Sunday Words of Encouragement March 15, 2020

My husband was recovering from a cold this week and taking antibiotics. Apparently, he shared his cold with me as I developed a sore throat yesterday and suffered with a low fever last night. I slept in this morning until after 10am! We missed Sunday School and Church but shared in prayer through Facebook and YouVersion.

In January our Pastor was sharing messages in his series “The Bod”, referring to the Body of Christ. Earlier in the series pastor noted that God has gifted the body of Christ with you, and the gifts and talents inside you have to be used for the body.

The enemy says we are not gifted or are not ready, but these are lies. Jesus called fishermen, a tax collector, and other ordinary men and women. The enemy works hard to declaw us and we must rebuke his lies in favor of the calling we have received.

As people, we need to refuel each day through diet and sleep. Sometimes we seek a quick boost of increased energy. This may be through caffeine, energy bars, and sometimes healthier choices like exercise and water.

Some people need a reason to live each day. Each of us individually and together become energized when doing what we are meant to be doing. Functioning in a healthy way can change during stages of each life. But God wants you to do what He has directed for you.

The Body of Christ is meant to be a producer... a multiplier. For the body to produce, each part of the body should be serving one another. Serving one another brings joy. Galatians 5:13-22.

Mark 2 and Luke 5 tell the story of a paralyzed man on mat who was dropped through the roof by his friends. He was healed and his sins forgiven. He could not get in the crowded house by himself and certainly, the Pharisees didn't serve or help him. The men carrying him were serving. Someone in your life needs to get to Jesus now. Are you willing to overcome the obstacles to get him to Jesus?

The Point: We need to be willing to dig through the roof to get another person into the presence of Jesus.

Our friendships and relationships help see us through life. Are we serving and sharing the Love of Christ in those relationships? Whatever our role is, it should match up with how God has gifted us.

Imagine an ad: “Roof diggers wanted.” God has a bigger plan for us at all times and especially in the last days. It may be someone's last day today.

This is a song for serving: The Servant’s Song.
Verses for Today:
Galatians 5:13-15 (NIV)
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

Lord, I pray that you will use me to serve each day to those I come in contact with, in person or through extended contacts.

Some people may need extra reassurance in these days. I found this lovely song to remind us that our circumstances do not change what God has said:  What You Said
