Sunday Words of Encouragement June 14, 2015

I love Sunday morning when we gather to worship and praise God. The messages blended well again this morning.

Our Sunday School teacher’s message was titled: God's Name is Blasphemed Because of You. (Isaiah 52:5, Ezekiel 36:20-24.) We are still studying in Romans 2. To greatly summarize the lesson: All sinners apart from law (Gentiles), perish apart from the law; those who sin under the law, will be judged by the law (the Jews). We are all sinners and God shows no partiality. Romans 2:6-11. God is kind but He is not soft. He firmly takes us by the hand and leads us to a radical life-change. We all have the ‘mark of God’ on our heart. Each person is driven to find a superior being but many don’t submit to allow their lives to be transformed. Many find religion but not relationship. Satan will use religion to manipulate people - especially to keep them away from a relationship with the true God. Too often believers are hypocrites proclaiming God’s love but not showing it in their treatment of others. Romans 3:9-18.

Pastor’s Sermon was called The Journey of Faith. When we first accept God, we begin by believing and receiving the gift of redemption by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:21. Our faith in Christ’s action of sacrifice and grace, allows us to be approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him. Romans 3:28, Ephesians 1:6-8.

Your “Standing” is in Christ. Knowing who you are makes a dramatic way you live. We are heirs no matter what we look like. Those who receive overflowing grace and the free gift of righteousness, reign as kings in life through one man, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17.

Your “State” is in Life. Your “standing” is who you are in God; your “state” is what is around you. Your state cannot touch your standing, but your state can touch a) your testimony, b) your peace of mind, c) your spiritual enjoyment and d) God's glory in you. Always focus on your Standing, allowing it to guide your State.

I love how I am lead to find songs to meet the message! I know it is not coincidence.
I was looking at another song by MercyMe but found this one more appropriate for today.
Verses for Today:
Romans 3:22-24 (NIV)
22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Thank you God for your sovereignty and Your saving grace. I pray that You keep me humble and mindful of my standing that comes only through You, and not of any work I can do. Help me to keep my heart and eyes focused on You.
