Sunday Post September 27, 2020/It's Monday! What are You Reading? Plus Mailbox Monday September 28, 2020

Sunday Post #318 Chairs, Compliance, and Storms
I am linking with Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading now at The Book Date (at Wordpress)?
What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

The commercial closing went well and then I had to start catching up with other work. I still have probates and litigation files that need work.
Our courts are allowing us to move forward on foreclosures and evictions so I have several of those to work on.

I took this picture through my passenger window as I was coming home one evening. There have been fauns out but I haven't gotten pictures of them yet.

We had more heavy rains this week. Our temperatures are varied from low 70s to mid 80s.

I enjoyed my reading and listening this week although it seemed slow. I finished only one audiobook. I am midway in my NetGalley ebook, which I am enjoying and am midway concentrating on the second audiobook. I posted three reviews and my usual memes.

Don't forget- Audible is offering free children's titles during these days at home.
Audiobooks.com is also offering free listens for children.

These were last week's posts:
  • A2020- Audible Book Review: Interview with the Robot by Lee Bacon; Genre: Children's Audiobooks, Science Fiction & Fantasy; My Rating: 4.5 of 5.0 Overall; Story 4.5; Narration 4.5.

I'm keeping track of my Alphabet here as I finish the books. These are the letters that remain:
NETGALLEY:  H  M  U X  Y and Z
AUDIO:             X  and  Z

September 27, 2020 - I am caught up and commited again to reading first thing each morning.
I am still enjoying the devotions and readings with the One Year Bible plan through You Version App. I considered changing but this is the reading group that is closest to my husband's reading so we can sometimes discuss the same passages.
I will pick another study this week after enjoying the 3-day study: Even Now From Life.Church Worship.

I completed three books and posted three reviews which keeps me up to date.
My NetGalley shelf is still 5, one current and the four titles from 2012-13 which I still hope to read this year. Two are good for October.
I have added no new author review titles this week. I still have one carry over author ebook left. I have two audiobooks from authors. At lease one of these will be for October.
Still many titles through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Welcome to Mailbox Monday.
Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday. Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Leslie of Under My Apple Tree, Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit and (yours truly). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
No new review titles this week.

Someday I'll check the email requests I have been receiving. {Sigh.}
I downloaded the free book at ChristianAudio and I added another 8 Audible Plus titles.
I finally picked my September VIP at Audiobooks.com.
I am still eyeing the Audiobook Clubs which allows you to use a credit for a club grouping and you can listen to any of the books in that group for that month. I am planning to use one credit in the first day or two of October to make that buy.

No free Kindle titles this week.
(Note these are in my Amazon library, NOT on my Kindle until I download and transfer them.)
Are your mailbox and TBR piles blooming?

I had a hard time selecting my Audiobooks.com VIP choice.
I wasn't impressed by the sample on the sci-fi; there were a couple of non-fiction that interested me and a couple of romances. Then there were two thrillers. Based on listening samples it came down to a historical romance and a contemporary mystery. I chose the mystery because it is a new to me author.

  2. Oh dear, foreclosures and evictions can't really be much fun to have to work on. Amazing that you pass so close to those deer. I am not much good at the streaming of the Audible plus titles but its a nice concept.

  3. I am looking forward to Friday as I am going for a short break of just three days. It has been far far too long.

  4. Hi Martha,

Over here in the UK, we have extended our ban on private rented evictions until the end of the year, although I'm not sure what is happening with regard to mortgage evictions.

We have quite a few deer parks around here, although many of them have been closed during Covid, so we haven't visited any this year - maybe next year?

Sometimes I get the same feeling with NetGalley as you get with Audiobooks, so I have decided that if there is nothing I really like the sound of, I will just close the link, as it is all too easy to download something I'm not too sure about, just to say I have a book!! Mind you NetGalley is free so that's not too much of an issue, but do you have to pay a subscription for Audiobooks? if so, that's a whole different ball game!

I really like the sound of 'Ruthless Game', so that one is heading for my list.

Thanks for sharing and I hope that your week isn't too stressful :)

    Yvonnne xx

  5. I imagine that foreclosures, evictions and probate will crowd the courts for some time.

  7. I read Silent Bite this week and enjoyed it. Now I need to catch up on the many, many other Andy Carpenter books I haven't read. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  8. I only finished my audiobook last week too. I've been reading a nonfiction book which always takes longer than reading fiction.

  9. I love that pic of those fawns! Looks like work is keeping you busy. Of course, The Rewired Brain caught my eye. I'm going to see if they have it on Audible.

  10. What a great photo! I was walking in the woods by my house this morning and caught some nice shots. At least working from home has some advantages.

The Dog That Talked to God seems so cute. Hope you enjoy all your books.

I'm worried about foreclosures next year. It seems like there will be some opportunities for investors coming up.
