Sunday Post March 17, 2019/It's Monday! What are You Reading? Plus Mailbox Monday March 18, 2019

Sunday Post #318 Chairs, Compliance, and Storms
I am linking with Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading now at The Book Date (at Wordpress).
What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

We had a nice week with closings and Heather preparing to be off this coming week of spring break.
I continue to work on files and consults in office. This week I have several court hearings locally.
No word from the engineer and architect yet. The contractor is anxious.
We had an upset Saturday night with I went to investigate the chickens squawking. I discovered a large opossum in the hen house. I got hubby out of bed to help chase it off. We only counted 11 of our 12 chickens this morning and one is injured. We braced the egg lid shut as we think that is how it got in.
Our temps got cooler again Saturday. We are supposed to have temps ranging from 41 to 70 all this week.

My reading seemed slow again but I did finish the long audio and started two new books. I finished 1 audio and 1 children's ebook. I posted three reviews and my usual memes.

I did better and got to 24 blogs last week.
Shout Out this week to Read All The Things. Aj's "about page" shows the fun side: "Aj Sterkel: first of her name, the unchilled, queen of the books and the nachos, kahleesi of the great sprawling suburbs, breaker of desk chairs, and mother of dogs."
Thank you to all the nice people who visit me.

These were last week's posts:
  • ebTBR- Book Review and Giveaway: A Bride Most Begrudging by Deeanne Gist; Christian, Historical Romance; My Rating: 4.0 of 5.0. 2 Copies; US and Canada; Ends 2/23/19.

Wish
by Chris Saunders
This is a charming book.
Review linked above.
Source: NetGalley 2019.
Rabbit has never had a wish before; but one day he gets not just one, but three! Wish is a touching story about the power of kindness and the magic of friendship, with beautiful and emotive illustrations from Chris Saunders.
Once every year wishes take flight,
filled with hope and twinkling light.
They dance in the air, with a swirl and a swish,
you have to be lucky to be chosen by a wish.
Rabbit cannot decide what to wish for, so he asks his friends Mouse, Fox, and Bear what they would do if they had a wish. Being selfless and kind, Rabbit grants all three wishes to his friends. They are so grateful for his kindness and generosity, they share their wishes with him.

Zero G
By: Dan Wells
Narrated by: Emily Woo Zeller, Margaret Ying Drake, Josh Hurley, Eddy Lee, Jennifer Van Dyck, Allyson Johnson, David Shih, Betsy Hogg
Length: 4 hrs and 8 mins
I needed a shorter listen and this will add a Z title.
Source: Free Audible Original December 2018.
It’s one kid versus an entire band of space pirates in this cosmic middle grade caper from New York Times bestselling author Dan Wells.
Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage. With everyone he knows fast asleep, it’s up to Zero to think fast and find a way to stop them–all on his own.
The full cast for this production includes Emily Woo Zeller, Margaret Ying Drake, Betsy Hogg, Josh Hurley, Jonathan Davis, Jennifer Van Dyck, Chelsea Spack, Charlie Thurston, David Shih, Eunice Wong, Eddy Lee, Allyson Johnson, and Polly Lee.

March 17, 2019 - I am staying up to date with the One Year Bible plan reading through You Version App.
I completed a 5 day reading plan: Whisper: How To Hear The Voice Of God By Mark Batterson
I'll be picking another study this week.
[You can check out audio of the One Year Bible Plan on the companion commentary online.]

I completed two books and posted three reviews. That puts me current with only 1 review to post for current reading.
I need to catch up adding newer reviews to NetGalley, Goodreads, Amazon and Audible again. (Not counting the older reviews.)
I added three titles and read one so my NetGalley shelf is now at 13 unread from December to date plus 4 old titles (2012!) that I might get read this year. I now have four author ebook titles in queue.

Still many through InstaFreebie and many new author requests I haven't replied to.

Welcome to Mailbox Monday.

Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. This Meme started with Marcia at A Girl and Her Books (fka The Printed Page) and after a tour of hosts has returned to its permanent home at Mailbox Monday. Thanks to the ladies sharing hosting duties: Leslie of Under My Apple Tree, Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit and (yours truly). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
I added three new titles from NetGalley and one review request.
I picked up four audio titles and purchased two $.99 Kindle titles.
I picked up 20 free kindle titles. (Note these are in my Amazon library, NOT on my Kindle until I download and transfer them.)
Are your mailbox and TBR piles blooming?

  8. Hi Martha,

As many of your books this time are from genres that I probably wouldn't add to my own list, I was about to write a generic reply about enjoying all your finds, when I spotted an author's name I knew from the past...

The cover of 'Indian Paintbrush' had already caught my eye as being bright and original, but then I noticed the author name, John A. Heldt.

I read and organized some promotional posts for John's first book 'The Mine', way back in 2015. Whilst I enjoyed the book, I don't really read time travel stories, so I never kept up to date with John's career, which has obviously gone from strength to strength, which is so good to see!

I hope that you enjoy 'Indian Paintbrush' and I look forward to you sharing your thoughts about the story :)

    Yvonne xx
