Sharing Beyond Books #343 Comment Giveaway May 5, 2018

Hello again and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!

My work is still very crazy; so little time for anything else except reading of course!

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
Eight of us would speak to the parents of a troubled teen - everyone agreed to speak out of the hearing of the teen. Three would most likely not speak to the parents; two indicated "it depends" and one said they would speak "only if asked".

The Winner from SBB #342 comments is: #12 Marjorie who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated (**Finally!) ARC/Review titles or (recently updated) Love and Christmas titles - all linked near the end of the post.

**NOTE: I did post an Updated ARC and Other books for Giveaways. I have to go back and list the titles -- someday.
Please let me know your choice by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #343
(One Question.)

bn100 asks: How do you decide which books to giveaway? Since some of you don't host giveaways maybe you could share how you decide which books to try to win. :-)
I usually have an extra of my Ladies Book Club copies so that I can offer those. I gather inexpensive books for use at Friday Book Pick and also I pick books from my own shelves. At first I selected books that I decided I would not get to read and I could get on Kindle if I wanted to. Lately I have dipped into some of my collections as I would rather share the books then have them on my shelves when I no longer am reading print books very much.
These are three of my bookshelves and there is another shelf upstairs and several boxes still.
I figure I will never get to read them all.
This shelf is in the 'basement' room; some of the boxes are collections.
I haven't taken time to straighten it in a while.
The top two shelves are collected books. (Note below them are VCRs we haven't gotten rid of yet.)
The top shelf has children's books. The next two are collections.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify.

Your turn to share. bn100 asks: How do you decide which books to giveaway? Since some of you don't host giveaways maybe you could share how you decide which books to try to win. :-)

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Updated ARC and Other books, including the "Love" and Christmas titles all in one post.

SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday May 19, 2018 at 5 PM central.

  1. I don't host giveaways, but I partecipate in those that I know I'd want to read the book. I never enter if it's one of the genres I don't read, like YA or paranormal, etc. Also, I always check if it's open worldwide.

  4. Thanks for the win.
I pass my read books to friends or I donate them. I like mystery books the most.

  6. I read mostly digital now, so luckily don't have the problem as much. For print books, if I'm sure I'm not going to reread them, I'm happy to give them away

  7. Congrats to Marjorie!
I host giveaways, but usually let the winner decide what book they want. If I do have a book to giveaway, it's often one the publisher offers me for review, and instead of passing entirely, I host a giveaway and feature. If I choose the book, it's generally one that resonated deeply in me, like To Kill A Mockingbird. As for the giveaways I enter, they have to be books I feel like I'll die without reading. Having so many books on hand, I try not to enter a giveaway just for the sake of it. It has to be a series I'm already hooked on, or a new book by a favorite author.

  8. Congrats Marjorie!
I usually read the blurb and if it sounds good I'll enter to win. I also have a list of books I want to read so I'll enter those giveaways.

  9. Even though I don't host book giveaways, I tend to pass along books that I've read to friends or add to Free Little Libraries. I tend to enter giveaways for books that I want to read! :)

  11. I don;t host giveaway but I do pass on books I don't plan on reading. When it comes winning giveaways, I enter a giveaway only if I'm interested in the book that is offered.

I don't host book giveaways, but I will give books that I read to friends that want to read them. I enter giveaways of books that I want or if the book sounds I interesting.

  13. Congrats Marjori!
I used to do giveaways with books I've read and with giftcards... I usually enter the ones for the books I want to read and for giftcards so I could buy whatever I wanted :)

  14. I used to host giveaways and would just set a prize amount, usually for TBD. As for the ones I want to win, my aim right now is to focus on completing any book series I have going on at the moment but also making some room for some of the newer, hyped about books.

  15. I share books with friends and donate some to our local library. I keep the series books and the ones by favoite authors.
