Sharing Beyond Books #185 Comment Giveaway 1/10/2015

Hello again on Saturday night and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!

How has your first full week of 2015 been? I'm doing well on some resolutions and not good on others. *Sigh* We got very cold (as low as 19) these past couple of days.

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.

Only three of seventeen have a Little Free Library nearby. Most of us had not heard of this before, but many thought it was a great idea. I agree with Di, that I wondered if these were set up where there are no public libraries. The rules don't seem to restrict to that but it makes more sense.

The Winner from SBB #184 comments is: #1 ElizabethT who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post.  Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.

WEEK #185 (One Question.)

Q1. Nrlymrtl asks:  If you're in the middle of a very good book, perhaps even an intense scene, and the phone rings, what do you do? Answer? Ignore??
A: What a fun question! I keep my cell phone on silent most of the time so I don't know it rang until I pick it up again. :-) The house phone has an automatic answering machine so we usually don't answer it either but just return calls. So I guess I ignore the phones and don't let them interrupt my reading!
Maybe we should all have a Cell Lock-up for reading time!

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We still have a supply of questions but from the same people so hopefully others will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.

Your turn to share:

Q1. Nrlymrtl asks: If you're in the middle of a very good book, perhaps even an intense scene, and the phone rings, what do you do? Answer? Ignore??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the June 2013 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. I have to go back and update that list with what is left and a few new titles to add.)

SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on either of the two questions above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday January 17, 2015 at 5 PM  central.

  1. I usually ignore the phone reading, but I will check the caller id to make sure it was nothing very important.

  2. I totally ignore. You have to get your priorities straight.

  3. I'm afraid I answer the phone immediately when it rings. I should train myself to ignore it once in a while.

  4. I would check my phone - especially if hubby or my kids were out of the houses, just to make sure it wasn't them.

  5. Congrats to the winner. If it's really intense then I'll just call back. Of course if I hear it's an emergency coming over the answering machine I'll answer it.

  7. I'll answer. And when I'm done I'll re-read a few lines & dive right back in!

  8. I usually sigh dramatically and then run to answer it. Of course, I'm pretty sure I have the same reaction if someone interrupts me to talk or ask for something too. lol

  10. If I am reading, I am usually covered in cats. So if the phone rings, I will usually let the answering machine pick it up.

  11. I usually do pick up the phone because it could be something important, but it's still annoying.

  12. Saved from interruptions by not having a phone :)
I have a message only number where I pick up any calls for returning messages. No way they can interrupt my reading :))

  13. I tend to ignore the phone and continue reading, unless the call is from my husband. :)

  14. I'd answer. I don't have a problem putting down a book if I know I can get back to it

  17. Naughty me. I'd see if the caller is "worth" it first. Like family or close buds. If not, HMPH....back to the book!!!

  18. I let the phone go to the answering machine and screen the call. If it is not any urgent message I call the person back when I'm ready!

  19. If it's landline, I ignore it. It's usually telemarketer anyway. But I answer if it's my mobile phone. The magic of books is that they wait for you anyway~

  20. I'll check to see who the call is coming from. If it's really important, I'll answer. If not, I'll just make a mental note of the caller, and continue to read.

  21. I will check it only to see if my husband calls. We have our own business so he needs me to do something.

  22. It depends on who rings. If its someone important i answer but keep reading
