Sharing Beyond Books #70 Comment Giveaway October 13, 2012

Welcome to another SBB!

Hello again on Saturday Night.  Well - that stupid cold got me again today and I feel so Yuck with feverish fog. So I will be brief I think and then head to bed.

Thank you to all who shared last week.

Although we have a few of us who got our licenses late, nine of you did get them at age 16. Six do not have their licenses, two of whom have not gotten them yet. Carol L learned to drive at 15 but never got her license being fearful to drive with 7 children. :-) And thanks to those who admitted you didn't pass the first time either. :-)

Seven of you read Christmas books all year long and the rest of us read, some starting when the Christmas review titles begin, others now and several in November and December.

WEEK #70 Questions

Q1. Krystal asks: Which authors are the most recommended to you??
A: This not so easy to answer. My brother is reading suspense - actually the FBI series by Coulter and Patterson's Woman's Murder Club. So I already have those on my lists. My daughter is currently reading the Dragon Tattoo series which I haven't yet read but I have the books.  Online of course I get a wide variety of recommendations from all you nice reading bloggers.  So I can't think of any particular authors recommended.

I found this image at Directed Edge.

Q2. Do you have a favorite social media??
A:  I am on facebook, twitter and Google Groups.  I really don't have enough time to visit other blogs I would like to much less spend time on these other medias. But I guess when I get a chance to link something I tend to use twitter because it is so easy.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)  The question list is being replenished!  Thanks for sending in questions!

Your turn to share:

1. Krystal asks: Which authors are the most recommended to you??

2. Do you have a favorite social media??

  1. 1. A lot of classic authors - mainly Austen, but also Dickens. I'm not really sure why because they are not anything close to what I normally read. I do enjoy Austen, but I hate Dickens.
    2. I use different social media for different things. Facebook is for gaming. Twitter is for entering contests. Intsagram is for keeping up with my younger staff.

  2. 1. Tough question. I do get recommendations through Goodreads, though it's quite a variety of different books/authors, so I couldn't answer this with just one author.

    2. Definitely Facebook, though I have a soft spot for Pinterest too. Twitter? I must be the last person on the planet who hasn't signed up for it so far.

  3. I hope you enjoy the Stieg Larsson books. They were heavy but good. I see A LOT of YA stuff and zombie stuff recommended these days. So I have tried to broaden my reading horizons - I recently finished 172 Hours on the Moon (YA-horror-scifi) and Dead Men Kill (pulp fiction-zombies). I wish Stieg was still around writing.

I like twitter for quick, fun answers and watching movies as a group. Currently, http://booksnobbery.wordpress.com/ hosts a monthly movie drink along (you can choose your own drink, no one is watching). She picks the movies and we all log on and have a good time.

  4. 1. I don't remember the names of the authors but I get a lot of recommendations from GoodReads Reads for Parnormal Books and they are just not my cup of te.

    2. Facebook because I hear from friends and family a lot that way. Otherwise the only time I would hear from them would be the Christmas cards that come each year because everyone is so busy.

  5. My friends are not big on reading so most of my reading recommendations come from all of you wonderful bloggers plus some free ebook sites and Amazon recommendations. No specific authors however. My eyes perk up when I see James Patterson's name appear.

I guess facebook must be my favorite since I refuse to get sucked into the time consumers of twitter, pinterest or things like that. I'm not much for google+ and I don't like linkedin either. I like to keep things simple.

  6. 1) A lot of authors are recommended to be, being abroad i don't have easily new release or new authors so without reviewers and recommendation iwould be lost.

Jennifer L Armentrout was highly recommended to me as well as Kieran Kramer and Jill Shalvis for example

    2) no twitter nor facebook for me, i'm really not at ease with those

    thank you once again

  7. I've gotten so many recommendations to read modern classic paranormal like The Dresden Files, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, etc. I am slowly starting most of the series, and loving them.

Since I discovered Twitter based on the pushings of my BEA roomies, I've been pretty addicted. I think it's the most fun and simplest social media to use that is also really interactive.

    2. If Goodreads is social media then it's that first with Facebook running a close second. I do like Twitter for my TuesBookTalk chats and for my read-a-thon chats.

  16. 1. I get blog posts thru email and take note of new books coming out by authors I already enjoy, but also take note of authors or book that several people rave over. There a lot to choose from that look really good, but I keep working thru my TBR lists & piles.
    2. I have accounts on several social media sites, but to get good content I think I like Facebook the best. I was using Pinterest more, but for the last month have been unable to Pin and have gotten no help from their tech support team.
