It's Monday! What Are You Reading now at The Book Date (at Wordpress)?
What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
Thankfully, my staff member tested negative for Covid19. Her husband has been permitted to return to work so she returned to our office late in the week.
Meanwhile, my assistant stayed home ill for a few days and then the rest of the week with ill children.
My work is a little behind with files waiting on her desk for efiling, invoicing and mailing. I know she'll catch up quickly.
I have to call the new contractor early this week to see if they are getting an inspection by the insurance company.
I was able to get several pictures of this pretty butterfly on the zinnias that returned in our planter.
These were taken through a french door window and cropped to be larger so they are not as clear as I'd like.
We continue to have hot days and rain that leaks in the temporary office. :-(
I enjoyed the books I was reading/listening to this week. Sadly I dropped my kindle and it is frozen. So I have to download The Lane Betrayal to one of my other tablets so I can finish it. I only finished one audio and got half way through another. I posted three reviews and my usual memes.
I visited only 14 blogs last week.

August 16, 2020 - I finally am caught up on daily reading. I need to be in the word every day. I am again enjoying the devotions and readings with the One Year Bible plan through You Version App. I considered changing but this is the reading group that is closest to my husband's reading so we can sometimes discuss the same passages.
Now that I am caught up I will look through my saved studies.
I completed one book and posted three reviews. I am up to date.
My NetGalley shelf is still at 3, plus the four titles from 2012-13 which I still hope to read this year.
I'm resisting adding any more NetGalley titles until I get some of my review titles done. I still have one carry over author ebook left. I have two audiobooks from authors. I feel good getting caught up on these books.
Still many titles through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Glad to hear about her negative test results, but so sorry to hear about your assistant's family and falling behind. That can be stressful. Hopefully, all is back to normal soon.

ReplyDeleteOuch to dropping your Kindle. Something I always am aware can happen. I knocked my phone the other day but it was okay so that was good. Sorry about all the sickness around your office but better to be sure these days.

Hot days and rain are great for the garden but not so great for a leaky office.Good to see your catching up on your outstanding reviews. I'm down to 5 outstanding on Netgalley and I can feel the stress leaving with each new review. :)

ReplyDeleteI think these growing uncertainties with Covid are going to rumble on until we finally get a vaccine, which is going to make it almost impossible for employers to plan ahead - I guess this is what they call the 'new normal' and everything is going to take that little bit longer.
ReplyDeleteI hope that your Kindle managed to sort itself out and you haven't had the outlay of a new device. These things are great when they work, but a real pain when they break!
Time travel is not a genre I would choose very often, although I do remember reading the very first book that John Heldt wrote, 'The Mine'. I did actually really enjoy it, but it wasn't until I saw you mention his name, that I thought to check out what he was doing these days. I had no idea that he had become such a prolific author, so I might catch up with one of his other series at some point in time.
I hope that you are enjoying 'The Lane Betrayal' and that you have some great reading / listening lined up for the rest of the week :)
