cardinal is very handsome!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I love bird watching so I enjoyed looking at these pictures of birds that you had captures. I never knew that a black cardinal existed. I liked the picture of the red head bird too. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I love watching my cat see birds through the window :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I could sit and watch them play in the water for hours. At least they are using the sprinkler... when I was on vacation in Cancun the birds were in the pool!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely bird pictures and they sure look like they are having fun.
