Sunday Post June 4, 2023/It's Monday! What are You Reading? Plus Mailbox Monday June 5, 2023

Sunday Post #318 Chairs, Compliance, and Storms
I am linking with Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? now at The Book Date (at Wordpress)
What Are You Reading? is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I continue to have long weeks juggling my several tasks at work.
We had a great turn out for the Woman's Club & 4 H first week of Summer Camp! The kids had fun and the adults survived.

Saturday we had a group of 15 attend the GFWC Florida District 2 meeting in Chattahoochee, another Woman's Club 21 miles to the East (in Eastern time).
It was a lovely event of fellowship and food.
Here is a photo of our ladies:
There are six clubs in District 2 and we each get to share what our club has done in the community over the last four months. Here I am (talking) during our "Brag Time".

My continuing prayers include prayers for more unity in all nations, a calmer social atmosphere, and for revival. We are also continuing prays for family and church.

Temps seem to be warming again. I'm glad to be in the office under AC during the days. Temps will be pushing into the 90s this coming week.

I only finished one audio this past week although I am well along in another. I posted three reviews and my memes.

I only visited 13 blogs last week.
Shout out this week: LESA'S BOOK CRITIQUES. Lesa has a serious background in library management/administration and some expertise as a reviewer of mysteries.

Audiobooks.com is still sharing some free listens for children.

1. Audible Smartphone (ATBR)

When the Morning Glory Blooms
By: Cynthia Ruchti
Narrated by: Melinda Sward
Length: 9h 27m
This was on my list for "Time of Day" goal and I saw that it expires (as a free title) on June 8, so I pulled it to the top of my listening.
I enjoyed the three lines of the touching story.

Publisher's Summary
Becky rocks a baby that rocked her world. Sixty years earlier, with her fiancé, Drew, in the middle of the Korean Conflict, Ivy throws herself into her work at a nursing home to keep her sanity and provide for the child Drew doesn't know is coming. Ivy cares for Anna, an elderly patient who taxes Ivy's listening ear until the day she suspects Anna's tall tales are not the ramblings of dementia. They're fragments of Anna's disjointed memories of a remarkable life. Finding a faint thread of hope she can't resist tugging, Ivy records Anna's memoir, scribbling furiously after hours to keep up with the woman's emotion-packed, grace-hemmed stories. Is Ivy's answer buried in Anna's past? Becky, Ivy, Anna - three women fight a tangled vine of deception in search of the blossoming simplicity of truth.

Publisher's Summary
Elizabeth is at a crossroads. Will rumschpringe lead her away? Or bring her home? She's been given the chance to experience life outside of her community, away from the responsibility to care for her eight younger siblings, but Elizabeth Bontrager can't decide which road to take. Goshen has its charms and pressures, but Paradise, Pennsylvania, sounds...well, like paradise. And it's also home to her Englisch friend, Paula. Decision made. Elizabeth is Paradise bound. But will the small town live up to its name?
When Elizabeth meets Paula's friend, Bruce, she quickly learns he wants more than a friendship. And the same might be true of Saul Miller, her new boss at the country store that sells Amish products to the Englisch community. As the two compete for her attention, Elizabeth is surprised to realize she misses her family and becomes even more uncertain about where she belongs. She has a choice to make: return home or embrace this new life and possibly a new love?

June 4, 2023 - I am doing the daily readings of BibleProject plan: The Full Story - "From the beginning to the Amen". I am still enjoying the readings in Job.
No new separate study yet.

I finished one audio title and posted three reviews.  That puts me at two reviews to post to be totally up to date.

NETGALLEY STATUS--
I now have two audios left on my NetGalley shelf as I am listening to another one this week. The two remaining are shorter (under 6 hours).
I still have the two old NetGalley ebook titles.

I have one author review in my queue that I need to start reading on my computer. (I need to look back and see which one this is.)
(Plus a few that I received from Facebook links and newsletter sign-ups, not specific review requests.)
Still many titles through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Welcome to Mailbox Monday.
Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday. Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit, me, and newest to the team, Emma at Words and Peace.
Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

No new review titles and no purchases.
I got 10 free titles through Audible Plus Catalog.
No free Kindle titles last week.

  1. We got into the 80's this weekend, but it's back down to the 70's this coming week. I think we will have more sun and less clouds, at least.

  5. It hasn't been warm enough here yet to turn on the AC although I came close yesterday. Today it is back to only 60F. I stayed away from Audible Plus this week but succumbed to some Chirp offerings. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
