During our December visit with our son and daughter-in-law in Hawaii we visited The Dole Plantation. We really enjoyed the garden, the train and the yummy ice cream. Unfortunately our d-i-l had to stay home with the newborn.
There is a nice gift shop entrance but we didn't stay inside long.
Several exhibits - Which way to go?
There are lovely orchids and other flowers in the guided tour garden area.
We have a ticket to ride -- the train goes all the way around the plantation.
There are fields and fields of pineapples and other tree and crop groves too.
From the far end of the circular track there are sculpted pineapple hedges and look at the mountain in the background!
Back at the park we found hungry koi fish in a pond.
There were chickens at the airport. Here is a mother and chicks at the edge of the Plantation parking lot.
Here are the chicks close up - so cute.

Thanks to all the nice people who have commented on my Saturday pictures. I am so sorry I have not had much chance to return the visits. I am a week behind again. :-(
To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
I particularly love the photo with the mountain/volcano in the background. Such beautiful majesty :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous, and chickens at the airport is a little bizarre. I bet you enjoyed the newborn too. Here's Mine

Hawaii always looks so exotic with all those palms and orhids, and the volcano. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/ZoRZX
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderfully warm and green photos! March in Canada is everything but, so it's especially lovely to gaze upon all that foliage.
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks like a very relaxing day! Such fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful state...thanks for sharing. You got to see your new grandbaby too. :)

ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to see your photos of the pineapple plantation, especially since we missed that when we visited. We had to choose and decided to spend the day visiting beaches instead.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures!
ReplyDeleteI hope to see that with my own eyes one of these days!
ReplyDeleteAww, chicks! Adorable!
