Sharing Beyond Books #100 Comment Giveaway May 18, 2013

Hi Friends. Happy Saturday night and Welcome to SBB, Sharing Beyond Books.

I've  had another busy week but good. Hope things are well with each of you.
(I apologize if some of you missed last week's link as I forgot to link it until late in the week. You can get there from the tab on the right side bar if I ever forget to link again.)
Thank you to all who shared last week.

We have a wide interest in vacation spots and some even like staycations (Linda and miki). Some named specific destinations like New Orleans (calicolady) and Las Vegas (LindaK). Others named countries or areas like beach or mountains.

It looks like I made some of you go hunting for author in your birth year/decade. :-) There certainly are some good books for us to read!

The Winner from SBB #99 comments is: #7 Ricki who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the ARC/Review titles, Christmas titles or Love titles - all linked near the end of the post.  Please let me know your choice by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #100 Questions

Q1. Margaret asks:  Are you a closet romance reader or are not afraid to bare those brazen covers out in public??
A: Funny, good question. The nice thing about an eReader is no one sees those brazen covers! I will say I am a closet romance reader. If I am going to be in public reading then I take my Kindle instead of the paperback. :-)
I thought this was funny from my search for an appropriate image.

Q2. My non-bookish Question this week: Do you play computer games? Maybe you are a closet game player??
A: I just recently started to play some games and boy can you get sucked in on time! I really like Hidden Memory: Rooms of Memory and I will play a bit of Candy Crush and a few others although most of the others have lost their appeal.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We can always use fresh questions. I do have a group of questions from the same submitters so if you have a question don't be afraid to ask!

  1. 1. Seeing how I'm not a romance reader I would obviously not be caught anywhere with steamy book covers *lol*. However, if I were to read a novel with a sexy cover in public, I wouldn't mind what other folks think.

    2. I did play a couple of Facebook games, but have stopped along with the games having been shut down (there goes my beloved Pet Society). Playing Mahjong online is something I enjoy, but rarely find myself doing these days.

  4. I'll say I'm a closet romance reader. Some of the covers are really out there so I usually have a quilted book cover I use in case there are little ones around. :)

I only play Solitaire . And that's once in awhile. Games get to addicting and I don't want to take time from my reading. :)

    Congrats to the winner.

  5. 1. Nope, not big on those romance novels. I guess I have been single too long.

    2. I play myVegas on facebook. I plan to use my points sometime soon to get a free room and other stuff. If anyone else plays and wants to be my friend, that would be great. We can get more points that way. And, if you haven't played yet, it's a lot of fun, too.

  6. 1. Romance is just not my cup of tea. The only time that I enjoy romance is when it is in historical fiction book. The woman has to be intelligent, witty and definitly not submissive.

    2. I love video games that I can download and play for an hour. My favorites are Match 3, Mahong and Hidden Objects. I have two cockatiels and they like to sit on my shoulders when I play the Match 3 games. They give me praise with I make a big score and make screeching sounds when I make a mistake.

  7. 1. I guess I would have to say closet, although I don't read romances too often.
    2. Not a closet game player! I especially love old-school RPGs.

  8. Q1: I use to be a closet romance reader when I was younger, but now I don't care. Sometimes by baring those brazen covers out in public, brings some interesting conversations about the cover, story, and/or the author. I've met some people who also enjoy reading that author that I am reading at that time and we would talk about other stories from that author or other authors we like to read.
Q2: I love playing computer games. I don't play them as much right now, but that is only because of my work schedule and the fact that I need a newer computer since a lot of the games use a lot of the resources on a computer.

  9. I had never really thought about it before but I guess I am a closet romance reader!
I do play solitaire, spider solitaire, and hearts on the computer but haven't gotten into any of the others.

  10. I can't say I have ever finished a Romance book. I started one while stuck at a family friend's house for a few hours. I don't mind romance in my stories, but I definitely like an intricate plot, developed characters that grow, and detailed settings. The few Romance genre books I have sampled have lacked those qualities.

