We have traveled through seven states this week (Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania) and have arrived safely at Maryland where we will be visiting our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. The weather has been very nice so far with the lowest temperature being 41F.

We did not make the detour to Punxsutawney, PA and as scottsgal pointed out that is not where Groundhog Day was filmed anyway!
None of us have specifically traveled to a place because we have read about it in a book. Two would like to visit the Highlands (thanks to Historical Romances), several would like to visit England (thanks to Regencies) and another group would like to visit New Orleans. I am like Di and Elizabeth because we have been more aware of places when we do visit cities we have read about.

Q1. This week Becky asks: 1. When reading a book can you predict how the story will end?and if so Were your predictions correct??
A: I certainly try to predict or guess endings. I would say that I am only correct half the time. That is good because there is almost always fun being surprised either at the ending or how the story got there. :-)

I don't always try to guess the endings. When I do try sometime I firgue correctly, but for the most part I don't guess correctly.

ReplyDeleteI usually do have predictions as I read, though they can sometimes get a little out there. I do usually get my predictions correct to some degree, and sometimes even my most outlandish answers end up being right, or else the ending is even more out there, which I love.
ReplyDeleteIf a book can shock/surprise me with the ending that when I look back, I can kinda see it building up to this ending, yet when I was reading it the first time, I never saw it coming, that's a 5-star read for me usually.

I try not to predict books. It happens sometimes, without trying, but I do prefer to let it happen as it will.

ReplyDeleteI don't try to predict book endings - but I don't like obvious endings. In mysteries I like endings you'd never suspect
ReplyDeleteI don't try to predict the endings, but sometimes things are super obvious, and that always saddens me. I prefer when a logical twist happens that I wasn't expecting at all.
ReplyDeleteI like to just let the story flow and try not to guess the ending. It's a little disappointing to me to have the ending so obvious that I unintentionally guess it.

ReplyDeleteI read mostly mysteries and I try to guess, sometimes I am right, mostly I am wrong.
I sometimes correctly predict the endings to books, but I enjoy being surprised with the storyline.

I read mainly romance so of course I expect the HEA. I do get pleasantly surprised by the storyline & plot in some fantasy books I've read for which I have utmost admiration for the author for coming up with it.
