Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
I enjoyed hearing where each of you would like to visit. Most had specific destinations with two choosing Hawaii. Mystica would like a luxury train trip from London to Istanbul. MaryP would like a six month vacation throughout Great Britain. Others would be glad for any vacation (Carol L), any beach (bn100) or any swim place with temperate climate (miki). Fredamans is happy staying home. :-) Sometimes staycations are the most restful.

The regular Winner from SBB #209 comments is: #1 Mystica who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated ARC/Review titles or (not yet updated) Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. I'm hoping to update the book choices this week. Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.
WEEK #210 (One Question.)
Miki asks: Q1 How many time/much time would you spend on entering contests??
A: We had an earlier question about how many entries we like in a contest and most of us said we like them kept simple. Excessive entries is tiresome. That being said... now we can answer Miki's questions.
My biggest contest entering year was 2009 - I was addicted. I probably entered at least one giveaway each day and I won 293 contests that year - books or gift cards. I did win my Kindle that year through a fairly lengthy scavenger hunt. At least there were several weeks to enter that event as I recall. I started Friday Pick in November 2009 so that I could share book giving with others. :-)
I have not done very much entering over the past years - just now and then and I am still pretty lucky. However, a few months ago I spent several hours entering a lot of contests (maybe 80) at Goodreads. I didn't win a single one and I felt like I wasted an afternoon. So I will continue to enter contests only sporadically and I tucker out at about 10 entries in any given contest.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.
Your turn to share:

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the February 2015 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. One of these days I will get together a new box of Christmas titles.)
SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday July 18, 2015 at 5 PM central.
I love to enter contests/giveaways and do very often. I've won books and a few gift cards and am always optimistic. The books and gift cards are very useful for me to get to books I normally would never be able to access.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Mystica. For a couple of years I too went a little crazy entering contests. For books, GC & the grandkids. Then I started winning, quite a bit. That really kept me at it. :) But finally I had to stop with the exception of book giveaways. My days were consumed that year with contests. Some of the giveaways require a crazy amount of entries.

I do like to enter competitions. I feed my love of reading by doing so. I work on the premise that you have to be in it...
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on my mood. I was entering a lot of contests the year before last but then I stopped for a while. I'm taking part more nowadays though. :)
ReplyDeleteI usually only enter contests for books. I don't like those that you have to keep entering day after day after day. I don't mind multiple entries at one time as long as they aren't too complex.
ReplyDeletenot too much; would have to be easy to enter
ReplyDeleteI do a few daily tweets for contests but that's about it. If it takes too long, it's not worth it to me.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Mystica!
You won 293 times in one year?! Whoah you sure did spend a lot of time on them
ReplyDeletei do enter at least one, not necessarily a new giveaway but some with daily entries i'm not winning that often if i compare to teh number in which i enter but it makes those win even more precious
( thank you!!!)
I follow several book blogs, so I tend to enter some of those giveaway posts and on Goodreads - love winning books or gift vouchers to buy books. :)
ReplyDeleteI love entering contests for books and gift cards. I've won a lot of books.
ReplyDeleteI enter a few, however, since I hardly ever win, I might enter maybe 3 a week.
ReplyDeleteI did win a book from Goodreads recently, my first in many, many years.
Congrats Mystica!
ReplyDeleteI enter contests that deal with books and gift cards. I win some of the contests but not a lot of them. I've tried some contests through Goodreads, but haven't ever won anything there yet.
I enter on a a few of my favorite blogs. I like the entries simple. Through the years I've mostly won books which I think is great! I've also won a few other nice things. Thanks to all the bloggers who run contests - I think they are fun.
ReplyDeleteI do quite often if it's not too tedious (i'm here now!) if it's books. Being an international reader it's hard to get ebooks sometimes due to geo restrictions and if available then they can be quite expensive. So, yeah a few minutes entering giveaways with fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI used to be really active about 1.5 years ago. For about 2 years. Work has crept up so I haven't had much time recently. So when I do get on the com to enter contests, it'll be for a few hours. Haven't won anything in a LONG time though. *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteWhen I was unemployed I would enter tons of contests for books after applying for jobs each day because whatever books I won were the only books I would read. But now that I've been back to work for the last year and a half I don't enter nearly as many...just when I have time. In fact this is the first time I've made it back to this blog in that time!
