Sharing Beyond Books #186 Comment Giveaway 1/172015

Hello again on Saturday night and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!

How is everyone doing this week? Half way through January already. I had a busy week and nice today re-packing our new, used RV. :-) DH is getting anxious to take a test trip so we are organizing!

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.

It was very nice to have six new visitors to SBB! Hope to see you again. The group was split well: 10 of us ignore call interruptions, 6 answer and then get back to reading, and 8 check to see if it is a) husband or children, b) emergency or c) someone (else) important or worth answering!

The Winner from SBB #185 comments is: #17 Rita who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. I'm hoping to update the book choices this week. Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.

WEEK #186 (One Question.)

Q1. Miki asks:  What kind of bookish things ( aside from book) would you suggest offering to a book lover??
A: Well- as much as books may be a favorite item for a book lover you could also consider book lights, nice book marks; sticky notes or note pad to take bookish notes. And there are also snacks (chips and/or chocolate!) to enjoy while reading and teas to drink while reading. I saw some more ideas when I pulled the image but I'll wait to see your suggestions!

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We still have a supply of questions but from the same people so hopefully others will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.

Your turn to share:

Q1. Miki asks: What kind of bookish things ( aside from book) would you suggest offering to a book lover??

SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the June 2013 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. I have to go back and update that list with what is left and a few new titles to add.)

SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on either of the two questions above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday January 24, 2015 at 5 PM  central.

  1. I would suggest beeswax candles which give off a warm glow and nice delicate scent. Of course, the booklover will still probably want a light on to read by, but the candle gives you a cozy atmosphere.

  3. I'd suggest a nice bookmark and definitely an e-reader. I download everything to my Nook Color now - never read an actual physical book and love it

  4. I agree with Martha also. They have some reall cute and quilted. Book covers for those still reading paper books. The snacks are a good call, limited though because with me I'll be so engrossed in my favorite Hero that one handd is turnin pages & the other is grabbing a snack. lol Before I know it I'm getting biggeer with every book. :)

  5. My niece had gotten me LightWedge which has a clear flat plastic piece that sheds a light across the books page from some small lights along the handle edge. It saved my sanity during hurricane sandy when I was without electric for 10 days! It casts plenty of light for reading, but wouldn't disturb others in the room.

  6. Depends on the person, but I have a friend who collects bookmarks, so when I see neat and new ones I always grab them for her.
    :-)
