Sharing Beyond Books #24 Comment Giveaway November 26, 2011

Here we are again! It's Saturday night (late) -  Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books!
Thanks for your comments this past week.

There were some beautiful book covers selected. I added Louisa's first mentioned cover, Wither. Helen chose covers with hot guys so I picked The Goblin King for her choice and here are all the mentioned covers. The slideshow may take a moment to load. I do love the wolf cover that miki  shared!

The favorite scents are all wonderful. I had to chuckle at Louisa's fav being new books. Heavensent pointed out that Bayberry is so hard to find - it is my DH's fav and we can no longer find it either. But what is with the skunk scent - Are you a bit crazy?? LOL

The Winner from SBB #23 comments is: #6 LuAnn. There are still 9 'love' books to pick from, 5 Christmas choices and 2 Summer titles below so LuAnn please choose a book from the remaining Love Books List for Giveaway or remaining Christmas Giveaway Books, the one summer book below OR pick from the ARC box and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #24 Questions

Q1. Abby asks: Which is your favourite mythological period? ie Greek, Roman, etc.??
A:  I first tried to remember the mythologies I read as a young person. Then my mind went to Sparta because I like the Gods of Midnight series by Deirdre Knight. But I also thought of Celtic mythology, King Arthur and Atlantis - if those are considered Mythology. Then I resorted to Google search and was surprised to recall there are Native American Mythologies too.  I don't know that I have a favorite as I often don't like the manipulative Gods of Greek and Roman mythologies. But of the many groups I think I am most familiar with Greek mythology.
The imposing columns of the Temple of Zeus, Athens, Greece.

Q2. I'll return to some holiday questions next week. This week I have a question about giveaway hops. Do you like them and if you enter how many of 300+ do you enter??
A:  I love the giveaway hop, especially from the hosting side because I love giving - as many of you have figured out. :-)  Some of the hops I have not entered at all. The current Gratitude hop I entered about 60 which is not quite 20%.  I just couldn't find time for more than that.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question FormAt the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)

Thank you for adding questions. November Q submissions were from: mamabunny13, winnie, Mary P and Abby.
The monthly pick this time goes to #3 Mary P.

Your turn to share:

1. Which is your favourite mythological period? ie Greek, Roman, etc.??

2.  Do you like giveaway hops and if you enter how many of 300+ do you enter??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the remaining  Valentine and "Love" books or the remaining Christmas Giveaway Books - there are still about 14 books available plus 2 left in the Summer titles to choose from. Also I have added the Review and ARC Box now.

My copy is a paperback from 2006
with a different cover.

  1. 1. Definitely Celtic mythology! I've always had a thing for this culture and love traveling to the UK and Ireland to actually glance back into the past on my trips.

    2. Oh, I love giveaway hops and will participate in at least one each month on my blog! As far as entering so many I must admit that these days I mostly enter at blogs I already follow, because entering on all blogs (for once it's a good thing half are US only, otherwise it'd take weeks *lol*) takes just too much time. In the current Gratitude Giveaways I might have entered 30 or so giveaways which I know isn't much, but like I said, who has got the time?

  2. 1. Which is your favourite mythological period? ie Greek, Roman, etc.?? I don't have a particular favorite. I enjoy learning & reading about Greek & Roman mythology.

    2. Do you like giveaway hops and if you enter how many of 300+ do you enter?? I don't often have the time for giveaway hops. Being International I have less to enter of the 300+ entries, that helps.

  3. I enjoy giveaway hops, I usually look at each giveaway but I probably enter between 75-100 out of 300.

  4. Because I'm most familiar with the Greek mythology I'll go with that one.I've never heard about the Native American Indian mythology. Interesting.
I used to enter a lot more Hops then I do now because a lot of them have the mandatory Facebook liking. I don't have FB so that eliminates me :) But the Giveaway Hop I entered about 75. Even though it was a very easy entry I couldn't seem to squeeze in the time.

