Sunday Words of Encouragement September 9, 2012

It was good to be back with our home church "family" today. This morning our Pastor spoke on Logos, the 'written word', and Rhema, the 'Living Word' or sword of God which speaks from our heart's intent. My words here are my interpretative summary of the message.

We learn by reading, meditating and memorizing the Word of God from the Bible. But how do we use the Word? What proceeds from our mouths?

Even the devil and his people have learned the word and can quote the Bible. Do we speak our own words or do we allow the Living Word to speak through us in the circumstances that we find ourselves in?  Rhema, the Living Word, does not speak negative but only positive and life encouragement.

Do we speak joy and love or anger and hate?
Do we speak encouragement or despair?
Do we speak positives or criticism and judgment?
Do we align our words with Life or Death?

Our Pastor concluded with the question: Do your words bring Life?

I went through several videos today (after fighting plug in crashes for three hours).
This is the one that I decided on for the message today.

Verse for Today:
Matthew 12:36
36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

We have had a tragedy in our community and in several families in our church and another nearby church.  Three teenage (15 and 16 year olds) died in a car crash on Thursday.  There is little that I can think to say in comfort.  So I pray for comfort from the only one we can fully trust to bring comfort, the Holy Spirit God.
