Sharing Beyond Books #57 Comment Giveaway

Welcome to another SBB!

My week was busy but good. Today was HOT! I got to swim early and then spent the day in AC in the office. I hope you all stayed cool enough (or warm enough for those on the other side.)
Thank you to all who shared last week.

I was surprised that quite a number of commenters do not read Urban Fantasy or Fantasy. A couple of you would like to try it - check out the list and links posted last week. Watch the heat level as some tend to be spicier than others. Carol and Natasha both mentioned Karen Marie Moning and I have read one of her Highlander series but not the Fever series. Ricki mentioned two authors I had not heard of but will look into: Mark del Franco and Kat Richardson.

Oh - we are such a pack of readers! Most of us choose to find a cool place to read. About four would read at the beach and several would like to para-sail. The true individualists? Krystal choose surfing and scottsgal goes boating as first choice.

WEEK #57 Questions

Q1. Mary P asks: Do you have a system for storing your books??
A: I do have somewhat of a system. Well, I used to. I have my fav authors' alphabetically on the bookshelf, some in boxes when there are many. Then there are more boxes upstairs. And three or so boxes by years: older than 2005, 2005-2007 and 2007 up.  Also another few boxes by genres. All in all WAY to many!! And that doesn't even begin to consider the 1700 books on Kindle and the 700 or so on Audible. Sigh!
IF ANY OF YOU WANT TO SHARE A PHOTO OF YOUR SHELVES I WILL SET UP A POST FOR THEM NEXT WEEK. JUST EMAIL THEM TO ME! mesreads AT gmail.com

This is my primary shelf pic from 2009.
It has been updated since so there are about five boxed authors along the shelves.
Image found at MBS Post 8/6/2009 where you can see more shelves and boxes. :-)

Q2. My question: What is your favorite dance a) to dance b) to watch??
A:  My DH and I were great jitterbuggers (form of swing) back in the day. We embarrassed our kids when they were 9 and 10 and we danced on a cruise we took them on. :-) However, our son did take up swing dancing when he got to be 18. It is good exercise too!
I do enjoy watching good swing and a nice waltz.

Here is a short YouTube example of the basic jitterbug we would dance.

We might do a few more energetic steps but not the high lifts.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)  The question list is being replenished!  Thanks for sending in questions!

Your turn to share:

  1. 1. A system? Errr ... I wish! Due to lack of space I just squeeze them into every available space. I do try to keep authors together though, but even this is quite a chore sometimes.

    2. I love to waltz which is a bit ironic seeing how I easily get sea sick when I do, hahaha! And to watch? Oh I like to watch pretty much every dance except for Tango which just doesn't appeal to me.

  2. i'm trying to put some order in my books at first i did it by language but after since i follow my favorite authors in vo and french i prefered to put them together so now i classify them by genre and/or author ( if an author writes several genre it's author first genre in second)

  3. I store my boosk; both printed & ebooks alphabetically by author.
I'm hopeless at dancing but I love watching others dance (with much envy); I like the Latin dances best.

I'm an international reader so a GFC is good but the i'd love a copy of The sinner by Margaret Mallory if you'll ship internationally.

  4. Congrats BermudaOnion.
I had all my books stored so nice and neat and then we had work done in the house and all my books are out of order and I don't know where anything is. :)

When I was younger I loved dancing to everything. You'd never find me sitting. But today with a bad back I'm just a watcher now.

  5. 1. We have quite a few bookcases. I still have all the books from when my children were little in one. Way too precious to giveaway. One bookcase with all the non-fiction, another with all my daughter's books & then all the other books are on bookcases generally lumped together by author.

    2. I can't dance to save my life, but I appreciate most dance. My favorite to watch has to be classical ballet. Giselle moves me to tears every time.

  6. 1. My books I have read are shelved alphabetically by author according to genre. The books in my TBR pile are shelved in the order I am going to read them, which review books on one shelf and "fun" reads on all the others.
    2. My favorite dances to dance are Tango and Cha-Cha (because these are the two my husband and I are best at - we even did a tango for our wedding dance). I love watching Viennese Waltz because it is so pretty.

  7. My books are sorted into 3 piles: ones my sister hasn't read yet, ones I haven't read yet, and ones that we've both read and I am ready to get rid of. I also have one shelf of books I want to keep.

    I don't have a favourite dance because I haven't really tried any.

  9. I have a couple small bookshelves - one for new paperbacks, one for hardcovers & one for trade size paperbacks.
I also use grocery store cardboard fruit flats (the kind palstic containers of tomatoes & berries come in). The slide under couches & beds & stack very nicely.

I don't dance myself, but enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars - the latin dances are usually high energy.

  11. 1. I organize my books on our bookshelves...fiction in alphabetical order by author and non-fiction divided into genre and then alphabetical order by author. Also, there's a section of books that I've yet to read.

    2. I enjoy various types of dancing, including swing dancing. :)

  13. 1. I just sort them out according to genre on a bookshelf and usually according to series / height.

    2. I love to watch the tango. So sexy!

  14. 1. My books are stacked helter skelter, school takes precedence right now.
    2. I don't know too many dances...maybe the Flamenco (is that the right name?)

  15. 1. The only system I have is to try to put one author's books all together. My shelves are starting to overflow now, so I need to go through the books. What a job that will be!

    2. The only dancing that I do is for exercise in my living room with a CD or radio on. "Rocking out" to the latest songs is a fun way for me to exercise. :-)

I do love to watch dancing. DWTS is my favorite show.

  16. 1. Not really? I have most of my books in random boxes everywhere around the house now. But my FAVES have their own special boxes mmm hmmm...yes, they do now!

    2. I don't dance but I love to watch all the dance shows. DWTS, SYTYCD, Got To Dance.....

  17. 1. Yes, I do have some sort of a system. I sort by genre, then authors and I also group series books together of course.

    2. I don't dance but I do enjoy watching all types of dancing though.