  5. I suppose Greek myths would be my choice.

I love blog hops but I already follow so many blogs that don't enter the ones that say I have to follow to enter. That means I only get to enter a small portion of them, about 25%. But that's okay. I usually find a new blog or two that I really like and start to follow them.

  6. 1. I don't enjoy books from mythological times so I skip those
    2. I love the blog hops - I've discovered some of my fave blogs on them. I only enter the ones I really want though because of time

  7. My favorite mythological creature would be the siren. I actually try to enter all of the blogs on a giveaway hop-but some are just impossible to open (takes way too long) edysicecreamlover18@gmailDOTcom

  8. 1. I'm a fan of King Arthur and other Celtic myths. But I also love Greek and Roman ones too. I think it's too hard to narrow down.

    2. I love giveaway hops. I participate in quite a few (including the Gratitude Giveaway Hop) but I enter few. Mostly just the blogs I already follow.

  9. I enjoy hops, but I only visit the sites I'm already a member of. I get very frustrated when the blogger requires you be a follower because, honestly, I already follow way more sites than I can keep up with. Also, there are a number of sites I really don't care to follow.

  10. 1. One of my favourite mythologies to read is Celtic mythology but I also enjoy others like Roman and Greek because authors can be so creative in using these mythologies as background to their stories.

    2. About giveaway hops, I'm sort of in the middle about them because on the one hand, they give lots of great giveaway opportunities and it's great to discover some new blogs; but on the other hand, it takes a lot of time to go through them all and usually chances to win are fairly slim because so many people (like a couple hundred or sometimes more) enter for them. As for how many I'll enter, it really depends on if I have the time. Before, I have gone through the list of 300+ blogs for some giveaway hops and entered all giveaways that I'm eligible for, but now I'm more likely to just enter the ones that are on my blog feed or subscriptions list and not really bother with the others unless I do have the time.

  11. i'm happy you loved the cover i proposed ^^;;

So for the mythical.. i would say egyptian, i love the greek one but since i studied latin i know it a lot. Egyptian is different and i love his complexity ( papyrus comic hellped i guess)Second i would put norse mythology, it's not my first choice because it's more dramatic and pessimist

As for blog hop....for me it's a great opportunity to discover new book and author and to win some is fabulous because in my country they are really expensive and the choice very limited so i enter the more i can....unfortunately not a lot are open to international ( and sometimes when it is it's only ebook and i love print book). Also i don't have ( can't and won't have) facebook or twitter so some are forbidden to me and now that a lot cancel GFC i'm afraid there will be even less i can enter- i hope they will adjust to accept follower by email or rss or google+ insted of networked blog or twitter...i wil have to hope and see. i just started entered 2 month ago so i'm quite new to this ^^

  12. I've always been fascinated by Egyptian mythology and its legends. The blog hops seem like fun, but there are so many stops that I usually end up visiting about twenty sites before quitting.

  13. 1. I really like any myths, especially ones I am not so familiar with. I read Guardian of the Dead earlier this year at it dealt with some Australian myths that I knew nothing about but found fascinating.
    2. As a reader, I love blog hops and I try to enter for any prize that might interest me and I have discovered some great books this way. As a blogger, I just love sharing a good book with readers.

  14. I thought my sanity...or, er, lack thereof, was a given...heh heh~!!

    1. I love anything to do with Atlantis...okay, well, not if the author insist its in Crete...that irritates me and I love reading about Sumerians also~!!

    2. Every once in a while perhaps...I USED to but I found it to be totally one sided...I was putting out the effort for VERY little in return...I find folks love to sign up for Hops and very seldom participate with the "rules". More often these days its giveaway or book hops that I find appealing~!!

May your week be a groovy one~!! xoxo

  15. 1. Greek/Roman myths are about the only ones I know. So they're my favourite :)

    2. I like giveaway hops :) They're lots of fun :) And I entered about all that I could, living in Canada, and not entering adult ones. So a fair bit :) Can't wait for the results tomorrow! :)

  16. Greek and Roman are my favorites.

I enjoy entering the giveaway hops, and I try to visit most of the blogs on the list that are marked international. :)
