Happy Saturday Night and Happy December!! I am a bit tired after another full day of traveling to closing yesterday and busy day today. I am starting to pack for our trip to Hawaii and have all sorts of things running in my head that I need to do! AARGH! Is anyone else feeling rushed as the holiday season starts?
Thank you to all who shared last week.
The group is fairly split on book size: six prefer smaller or mass market, five prefer larger or trade, and one said medium but I don't know where that falls. Four said it doesn't matter and two more said it doesn't matter as long as the size is consistent within a series. Texas Book Lover chose Kindle, then small to hold but bigger to read. Several people mentioned that the bigger books, trade backs, seem to have larger text. I hadn't thought of that but winnie noted that the mass market are generally less expensive. .
Black Friday shopping was also split. Five of you do not have BF in your country, but Birgit shopped online and Abby thinks it might be fun to do BF shopping. :-) Six people DO NOT Shop on BF at all; two others only shopped online.Five actually did do some shopping, although Faith Hope Cherry Tea shopped the sales earlier in the week. nrlymrtl went out to dinner and a show, which sounds like fun.

WEEK #77 Questions
Q1. Birgit asks: How often have you re-read your all-time favorite book(s)? And how often do you generally re-read books??
I don't do a lot of re-reading... especially with so many 'new' review books and new authors to read. So I guess I have to say my re-reading is very rare. I have however picked up some older classics on audio to re-read, like Farenheit 451 which is waiting for me to listen to.
Q2. My question this week: Do you send out/give Christmas cards??
A: I do send cards from my office and for several years I have sent music CD cards to my clients. This year I am sending a pop-up spinner card. We used to give cards to everyone at church and also would mail a few. I have several boxes of cards still. On the home front we send computer cards to many of our family and only give real cards to those we share Christmas day with and maybe a handful of friends.
Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We can always use fresh questions.
November Questions were submitted by: Carol L, Winnie, Miki, Elizabeth and Margaret. The random pick is MIKI who gets to pick a book title.

1. I'm not re-reading all that often myself, though one of my favorite books I have read half a dozen times and I don't mind making room (or rather taking time) to read it again and again. Almost forgot - I did engage in a lot of re-reading in the Dean Koontz Reading Challenge this year. I'm glad I made time for this as it was wonderful to revisit "old" books. With other books I really wish I had the time to re-read them too, but like you said, Martha, with new books rolling in this is often hard.
ReplyDelete2. I love giving/sending Christmas cards! I also signed up to a Christmas card exchange for book bloggers (hosted by Leeswammes' Blog) this year! I think this will be fun!
1. I sometimes re-read books, particularly classics or various favorites. :)
ReplyDelete2. I usually mail Christmas cards to all our extended family and close friends...and email photo Christmas cards to everyone.
1) how often do i reread favorite i really don't know. i have a good memory so if i read a remember exactly what happen i prefer to wait so i reread them more when i need it because those are special to me, confort me etc so i can't tell you how often ( my mother reread more quickly ^^ and 5 or 10times wxithout problem ( in teh same years^^)
ReplyDelete2) i love sending card and letter, it's more personnal than an email and it's aproof i think about the person. This year i made a list those i need to send really early ( this week) because it's for poeple far abroad and then a list for europe one so i can send them 5days in advance
1. It's hard to say how often I re-read books because like Martha mentioned, there are so many new books coming out each month and my TBR pile is overflowing with new books for me to read. However, I do occasionally re-read my favourites or comfort reads, especially if I am in a reading slump, or when I just need a pick-me-up and spend time with a hero that makes me swoon ;) There's also the occasional re-reading of series books at times if a new one is coming out soon and I either need a refresher or I just want to spend some time in my favourites in that book world to get ready for the anticipated new release.
ReplyDelete2. I used to give out Christmas cards, but not so much anymore.
Congrats winners. I rarely get a chance to re-read any books. I have so many on my to read pile not counting new books that catch my eye.
ReplyDeleteI love sending and receiving cards. But I have to say I've been sending online cards more and more with a few exceptions (like my son who is in Special Forces and his unit) they need that personal touch when deployed.

1. I only reread if I absolutely have to, so since I got out of school, I have not reread anything, favorite or otherwise.
ReplyDelete2. I only give Christmas cards to family and close friends.
I think audio is an awesome way to do rereads. I find that it slows my reading pace down and I pick up things I may have missed before, adding to my enjoyment of the book.
ReplyDeleteWe do a Winter Letter that gets mailed/emailed to friends and family covering the year's antics of farm life (goats getting their heads stuck in the fence, a donkey's fear of books, baby chicks getting stuck in the apple buckets, etc.).
1. I typically don't reread books because I have so many new ones I want to read
ReplyDelete2. We send out cards but have cut back over the years on how many with the kids getting older

1. a lot of times; couple times a year
ReplyDelete2. yes
1. I don't reread books usually, I have too many new ones on my list that I want to read.
ReplyDelete2. Yes.
1. I have a few favourites that I re-read each year. They have been favourites for a long time now. One of them is A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens. I'm about to do my re-read now that it's December.
ReplyDelete2. I don't send out Christmas cards. If I'm not going to see someone in person over the Christmas period I telephone them.
I keep a couple of special favorites in the hopes that I will reread them someday. But, so far, no. And they are not books that would be available in audiobooks.
ReplyDeleteI stopped sending cards a couple years ago when funds dropped. I think about it but then forget about it until it is too late.

1. Depends on when the mood strikes me but I would say I would read my favorite books at least 3 times.
ReplyDelete2. No.
1. Yes when i was younger. Didnt hv as many bks then nor much of a budget to buy with. Happily now with ebks & giveaways i hv a healthy TBR list. I do still re-read some favs (lisa Kleypas for 1)
ReplyDelete2. ecards or sending wishes thru email/FB/social media. For relatives i tend to visit or wish them over the phone & hv a nice long conversation at the same time.

1. Quite often? This year not so much since there has been lots of wonderful new books. But I will usually pick up a few faves to re-read every year
ReplyDelete2. Not much of a Christmas card sender. Although we usually attach cards to pressies. Also a way to differentiate one pressie from another!
1) Sadly I don't re-read any of my books, though that is my excuse to buying them and not getting them from the library. lol Don't tell my husband. I guess I'm a litle bit of a book hoarder and it started out with the "I want them on my bookshelf so I can pick them up and read them again any time I want" With so many new books coming out and series I am always trying to keep up with it.....It doesn't happen. I have been slowly cleaing some books out and am only trying to keep the books I really like and I love to read on my kindle, but if it's a book I really like than I want it on my shelf. I think I've re-read a book only twice and that was for a review purpose to refresh my memory
ReplyDelete2. I used to be big on Christmas cards when my husband and I were first married. We just had the one kid and were living in our first house, so it was fun to take a family pic and send out tons of cards. Now we have three kids and have moved around and the last couple of years I've actually just phased it out. Buying stamps for all those cards and worrying about getting the cards doesn't seem as important as it used to be. Now, I just pick up the phone, send an e-mail or use facebook and when money is tight, I don't have to worry about buying extra stamps and instead worry about presents for my kiddos
1. I re-read my favourites once a year, but there's a particular book I've read 4 times this year. I really love it.
ReplyDelete2. I don't really send Christmas cards, unless someone sent me one then I kind of feel bad if I don't send one back.
