Sharing Beyond Books #88 Comment Giveaway February 23, 2013

Hello, Welcome to SBB.
I hope everyone is staying reasonably warm and dry with this capricious, winter weather. I had a sort of disruptive week as my daughter wanted my help several days clearing our basement and sorting things for a yard sale. So I lost a couple of days but had nice family time. :-)
Thank you to all who shared last week.

There were several good series suggested for Movies or perhaps TV. The one with the multiple votes was the Mercy Thompson series.

Quite a few of you do not sing at all but there are singers. Three admitted singing in the shower and three sing with the TV but more like to sing along with the radio. Jolene sings to annoy her husband but the most interesting is Linda who sings with a 'gym choir' while exercising.

The Winner from SBB #87 comments is: #11 Mary.  Mary will get a GC choice. Please let me know your choice if ready by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #88 Questions

Q1. Miki asks: Do you enjoy merchandising, goodies from your favorite books (for example a reproduction of the pendant of one character etc)? do you buy them sometimes??
A: No - I don't pick up goodies connected to books.
I liked this Harry Potter bracelet I found at Fashionably Geek.

Q2. My Question this week: Do you collect other things, like Beenie Babies, Dolls, candles or something else??
A: I have saved the Beenie Babies I collected for and with my children when they were young. But I don't really collect anything but books anymore - and of course I collect plenty of them! :-)
We sure don't have this many!

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! We can always use fresh questions.
February questions were provided by: Lissette, Margaret, Abby and Miki. The winner of a book choice or GC is #3 - Abby.

  1. 1. I don't pick up merchandising that goes along with books I read.

    2. I don't collect anything other than books. I have far too many things and am trying to thin the herds as I age. I do keep things of sentimental value mostly. I live with two OCD collectors so I am not one to add more.

  4. 1. I've seen a lot of cute things/jewelry/accessories related to certain books/characters, eg a Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Brooch, but so far I haven't bought any such merchandise.

    2. Boyds Bears, yay! To be fair though, due to space issues I have stopped buying new ones in recent years. If I lived in a mansion this would be another story entirely ...

  8. I don't buy any of the merchandise associated with the books. Some are unique and quite nice though.

I collect books also but I also collect compacts from the 1920's. I have about 15 now. Mostly from yard sales and antique sites.

  10. I don't buy any merchandise that goes with books but I think some of the stuff is really cool

I collect roosters and it all started with a rooster coffee cup when I first met my husband. I thought his last name was hilarious. It's my last name now too and my poor kids :) I have fun with it though and after that rooster coffee cup my rooster collection has grown. If u follow me on twitter or facebook the rooster collecting makes sense if u see my last name :)

  11. 1. I have entered to win a necklace and a pendant.

    2. I used to collect spoons from different places I had visited but I don't anymore. I do keep my books and have many bookcases full. I'm sure it annoys my husband but he doesn't say anything just puts together another bookcase when they get full. lol

  13. While I find some of the merchandising stuff pretty or amusing in its own right (like HP wands, or LotR jewelry), I don't buy it. I guess the one exception is card and board games from time to time. We have a D&D version of Clue and the LotR card game.

Mostly, just books. though I do have the family stamp & coin collection, I don't actively add to it these days. I do have a large collection of yarn that I am slowly working my way through (knitting). But that's not really an aesthetic collection.

  16. I would like to buy them, but since I'm INT (El Salvador) we don't get things from books. I love bracelets though, and I'm seriously thinking in doing one by myself inspired on books I love.

HA! I collect the toys of a chocolate named "Kinder Sorpresa" in Latin America. And for what I read, I think is banned in US. Here's the image of the chocolate
