Sharing Beyond Books #181 Comment Giveaway 12/13/2014

Hello again on Saturday night and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!

This was another nice week of consistent work but no great stress. We are still trying to get things ready so we can have the a handful of days off around Christmas. I'm not ready - the cards have not been sent, the tree is only half trimmed and I haven't finished all my shopping. Still - I am not stressing over these things but focusing on the true meaning of the season instead. :-)

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.

I am rather surprised that so few of us are audio book listeners. Only three out of eighteen listen to audiobooks regularly. A few others listen rarely but the majority do not listen. You can get a small MP3/4 player for under $50.00 if you ever want to start listening. I'll try to do another giveaway with a player in 2015.

The Winner from SBB #180 comments is: #6 Marjorie who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles, Christmas titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post.  Please let me know your choice by completing the (new) WINNER FORM.

WEEK #181 (One Question.)

Q1. Nikki asks:  Do you regift presents? Or do you prefer to exchange a terrible gift for something else you prefer??
A: Honestly, I do occasionally regift some gifts - things like house decorations I won't use. I gather that it is becoming more acceptable. I also exchange some gifts and will usual tell the gifter if I did that and if the opportunity to say so nicely comes up. I never re-gift hand made or personally selected items. Those have special meaning due to the thought from the giver.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We still have a supply of questions but from the same people so hopefully others will send more in -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify to use.

Your turn to share:

  2. No I don't typically regift - I will exchange a gift before I give it to someone else

  3. Congrats, Marjorie - Enjoy :)

Seldom do I regift unless it would be meaningful for a particular person and I have so little success in exchanging as it all depends on stock at the store where purchased.

  4. i don't redo gift, yes if it's some sweets i will problaby share with my family but resell, exchange or giving away a gift for me it's not acceptable and if it was handmade of specially selected it would be nearly a crime ( when i see the time i'm working on those i would take that as traehison i think^^)

  7. Congrats Marjorie!
I have re-gifted twice, but they were things I already owned which is why. I would never exchange a gift. Someone took time to get it for you, it's not nice to take it back. Just my opinion.

  8. I have only regifted something that was a very impersonal gift---like one from a company or store, not from an individual.

  9. No I don't re-gift. I keep all gifts unless they are clothes that don't fit. Then I try to exchange them for the right size. I hate hurting anyone's feelings.

  10. Yes, I regift items and family and friends like the idea and regift to/from us as well. But we are moving more towards consumable gifts (homemade jams, cookies, or things like fancy teas or coffees) and these things we can share with family and friends if they aren't quite to our taste.

  11. I would not know how to begin to exchange without the receipts. So that's out, but I do re-gift. I do not see the purpose in something just sitting in my cupboard when I know someone else will appreciate it.

  12. I neither exchange nor regift. I think regifting is tacky. Gifts are selected for the person to whom they're presented. They should be cherished, no matter how unsuited the gift may actually be the intended recipient. I was brought up to appreciate ALL gifts. So that's what I try my very best to do.

  13. not really - I don't wrap & give as an 'gift', but I have gotten somethings that I pass on to other family members and they know it was a gift to me

  14. I haven't regifted and as far as returning something it only been done once as I already hd it. Congrats to the winner.

  15. I don't think I've re-gifted but if a gift was unused and would be welcome by the recipient I'd probably do it.
Re audiobooks - I've had a 1 credit/month Audible membership for a few years. I love to listen while I walk outdoors or while knitting. I have the app on my iPhone. I'm wondering about mp3s. Is there a way to listen via app? Perhaps Overdrive? I'm not tech savvy enough to figure it out on my own, lol.