Yes, I am a gamer and not shy about it. I love Sid Meier's Civilization, Titan Quest, all 3 Diablos. We recently got an Xbox, so I am still trying to pry the controllers from my man's hands so I can give it a go.

  11. 1: I don't read much romance, but on the occasions that I do it isn't in public. So that makes me a closet romance reader.

2: I don't play video games. I used to a lot, and I wasn't a closet gamer, as you could say.:)

  12. Lol I love that question!
I really like that people sees the shiny and beautiful covers with alpha males on it. They stare, oh they do! but I just smile and keep reading :)

I have always loved to play videogames. I play on Facebook Criminal Case, really good. I started playing Candy Crush buuuut.. I don't know if this just happens to me or what, the candies look so real that I want to eat candy all day. So nope, not good for my health!

  13. 1. I tend to read romance books at home or on my iPod touch. :)

    2. I don't play computer games; however, I occasionally play games on the iPod touch.

  14. Congrats Ricki!

#1 No I am not worried if anyone sees me with a hot romantic novel.
    #2 I like mahjong, that's it.

  15. Ha, yes, I suppose I might be a closet romance reader, especially when I'm at work with a book. But, I think it's mainly the racy covers I don't want to openly display. Aside from that, I don't mind.

And yes, I don't mind admitting I have played plenty of computer games in the past. If I had more time, I might play now. :)

  16. 1) I rarely read those books anyway so I am not a closet romance reader. When I read romance it is usually Inspirational.

2)I do not play computer games often either.

  17. I'm not much worried if people see what I'm reading & I read mainly romance. I happily carry a book with me wherever I go.

No, not interested in computer games at all.

  18. A1. I am easily embarrassed, so I am definitely a closet romance reader. If the cover is not brazen, then I don't mind to take it out in public.
A2. I used to play diamond mine and others similar to it. But I haven't played computer games in a really long time. I am curious about the Nancy Drew games, though.

    Thanks for having the giveaway.

  19. 1. I can be a closet romance reader, but it depends upon the cover. I don't really need to display a buxom wench & bare-chested hero at the Doctor's office, for example.

    2. I don't play video games. Too much else I want to do.

  20. I am not shy about what I read. In fact, I was asked in class what I was reading right now and I honestly answered with an obvious romance book title.

I do play computer games, but only once in a while. I'm more of a bookie and tv watcher. Those are my vices!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  21. I am not shy about what I am reading, I do not care what other people think haha. A lot of people do not like reading and give me weird looks most of the time, not because of what I am reading, but because I am reading. I have learned to deal with it!

I used to play video games, I have a PS3, but I do not play at all anymore. My console just sits there gathering dust. I prefer to do more proactive things with my time!

  22. I haven't read a steamy romance in a while, but when I did, I definitely hid the cover. Got to love ereaders since they eliminate that concern.

I go through phases where I play a lot of computer games. Lately it's been Picross, Bejewelled and Bingo.

  24. 1. It's my business what I read so I don't worry about it.

    2. I don't play computer games.

  25. I read a lot of romances. When in public, if the cover is embarrassing, I put the book in a Vera Bradley cloth book cover. I love using this because no one can tell what I am reading.

The only computer game I play is Solitaire, and that can be really addicting.

  27. Q1. LOVE romance! But, I have been lucky it seems. My fave romance author, Judith McNaught has brazen covers as well as tasteful ones! So I buy the tasteful ones and I have no problems promoting her books!! Yup.

Q2. Used to be a pretty big computer game person....The Sims, Star Wars, some other battle ones. Now the only game I have time for is Candy Crush. I am NOT addicted you hear. It's just fun.

  28. 1 - I am conscious about how wild the covers of books are that I may have out in public
2 - I play Mahjongg sometimes on my computer, but that's about all - never could pick up how to play other video games

    ReplyDelete
  29. I went off to look up books from my birth year/decade last week and had something else come up and never got back around to it...

    1. Usually I am reading on my kindle so it isn't an issue but if I am reading a book with a hot cover it doesn't bother me.

    2. About the only video game I play is Wii bowling with my daughter.

  30. 1.) I don't have a problem letting people know that I read romance.
