Sharing Beyond Books #48 Comment Giveaway May 12, 2012

Welcome to SBB! How is everyone this beautiful week of May? I am still in my hotel room in Tallahassee with one more day of training tomorrow.  Happy Mother's Day!

Thank you to all those who commented last week.

Not everyone had a romantic restaurant to share but those restaurants that were shared sound wonderful.  Jane agreed that you create your own romance no matter the place. :-)

It was fun to see what meals were shared and I enjoyed even more learning what books you were currently reading. Faith Hope and Cherrytea shared two recipe books and I love the name (and thought) of Friendship Bread.

The Winner from SBB #47 comments is: #2 marybelle. There are still 8 'love' books to pick from and 2 Christmas choices. marybelle is international so may pick a GC or choose a book from the remaining Love Books List for Giveaway, remaining Christmas Giveaway Books, OR pick from the ARC box and let me know your choice, your address and a choice of bookmarks by completing the WINNER FORM.

WEEK #48 Questions

Q1.  Sarah asks: What is your favourite mode of transportation??
A:  Well I think that is an easy question for me because I love cruising! So cruise ships is #1 and trains would be #2 although unfortunately they are too expensive for fun travel.

This is a shot looking back at the Emerald Princess
while we took the tender into Greenland.

Q2. My question this week:  If you were to give your Mom a book for Mother's Day, what book would you pick?? Or, for those like me whose mother's are not here to share with, what book do you associate with your Mother??
A: This is still a little hard for me even though my Mom has been gone for many years. She passed when I was 21.  The book that always makes me think of her is one of her favorite books, Selected Poems of Emily Dickinson. It is a book which I gave to her as a gift when I was in college.

Selected Poems of Emily Dickinson
I don't think this is the right cover and I will check when I return home.
The one I have is a paperback volume from the 1960s.

Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask.  Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I will draw from the suggestions I used the month before and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions but some of you others might want to get in a question or two as we have a few people submitting most of the questions so far.  Either way - it works for me. :-)  The question list is being replenished!  Thanks for sending in questions!

Your turn to share:

1. Sarah asks: What is your favourite mode of transportation??

  1. 1. I love trains. You can wander around & you get to see a different part of the countryside or city.

    2. I would give my Mother a biography or fiction of someone of note in history. She would love that.

  4. Since I never really go anywhere, I guess I prefer a car for transportation. If I were to actually get out of town, I would want fly.

There is no book that I can say reminds me of my mom but rather there are authors that I think of when I see their names...like Nora Roberts and Rosamunde Pilcher. We shared books back and forth but those were hers alone.

  6. I love driving, but it's nice not to have to work sometimes, so I'm going to pick flying in a plane. I've only ever flown ommercially, but I\d love to try a private jet sometime.

My mom has always been an artist, so I always associate art books with her. There was always a selection of awesome coffee table books at our house.

  7. 1. My fav mode of transportation is ... walking! Must be a European thing ;-) because almost everything is in walking distance. Next best thing is the airplane which takes me to far away places *sigh*.
    2. My Mom doesn't read much anymore because it's too strenuous on her eyes. Yet she loves traveling and the great apes, so a coffee-table book with beautiful photography would be the thing for her.

  8. Happy Mother's Day. I do enjoy cruises, but the plane is the easiest way for me to arrive at my vacation destination. I would probably get my mom a book about herbal remedies.

  9. 1. What is your favourite mode of transportation??
Undoubtedly - car. You're independent, can change your mind (and go book-hunting instead of going to the airport xD) and feel comfortable!

    2. If you were to give your Mom a book for Mother's Day, what book would you pick??
I'd pick something like Dan Brown's books. Mum has read all of his works and loves them

    2. Sorry to hear about your mum. Mine left me even earlier. Anyway, I don't have just one book. She turned me on to Judith McNaught's books! So those!!

    2. My mom doesn't read a lot of books but she loves her magazines, so I'd give her a year's subscription to anything she wants.
